Thyme Around the Table specializes in being your personal chef whether it is for meals for an individual or families a private in home event or a catering event, that are customized with your specifics needs and budget in mind.

Knowing that this is YOUR experience and event, we work with you to bring you the highest quality of ingredients along with the skills that have been taught in both the US and Europe.

History

Established in 2011.

In 2009, after a car accident, I decided to follow the passion of cooking that I have had since the age of 9.

After attending the International Culinary school and cooking in Europe, Thyme Around the Table began in 2011.

My culinary knowledge & skills were refined by graduating from The International Institute and cooking in Italy, France and Costa Rica. Through the many years of cooking, I have enhanced my skills and recipes creating a great repertoire of recipes.

My goal is to provide my clients my experience, expertise & a custom experience.

I can come to your home, vacation rental, or off site location with a kitchen as well as cater events for your next business event in the SF/​Bay area.

We also offer private small group culinary hands-​on cooking classes, corporate team building activities, or special family or friend gatherings to get together for some intimate Thyme Around the Table without the hassles of a restaurant.

We will work with you for dietary needs, budget and ideas.

Had a chance to hire Lena and her team for a holiday event that I recently co-​organized, and they really delivered. Not only was the cuisine a big hit, but she was really easy to work with from the get-​go. She quoted what I asked for, made some recommended adjustments and totally executed. Our event guests and co-​organizers were quite pleased. She made it all happen and helped us create a stellar event, for which our spending was under budget-​bonus! To top it all of, Lena and her staff were so pleasant to work with on the night of our event. They were all professional yet easy-​going, as it should be. It was a holiday event after all.

Attended a holiday cocktail party last evening, sponsored by a non-​profit. This was a great catering company: the service was swift, yet unobtrusive, the food was really good. I imagine that it was all very reasonable.
The hors-d’oeuvres were perfect: beautiful to view, not boring, and perfect in stimulating the appetite, all very stylish. The other courses were grand, not too rich, matched the wines nicely.
I hope that the non-​profit will hire this firm again: a delightful evening with a caring staff! And, they (along with the host) encouraged the guests to take home the leftovers which were neatly packaged.

Chef Lena and Andy were a delight to have in our kitchen. They were wonderful with the kids. Oh and the food — it was awesome. Duck 2 ways with a delicious soup amazing salad and as it was my wife’s birthday, a kick-​ass chocolate cake dessert.
We had food for 3 days as leftovers in the fridge.
Hire these people… They won’t disappoint.

Lena’s food is amazing! On top of that, she’s very organized and pleasant to work with. She is knowledgeable about nutrition, and has many creative yet DELICIOUS meals prepared to meet our rigid dietary needs. You can feel her thoughtfulness through her meals and down to the package of everything. It has been a blessing to our family that we have found such a wonderful personal chef!

Lena has been a life saver for me! I needed a personal chef to help me get started with healthy eating again to work on my weight loss goals. I just wasn’t ready to put the time in and the convenience of prepared food delivered to my door was just what I needed.
She worked with me via email and then we met up in person to go over what I like, what I don’t like, etc. Then the magic happened! Fresh, delicious food delivered to my office the following Monday.
Everything is labeled and dated, which is really helpful, especially when I pop things into the freezer to eat later on.
The food is so tasty and custom for YOU. Every week I get a list of choices for the next week and it’s all customizable. I hate stuffed peppers and suggested stuffed eggplant instead. She’s willing to work around what you want and make sure you are happy no matter what!
My coworkers ask me every day «what’s for lunch» and rave about the food and how good it looks.
If you need a personal chef I highly recommend Lena from Thyme Around the Table. She’s not only a sweatheart, but she also really cares about her clients and their needs. Plus the food is delicious!

I had Thyme Around the Table-​Personal Chef and Catering cater a small event I had and could not be happier with the results. Food was AMAZING, Lena is an absolute doll and pricing was competitive. She worked with me on the menu, made wonderful suggestions and added her Italian flair! I could not be happier with the evening and will continue you to use her for all my personal and business catering. 5 Stars!

I have been a lucky attendee at 2 events where Thyme around the Table was catering. I am very glad to see that they are still in business because the food was excellent, both in taste and presentation. The owner, Chef Lena, is gracious, fun, creative, and works her … off!
Next time I have to host an event, Thyme Around the Table will be the caterer.

I too received an email notice from Amazon Local that «Thyme Around the Table» is no longer in business, and the promotion order I recently placed has been cancelled. Thankfully Amazon will be refunding me.
UPDATE: Thyme Around the Table has contacted me and they are thankfully not out of business! Yeah! They are working to figure out why Amazon emailed me to say they were out of business (misunderstanding perhaps?). Nonetheless, it is good news to hear they are still in business. I am dissapointed I did not get to try their Amazon Local deal but luckily I we all have the opportunity to still use their services. Thank you TATT for letting me know! Will update my review to a neutral 3 stars for the moment. Look forward to trying their food soon.

Tried the Amazon Promotion they held.
The food was tasty and delicious — 4.5 stars!
The delivery was on time — 5 stars!
The portions were the most disappointing! — 2 stars
It definitely was not fit for 2 people, more like 1 person servings.
I’m a 95 lbs girl saying that!
I did write them trying to confirm if the delivery was correct
They did respond promptly where the side dishes were not but main entrees were.
They didn’t offer to bring me the rest of the side dishes I paid for but did offer me credit on future order. Unfortunately, that wont happen because of the tiny portions.
Like I said, food was great but execution was not there.

Absolutely the worst possible experience getting catering for an event. Lena’s administrator screwed up my event on the first round. Ok fine. I think it’s OK and they are probably swarmed with the event. So, our delivery was pushed back one week. The second week, they still can’t make it and not offering to reschedule but to cancel it in entirety. Wow, really?
And you cancel it ONE day before the event delivery? That’s real professional.

I am not only the voice for people that attended The «Big Boy Birthday Bash», but also the voice of 9 canines! Yep, they loved the Turkey Meatloaf Cake and we humans loved the sliders and all the food that you did for the social event of the season!
I cannot praise you enough for your creativity and flexibility in creating a menu that catered to dogs and humans alike!

Lena Difasi knocked our socks off for our Santa Teresa Branch Library staff recognition brunch. She was easy to book, discuss menus and negotiate prices. I was not the only one who was thrilled with the mix of vegan and non vegan items like mini brownies, black bean hummus with smoked chorizo, bruchetta, or her family recipe quiche. She brings professionalism and attention to detail when everything is perfect including Lena in her Chef’s whites!

Lena, at Thyme Around the Table is amazing. Right from the beginning, we felt secure knowing that she would make our Celebration of Life a great success. She is the only caterer that gave us complete price listings from the beginning so there were no surprises. She is extremely easy to work with: she understood our needs and desires and was quick to provide brilliant suggestions. Best of all, her food is beyond delicious. Everything had real flavor. YUM!!! I would work with her again in a heartbeat. She is now our caterer of choice.
