Wic Program

This location is horrific. Everyone who works there is rude except for the one guy I’ve seen. They are not helpful or understanding of you’re situation and they act like they are better than anyone else who walks in the door. When I lived in Oakland and went to that office they were so much nicer and genuinely cared. It would be nice to know that when I walk through the door I would be greeted with a smile rather than a «can I have your folder.» When I was near my due date and went in for a class the heavier set woman with a thick accent who was teaching the class made a joke about me. When a woman is 9 months pregnant, tired, and irritable the last thing a anyone should be doing is making her feel bad and then laughing about it in front of the entire class. Not to mention I was the only one in there without a significant other which made it even more heart wrenching for me. Maybe if the people who worked there weren’t so self absorbed and rude they would be a little more intuitive regarding the circumstances of each individual. Bottom line these people don’t give a rats ass about anyone who goes in there for help and they sure don’t care about how they make you feel.

Extremely rude and unprofessional front desk staff. Disappointed. Not surprised about the other negative reviews.

Children Age limit is 4 …

I’d like to know where you can file a formal complaint about staff at wic. The social workers with the exception of one woman were all nice, but administrative staff are rude, racist, discriminatory, and classist. Other wic offices seem much nicer in comparison. It’s true staff at the Virginia site don’t even want to look at you when you walk through the door because they act like they are gatekeepers and treat people as though we are trying to take advantage of the system. I’m not sure why the supervisor and her staff work there if they seem to look down at the clients so much. Please choose a different profession that values skills like smack talking, eye rolling, and rudeness towards your clients…

I used Wic services when my children, were babies. Litearally years ago. They used to be open on Saturdays that really helped out my family and also it turned out great because I was working Mon– friday. I never had any complaints, they were nice and always willing to help. :)

I have been going to this location for 2 years now and up till last week everyone was so nice and kind. This lady that was at the front rolled her eyes at me when I asked her a question about a class. Word of advise if your having a bad day don’t take it out on other people.

WIC is a great help, but my god most of the employees there act like their s^%^ don’t stink!!! there all rude and barely look at you when you walk in.

We were on WIC when our first child was born. Its a great service! It helped us out in what is not only a rough time but a naturally stressful time (how in the world am I gonna take care of this child…) Anyhow I just wanted to second what the other reviewer said and help spread the word to anyone that might be in a similar situation.

The Virginia Street Women Infants and Children program has helped my family a lot. While on maternity leave, you are only paid a fraction of what you normally make. Times were tough for a while after our son was born. WIC helped ease the burden. The vouchers that we recieved from WIC helped out big time! WIC offers free health assesments, nutrition classes and vouchers for nutritious foods like milk, formula, cereal, juice, tuna, carrots, eggs, peanut butter, beans, and cheese for low income families. Here in the Silicon Valley, it’s not uncommon for the average working family of 4 to be considered low income. The 1 hour classes teach parents the importance of proper nutrition for themselves and thier children.
