I emphasize the importance of solid technique, musical style, and beautiful sound production. I welcome students who are willing to engage in a profound study of classical repertoire through hard work and quality practice. My goal is to vastly improve their understanding and love for music.

Based in San Jose, I work with students from all over the Bay Area who desire to learn violin for enjoyment, youth orchestra auditions, and extracurricular enrichment for college applications.

One of the best music teachers I’ve come across, and I’ve had plenty-​10+ throughout my childhood having played 4 instruments on and off. He’s patient with young children, creative, has a gift communicating with them, and a really kind person. He clearly enjoys what he does and puts in a lot of extra effort taping lessons for the child & parent, taping violin pieces and etudes uploaded online for students to refer to, very well organized. My son really enjoys his lessons. He’s an absolute gem!

Mr. Tim is an excellent teacher. I have seen marked improvement in my child’s playing in just a few short weeks. Now my child wants to play and practice so he can show Mr. Tim. My child’s previous teacher only told my child, «It’s wrong. Fix it.» She did not tell him how to this. Mr. Tim is able to explain to my child HOW to fix his mistake and encourages him a positive way. This makes all the difference in the world. I am very pleased with Mr. Tim’s instruction.

It has been several months now since my ten year old son switched to Tim. Tim has been doing a wonderful job on motivating my son who used to dread of going to violin lessons a lot. In addition to being patient and encouraging, Tim’s musical expertise is also incredible.
This is what my son said «I think that Tim is a nice and energetic teacher. He helps me learn and I like to have him as my teacher.»
We look forward to many more fun learning experiences and making great music together with Tim! And thank you Tim!
