Downtown San Leandro Farmers’ Market

I will forever hate this farmer’s market. Now I love coming to farmer’s markets and buying from the local farmers. I went out of my way to come to this bigger market one day after work and boy do I regret it. My wallet got pick pocketed out of my purse while I was walking around. I have a zip up purse but sometimes I don’t zip it up to make it easier to grab cash really fast. Well big mistake that was in this area. I should have realized based on my surroundings that I needed to be careful, but I was being oblivious and it ended up getting my wallet stolen. The worst part of that is not the cash but the trouble of cancelling credit cards and getting a new license is such a pain. Definitely keep an eye on your stuff if you do have to come to this farmer’s market. Otherwise I would just avoid and go to one in a different area.

fresh veggies, vendors are nice, if you want to get the best deals come close to closing time after 640ish they all in a rush to sell out .buy get one free lots of good deals. lol

I like San Leandro’s Farmer’s Market. Too bad it’s only from end of April to October. I wish they had an indoor place that would be open year-​round and at least twice per week.
I come here to get fresh eggs and strawberries, mostly. I did buy some cookies, bread, Indian food, chicken & potatoes, veggies and other fruit in the past, but my main buys are as mentioned before, strawberries and eggs. (A tip how to keep your strawberries fresh for longer:

The vendors are nice and helpful even though they have their hands busy with tons of people that come around throughout the afternoon. If you stick to the same vendors most of the time, you might even get some deals (hint, hint). Though I did hear the best deals come after 7pm since most people are done with shopping by then and the vendors slowly start to pack their cases (the market is open from 4pm ’til 8pm).
Not all Wednesdays are the same. First month (April) is usually a bit «boring» since not all vendors are yet present (there’s also not that many people) and the events don’t start right away. But the more summer approaches, the more themed each week gets. They have cooking demonstrations, drink tastings, live music,… all in all, a tonload of things to keep you occupied.
If you’re up for some fresh and organic food, definitely come and check them out. The prices are sometimes higher than in a regular store, but have in mind that these products are usually better (taken care of) than those you find in your normal grocery store.

I’m so happy I live within walking distance of this farmers market. There are a lot of fruit and veggie vendors, and there are several food stands as well! I look forward to spending several more Wednesday evenings here this summer :)

My favorite part of the year is when the farmers market takes place. From April to Oct. All of the vendors are cool and the fruits and veggies. To get the best deals, it’s best to go after 630. All of the farm vendors start slashing prices to more than 50% off. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.

⁴⁄₁ was the opening day for 2015. Only learned this when I went to my nail appt. There weren’t many vendors. But I know as the season progress, there will be more.

The San Leandro Farmers’ Market is always a fun SL experience in the summer and fall. It is an easy 20 minute walk from our house and last year we finally made the trek on foot to earn our hot link calories. I do usually get a large meaty polish dog or sausage dry I just crave the flavor of the juicy meat balanced with the soft bun no catchup or mustard or relish to distract me.
I have tried the Crepes from the Crepery booth and like the chocolate and banana combination a lot! The Indian food booth is good– we usually get the Chicken Tikka Masala with rice. I like their Samosa also. The lines are never that long and the crowd is not that crazy so it is easy to wander around and not bump into too many others doing the same.
We walk around and just check out all the fresh produce offered here but usually we are just looking since it is all about an easy dinner out. It is just fun to be in a crowd of SL locals all enjoying the same outdoor eating and gathering experience. There is always enough seating to relax, listen to the live music and enjoy the sunny evening as the shadows set in and sun is going down. Sometimes they have a wine tasting booth with a small selection of red and white wine by the glass. I think it is about $ 6 since it is for a fund raiser. We go almost every other week when the Market is open and when we are in town!

Downtown San Leandro Farmer’s Mart is one of the best farmer’s market I been to. I love the selection of produce and especially the unique Asian vegetables. Prices are decent, especially the Asian stand near the flower stand. BTW Flowers are insanely cheap and fresh. I love the food booths, and especially the calamaris, chicken stand, and tacos. Plenty of chair to eat, shop, and enjoy the lovely music. Parking can be difficult, and bring plenty of cash!

I love the fact they have a night time farmers market close to home! This one isn’t quite as good as the night time farmers market in concord but since it’s close to my house it will do. If you go closer to closing time they will have great deals on produce!

Great produce, local honey, baked goods, and other vendors. The lady at the pet snacks stand was a sweetheart. Will definitely be back often!!!

I love how I can get vegetables here that I need for Filipino and Asian cooking! They look much fresher than the ones at the local Asian grocery store or Safeway. You can also find eggs, honey, nuts, pastry, and prepared food vendors here that sell hummus and Indian chutneys.
On certain Wednesdays you can buy glasses of wine and margaritas and enjoy that with your food and live music! I love the lumpias that you can get from the Englander food booth. They’re piping hot and very tasty. It’s $ 8 but they give you about 8 longish pieces. Yummy! Other food booths sell Crepes, Indian food, Mexican food, and Sausages. There’s also a Roli Roti food cart that always has a long line of customers.

Randomly stumbled upon this farmers market while out taking a stroll and enjoying the last few days of summer. Maybe because it was so unexpected am I giving this 5 stars. It had a great assortment of food goods (hummus, bakery, dessert), vegetables and cooked food vendors … I almost regretted the delicious meal I had prior.
My only purchase was $ 4.00 well spent on a bag of caramel popcorn. Which I inhaled while walking around the market.

I discovered that there was a farmer’s market in San Leandro a few weeks ago! It takes up Parrot street, between Washington and E.14^th. It’s small, but definitely worth a go for anyone wanting some fresh fruit now. It is open from 4pm to 8pm. Enough time for those that also work. It’s also good for people who aren’t morning people that want to go to the farmer’s market in the morning but miss it.
Since it’s summer, the stalls are mainly selling strawberries. They also sell food in front of the Englander. What I love going to the farmer’s market is buying hummus! Super delicious. I go back every Wednesdays just for it, along with other samples of fruit there.

One of the best farmers markets in the bay area. a lot of fresh produce and unique buys you just can not get at stores. Be sure and bring your own bag and cash as many of the vendors do not accept credit cards.

I love coming to this Farmer’s Market. Even though it is not the biggest farmer’s market and does not have as extensive variety of products as some others (ex: Lake Merritt), it has a lot of the basics (potatoes, green onions, apples, nuts, honey, etc.) and a great community atmosphere.
Favorites:
+Roli Roti: Amazing rotisserie chicken and potatoes, definitely worth waiting in line.
+Hummus Heaven: Great at letting you sample all the flavors till you find the one for you. Chips are delicious as well!
+ Feel Good Bakery: The pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are heavenly!
Tips:
+Definitely shop around to try and find the cheapest prices. One time I bought a basket of strawberries for $ 5, when a few booths down, there was another basket of strawberries for $ 3
+If driving, try to get there early around 4 – 4:30pm as the parking lot by Parrott Street and E. 14^th Street would still have plenty of free parking spots available.
+Don’t forget your reusable grocery bag!

My family and I visited this farmers market for the first time recently. We really enjoyed ourselves and have been back a few more times. My 7 y/​o was entertained by the balloon man, huge slide and jumper. He also enjoyed sampling the juicy strawberries and flavored nuts.
My husband and I enjoyed a really good Louisiana hot link, that was actually hot and had a great snap to every bite and was really quite juicy. We also had a teriyaki chicken skewer that was pretty tasty and juicy too. Both were from the Meyer BBQ stand located in the parking lot next to the Englander. If you like hot links, you must try one from Meyer. Peter’s Kettle Corn is right next door to Meyer’s. Grab a bag of warm kettle corn to munch on while strolling the market or to bring home. My husband has tried the taco plate from Martha’s Mexican food, which is on the other side of Peter’s, and he wasn’t impressed. So far, this spot has been the only disappointment.
This is actually a nice sized farmers market with a variety of vendors. The usual fruit and veggie stands with organic and non organic produce. Fresh eggs and local honey are also available.
Visiting this Farmers Market has become our new Wednesday night ritual. We get the kids out of the house and have a nice family night. Best part, I don’t have to cook for the evening :) Unfortunately, this evening market only runs from April 18 — October 17^th for this year.

This is my favorite farmers’ market, whether I’m dropping by for 15 minutes for 2 – 4 specific items like I did today or hanging out and browsing with the bestie (who lives within walking distance, lucky girl) for an hour or more. I anxiously await the market’s opening in May and bemoan its closing in October.
In addition to getting fresh veggies and fruits, I like to buy eggs, those wonderful cheese breadsticks from Feel Good, and occasionally Hawaiian shaved ice.
Some tips:
*Invest in washable cloth bags for your purchases. They are $ 1 each.
*There is also a big parking lot off East 14^th across the street from the market. I usually find a great parking spot a block away off Washington across from the old Vo’s, by the house of cats (today’s tally: five felines.)

After strolling the market a few times now it keeps growing and getting new vendors.
If you live in SL you will run into someone you know so do put a little effort into your appearance. It’s a small town and you can’t hide.
Many vendors for the typical fruits and veggie shopping that are in season. Flowers, the ballon man that entertains the kiddies walking by, farm fresh eggs, Indian food, Italian goodies, hand crafted jewelry, Beckman’s with their yummy baked items, many food stands to grab a quick dinner and enjoy some sort of live entertainment (I.e cooking demos, zumba, and music depending on the night).
Come and check it out, it is worth a trip.

Love this local Farmer’s Market and so lucky to have it nearby home. FM offers a variety of local, farm fresh and organic fruits and veggies as well as freshly baked goods and live entertainment. The greatest part is how local everything and everyone is, not to mention that having it from small shops and family farms makes buying at the FM much more appealing. It’s perfect for a casual date or bringing your kids, or even happy hour!
The location is perfect and there’s plenty of parking; free street parking after six! It’s right in the Englander/​The Vine’s parking lot so you can have some happy hour beer and wine, meaning enjoying the live entertainment and food stalls. My favorite is Charlie’s Corn and Sons, it’s their baked potato (5) that gets me every time! Talk about a banging potato from heaven. Their oven roasted corn is fresh and crunchy, buttered and salted, with every bite and kernel stuck in my teeth. This FM’s food selection is a lot different from the Oakland/​SJ/​Temscal and other local ones where it offers a greater variety! Hotter days are snow cones and frozen bananas, but it doesn’t stop the charcoal grills from heating up and serving all that meat.
Worth it buy and the veggies are always fresh. The prices are reasonable and vendors are beyond friendly. You come and get along, in no time it comes a first name basis and we’re all friends!
Sadly this FM is only during the summer days-​such a bummer since it has so much to offer to San Leandro! So perfect for children too since there’s a giant blow up slide and a balloon man. Adults and friends will love it because it’s that sort of environment on a Wednesday evening where you want to relax and wondering the local streets of San Leandro among other people.
But make sure you have cash! There’s a BoA and Chase nearby, but I know one of the wine vendors takes credit cards.

I have the unfortunate luck of usually having to work Wednesday evenings during the summer, the only damn day of the week the farmer’s market occurs, just a block or two down the street.
Today I took a stand against my corporate job that pays the bills and that I also shop at and decided to take a stroll down to the festivities. During my short ten minute break. Why I haven’t ever gone to the farmer’s market, despite having lived here my entire life, I don’t know. Better late than never?
There are a ton of stalls set up along Parrot St., and there’s so much liveliness around you that it’s tough to choose where you want to start. I found this great stall that was selling tropical snickerdoodle cookies — the traditional snickerdoodle with pineapple (which I hate but I didn’t mind in this application) and papaya mixed in. I got to try a sample and was blown away, it was so fresh, fruity, and good.
Another stall I visited was selling incredibly fresh, creamy, delicious cheese, some made from cow’s milk and others from goat’s milk. What was funny was that the woman behind the table offered me cheese the moment she saw me pause by her stall, then kept giving me samples of all their cheeses, but when she asked, expectantly, which one I was buying, gave me a snotty ass look when I told her I wasn’t sure and would be back after I looked around the market. Nice attitude lady, I was considering buying one of your tiny blocks of overpriced, albeit delicious cheese — consider a sale gone. Until next week, when I may have decided to give you another chance and want more free samples. Then I’ll probably give in.
I picked up a little over a pound of a mixed variety of cherries from another stall for 6 bucks, and they were very good and sweet. Since I had ten minutes to make a power run through the market I didn’t get to experience a fraction of what is available, but plan on returning next week to write a more robust review. Definitely a great first impression from the market, and made me eager to come back and check out the many, many more things the farmer’s market has to offer here.
