Ponzini Insulation

Don and his company is great. Absolutely agree that Ponzini has the best pricing. I got a combination of batt insulation for the attic and walls and spray foam for my crawl space during a remodel. The spray foam really insulates the house well. The crew was great and hard working. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Wish I could give the 4.5 stars but overall they deserve a 5 for price, performance and professionalism.
My house was really hot this summer and I really don’t want to spend the $ 10K for air con plus the ongoing costs (yes, $ 10K bc I’d have to redo the ancient ducting too). So I went the insulation route. We got a bid from the estimator with Ponzini who came out very quickly. But he was slow to respond to any follow-​up. Nice guy but once he left the house, he didn’t respond to phone or email. Hence the .5 star knockoff.
So after a while I reached out to the main number and worked directly with the owner. Don was really responsive and made adjustments to the bid promptly based on our conversation. The crew came out and was very professional, courteous and fast.
In 3 days they sucked out all the blown in insulation as well as removed the existing rolled down insulation. We had decided to take out the old stuff which was pretty minimal instead of blowing in more stuff which ends up getting all over the place. The team laid down an improved layer of insulation.
Then a cousin said we should tell the crew to staple down the insulation. When I called Don about this, he very nicely explained why it was unsafe and actually against manufacturer’s directions to do this (and I think against code).
Total cost for a 2,400 square foot house to remove and install r38? $ 4K.
So, did the new insulation work to keep my house cooler?
Hell yes! Oh yeah. I am so happy with this option to reduce the heat in the house in a much more passive way than A/​C.
Would I recommend Ponzini?
Hell yes!
Just get your bid from the estimator, then work directly with Don after that.

I used these guys for a previous job and am about to get a bid from them for the rest of my home remodel. Not only was their price awesome, the guy who did the work was extremely friendly and quick.
There was an issue with what I thought I was getting based on the original contract and what the guy doing the spray foam said he was allowed to do. I called and spoke with the owner and he cleared it up and made it a non-​issue.
For the price these guys offered it was probably less than it would have been if I had went out and got a DIY spray foam and batts at the store and done it myself.

I needed two very small insulation and radiant barrier jobs completed on a project I was working. Ponzini Insulation was very courteous, professional, and easy to work with through the whole process. The bidder and workers who came to our job site were professional, clean, and courteous. I truly could not have asked for better service.

I started trying to do the whole PGE Energy savings green home improvement thing, with the rebates and all, and quickly figured out that all the contractors who were certified for the program, for the most part, charge exorbitant fees for the same work Ponzini can do. Ponzini did not do the whole PGE rebate program, but I did not need the max of $ 4500 in PGE rebates, I needed to have my house improved for a good price, and not get ripped off.
we had our house analyzed by Elements. $ 450. And got a thorough report on what needed to be done. It’s not rocket science.
1] fix the leaky A/​C ducts and make sure they are insulated (Malibu heating and A/​C)
2] vent our roof (Jeff Jewitt, roofer)
3] get insulated. (Ponzini)
How hard is that to handle? If you then get a-​certified PGE contractor to arrange the jobs for you, you might qualify for rebates from PGE, but even after the rebates, you’ll pay way more than if you just make the calls yourself.
The quote I got from Ponzini to insulate my home exterior walls was at least ½ the quotes from the PGE certified contractors. The quote to blow insulation into my attic was, in some cases, only ¼ the price of the PGE certified contractors. Some of the PGE guys would not do the job unless they first sucked out all the old insulation. Not necessary unless you have a serious vermin problem. Vacuuming alone cost the same amount Ponzini charged just to improve my insulation and get the job done.
When they showed up, it turns out my walls were already insulated, but they quickly changed gears and helped me figure out what of my garage mud-​room walls needed insulating, so we did that instead, for a lower price.
Even with the PGE rebates, these PGE certified contractors are pocketing THOUSANDS of extra dollars for themselves, and probably hiring Ponzini to subcontract for them to work on your house. Then they charge you extra since they are the ones who made the call. Make the call yourself and save a ton of money.
Oh, and the attic insulation? I strongly suggest if you are going to blow in the attic, have them blow it to at least a total of 16″ thick. Not that much more $$ and an amazing difference for our 1972 tract-​type house with barely 3″ of cellulose in the attic.
Before, we’d turn the heat up and after 15 minutes, the temp would drop 1 degree, at least. Now, we get it up to 70 °F at 6pm and it takes till 7am in the morning to drop to 67 °F, when the heater then kicks back on.
remember, my house HAD wall insulation, but the house performed horribly. Now that we have what amounts to about R40 or so, in the attic, it performs much better. Don’t skimp on the attic!

I had them insulate under the floor in the crawl space and wrap the furnace ducting with insulation. They did a beautiful job. I don’t know how they were able to work in such a narrow space but they did. I will definitely use them again.

I used this company to insulate a new home my wife and I are building in Santa Cruz. Not only was their price very good, they offered what they call a «hybrid» involving both foam and fiberglass. I believe it gave me the best of both at a good price.
Efrain of the foaming crew was exceptionally courteous and made a big effort to meet our needs and to make sure we were satisfied with the outcome. The company went out of their way to do a great job and do it expeditiously. I recommend them without reservation.

They did an excellent and thorough job of cleaning and vacuuming the insulation from our attic. 4 guys spent 5 hours cleaning. We had a new roof installed 15 years ago and all the debris and nails were dumped into our insulation. You can hear the clatter of nails getting sucked up by the vacuum through the hose straight to the truck in the street. They picked up several dead roof rats too. I had some follow-​up people inspect the work later and they confirmed it was very clean. Thanks Ponzini!
My only wish is that the employees should have been provided higher quality face masks to protect their lungs from all the fiberglass and dust.

First of all, the men who actually did the work inside our home couldn’t have possibly been nicer or more professional. They did a fantastic job but I have to give just one star because the owner let me down, BIG TIME.
We live in a city that does not permit overnight parking on the street and our neighbors (on a quiet little cul-​de-​sac) are extremely sensitive to this. Even after being informed that overnight parking wasn’t allowed — and being cited by the police — Ponzini continued to require that his workers park on the street in front of our home every night FOR A WHOLE WEEK! His logic? Supposedly, because the $ 45 parking ticket was cheaper than the cost of the gas that would be necessary to move the truck to another location.
This is COMPLETELY unacceptable!
First of all, he could have baked the cost of relocating the truck into the price of the job and we would have paid it. But, absent that, he could have quite easily moved the truck to any number of other locations (off our cul-​de-​sac) that would have been less likely to cause an uproar from homeowners (next to the local park, for example). Yes, he would have still gotten the parking ticket but no homeowner would have been inconvenienced by his choice to insert his big ugly truck into the neighborhood aesthetic or offended by his flagrant and totally intentional disregard of City law. I’m deeply offended that he intentionally put me in the position of having to defend his selfish choices to my neighbors and friends.
