I’ve been a client of Dr Chan’s dentistry office for over 20 years. He and his staff are a caring, considerate, and skilled family of dental professionals. Kim, their dental hygienist, cleans and removes tartar with a thorough, gentle and respectful touch. Always a great experience!

I’ve had some negative experiences with dentists and I have had a few issues — three root canals and crowns as well as some fillings. I started going to Dr. Chan’s office because my fiancé was a patient there and reported good things. I needed to see someone right away because one of my crowns fell out. Dr. Chan fit me into his schedule quite early and did a great job making me a new crown with a better fit (the previous one had a large gap). Just a couple of weeks later I cracked another crown and Dr. Chan not only called me right away (when I left a panicked message with his answering service over the weekend) but he was able to fix my problem with a minimum of pain and discomfort again. This was especially notable because it involved a molar that every other dentist I’ve seen for the last 10 years deemed «concerning» and they openly said they didn’t want to treat it. Thankfully I haven’t had any other issues for a few months but just went to the office last week for my regular cleaning and exam. I’ve now been to the office 5 times.
I had a dental HMO and that was pretty terrible as far as coverage and available providers go, so I went to Dr. Chan’s office as a cash patient and thought his prices were fair relative to my previous experiences.
Besides his skills as a dental practitioner, Dr. Chan has an excellent bedside manner. Despite my fears about being at the dentist, he and his wonderful staff put me at ease and I actually smile when I go there. Every single person we’ve encountered there is friendly and kind. Bonus, they don’t overbook the schedule and I have never waited more than 2 minutes before being brought back to start my appointment. We will be patients at Dr. Chan’s office as long as we live in the area!

I recently had a series of procedures, a root canal as well as replacing four crowns. It is no fun having a root canal or getting a crown, let alone four crowns. But, if I really had to do it, Dr. Chan is the best guy to do it. He is a good dentist, very conscientious and easy to work with. Juanita was so professional, as well as being so nice, helping the doctor with all my procedures. Hey, I should know, I have been a patient of Dr. Chan for over 30 years. :-)

My family has been with Dr. Chan for many years. When I lost my original plan after retiring, I went to numerous dentists and was very disappointed. Today, many dentists treat their practices as marketplaces, finding ways to provide you services you often don’t really need. I called Dr. Chan to ask what plans his office works with just to get him back! A UCSF trained dentist, Dr. Chan is a highly competent and ethical dentist. «If it ain’t broke…», he doesn’t suggest fixing it. With a neighborly demeanor, he has the three C’s: competence, commitment and compassion. His staff is the same and they have been with him for years. His kind and friendly wife, Mrs. Chan, helps run the office. What does all that tell you? Go once and you’ll stay.

A new year, my 200^th review, 2010 Elite… this deserves nothing less than a five star review.
I tried to find a five star establishment. I couldn’t give the Unilocal Christmas party a high five. I couldn’t give the all you can eat sushi place five. And I don’t review fellow Unilocalers, body parts, my car, holidays, or anything else that is non-​establishment related.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Chan for about 17 years. I’ve been to other dentists who treat you like the oil change guy… every three months, take out the old, put in the new, charge your insurance company, and not very personal. Dr. Chan is different.
He takes time to know you, and every visit he makes you feel like you’re an individual, not another billing. He’s never late for an appointment, and often sees patients on short notice. He’s never performed unnecessary work, unlike some dentists who change fillings out every six months because that’s what the insurance company will tolerate. And he’s good on follow up, personally calling you up at home following major surgery.
His staff has been with him for ages, and is also personable. They’re also quick to hand out the latest freebies of floss, picks, brushes, and mouthwashes.

excellent dentist! haven’t been to him for several years but that’s just because i dont have health insurance. once i do have it, im def. going back to him.

The best dentist I have had so far. He is gentle in his work, and he makes me feel comfortable, even when I have a difficult procedure. I usually don’t like going to see the dentist, but I trust Dr. Chan and his work.
His Hygenist Kim also really good. She always makes my teeth feel so clean!
