Rock It at Caspers Wilderness Park 5K/12K

Rock It Racing has an awesome trail racing challenge: The Rock It Fall/​Winter Series!
This year, I’ve decided to concentrate a bit more on trail racing, even if it means running lesser distances; even if it means getting a little muddy, a little dirty; and even if it means sometimes running through lengthy stretches of trees and bush, along single-​runner trails, no one within eye distance… alone. But that’s the beauty, getting back to nature and off the asphalt.
Rock It Racing offers four very cool trail runs: Caspers 5k/​12K, Whiting Ranch 5K/​12K, Irvine Regional Park 15K/​5-​Miler, and El Moro Canyon 6K/​10-​Miler. Running at least 3 of the 4, qualifies you for the special Rocky Series Award, plus a stylish​Rock It Racing trucker hat! I’m down!
Caspers was my first Rock It race – I ran the 12K – and it was a blast! Assuredly, there were times when the trail barely afforded room for one, and navigating through many uneven and rocky paths became a bit challenging, but, again, that’s what I’d wanted. The preserve’s beauty, hidden among the sandstone canyons of the western coastal Santa Ana Mountains, made running fun: compelling groves of oak, awesome strands of sycamore. Seasonal wildflowers add to the beauty. You can’t beat that!
