Location is fine. The food was barely acceptable. The owner was rude and the service was very poor. Been coming here for years and have always really liked Buckys. So disappointing this time.

This place has an amazing black bean burger, fish n chips, and bacon burger. The best part besides their service was their FRIES!

Fish tacos were good. Fish was hand battered, not frozen from a bag(I watched as they were made.) it was late on a rainy day so not many diners, but service was fast and very friendly; not like described in earlier posts. Décor is very simple, like most things on Lopez, but planter boxes on deck were beautiful. Would sit outside on deck if not raining.

I love Buckys! A sweet family run restaurant with the best Fish Tacos I’ve ever had. Try the Ahi if you like something a little spicier but the regular are incredible as well. Really fresh seafood, I’ve never had a bad experience.

Bucky’s stands out for pretty good food and a friendly staff and accommodating kitchen. We ended up here after a real bummer of an attempt to eat across the street. The smoked salmon fettuccine was rich and tasty, though it could have used a fresh element. My husband loved his crab cakes and the Caesar salad was crispy and delicious. The fish and chips were hot, fresh and crispy and devoured by my daughter. And though it wasn’t on the menu, the kitchen was happy to make a plate of plain fettuccine which was gobbled up by my picky water. Our server was so kind and helpful, even offering a more shaded table when one became available. Other menu items looked wonderful and all tables around us seems very happy with their meals.

Sorry to say but the food handler was seen doing the same thing again, Touching numerous items without washing hands. My father in law was told that they had fresh hand dipped fish for fish and chips and in reality they were poured out of a bag. good fries and an excellent location. Go to the Islander for Fish and Chips and the ferry landing(Scurvy Dog) for the best burgers.

I ordered just a side of french fries to go… wow, the person cooking was the business owner and he actually gave me an order of double fried french fries, I think there must have been some left over unused and he added a few fresh ones, then deep fried them. I couldn’t believe it. I took them with me down to the beach to include in a picnic. The only item that was awful… looks can be deceiving…

We day tripped from Seattle to do a 35 mile bike ride of Lopez. After a light breakfast and 20 miles, we were starved and thought the menu at this place sounded fantastic. Especially, the pan fried pacific oysters which me and my boyfriend decided we would both get. We walked in and were not greeted. The décor is awful, but I never judge a book by it’s cover. We sat ourselves and waited for service. And waited, and waited. Our server FINALLY came to our table after chatting in the prep area(please note: we sat 3 tables away from the open line and prep area so we watched the staff’s every move). Our server did not greet us in any way and asked us to order. We both ordered a drink and the oysters. The server then informed us(without apologizing) that they were out. This dish was written on not one but 2 boards as a special. So I ordered the crab melt and Caesar while my bf had the fish tacos. I watched the single«cook» prepare our food and was horrified when he grabbed some sort of meat(hamburger? Maybe fish) placed it on the grill with his bare hands then proceeded to hand toss my salad. Are you kidding me!!! During that 90 minutes we were seated, this man handled all the dished with his bare hands and no washes. After my ecoli salad sat on the line for 15 min, I finally received it warm and soggy. Our food arrived and was somehow worse. I was given an ice cream scoop of luke warm«fresh»(def canned) crab meat smothered in low quality blue cheese and slice of cheddar on top of a cold, untoasted, now soggy hamburger bun. I’ve never seen such an awful dish. I tried, and despite being ravenous, I could not choke that thing down. But I did have 14(seriously, 14) French fries on my plate that were fine. The fish tacos were almost as bad. The fish was dry, covered in bagged purple cabbage. No side. The server grabbed my plate full of uneaten food and did not even asked if I was finished or if something was wrong. I asked politely when she finally returned to speak with a supervisor; she rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen where she proceeded to chat with other staff members. A few minutes later she told Mr. bare-handed-cross-contamination I wanted to talk to a manager. He wiped his hands on his apron and came over. I told him(very tactfully) that the food was not up to par and how indifferent our server was and I was letting him know so maybe he could improve things for the next customer. He did not apologize and then said«I’m surprised because we sell lots of those» and walked away. Because you sell a lot of something does not mean that customers are enjoying it! Especially if there is no quality check and your servers aren’t asking. This place is run by amateurs that have no clue about service, atmosphere, safety, hygiene, or food quality. I am ServSafe certified and this place is not safe to eat at. Not to mention the rude, indifferent staff. I have never been belittled like that at a restaurant. He did remove the charge but did not even acknowledge me when a said«thank you» for doing so. Not to mention that in the 90 minutes we were there, they never took the oysters off the special board. Even after they said they were out. This place WILL go under. I would give negative stars if I could.

We ate here this weekend because the menu looked great. My sister and I ordered Teriyaki Chicken burgers, the special, and my mom ordered a crab melt, which was also on special. It took 20 minutes for them to take our order, and another 45 minutes for our food to come out, and when it did, we were absolutely appalled. My mom was already bummed, because she watched the cook microwave her crab melt, but the worst of it were our teriyaki chicken burgers. The chicken breasts were BLACK. Not just a little burnt that you could scrape off, but like ¼ inch of hardened on CHARCOAL on one entire side. Having worked in restaurants my entire life, I could not believe they served it. My mom’s friend ordered fish tacos, and she said they were pretty good. The french fries were very good. And the meal was $ 60 with tip. Ridiculous. We will never eat here again.

While visiting Lopez for the week we tried to take in as many places as we could in this sweet village. We arrived at Bucky’s for lunch and we were seated right away outside. I ordered the Mahi Fish Tacos and my husband ordered a cheeseburger. We didn’t have to wait long for our meals to come back out. The fish tacos were amazing and we recommended them to friends who continued to go back throughout the week. The help was young, but did their job — sometimes even with a smile on their face. The place seemed busy anytime we biked past! And I can see why! Two thumbs up for Buck’ys!
