Interestingly enough… this place is now closed… hmmmm, I wonder why?

This place lacks ambiance and healthy options. But really who cares. The chicken tenders and fries were tasty. I wasn’t disappointed. No oily nasty after taste. The food was made to order so I’m down with that, nothing is grosser than fried food sitting under heating lamps for hours. Not my favorite fried chicken joint, I like the unintentional campy nature of it all… it really serves up tasty fired food with a slice of life.

I understand having to find work after your juvenille hall stint, but why does it have to result in a fast food staff fulfillment ? The food here warrants no mention. They would deep fry the menu, given the chance

**a dose of tums was required as an ending to this meal** Whats not fried on the menu… the bread? Its not a regret but its a lesson learned, probably not again. My poor stomach can’t handle it. Fries served with cheese sticks and fried mushrooms. It was all greasy and somewhat good but its just a sin really. Everything was made to order and as fresh as fried can get. Ranch and ketchup but no marinara… if its ever a redo I am getting maranara from jackinthecrack… meh. They do have fresh desserts but I didn’t want a heart attack on this visit… one or the other next time.

This place is a joke. The food is digusting and I’d have to agree with the other Unilocalers… The staff is horrible.

FISHFRIDAY: So we did it again folks… BF-Jayson & I made our«Fish Friday» dinner take-out last night *tee-hee*. Didn’t venture back out to Oakland’s Aqua Fresh Seafoods tho, this time we ventured to San Leandro’s JJ Fish & Chicken This was my 1st dinning experience period @ this establishment, while BF has tasted it 2-go @ their Oakland location. The food is great! BUT as other fellow Unilocalers state, «this» location needs guidance on customer service or hire folks w/a welcoming personality… if that was on point, 3-star potential. LOCATION: Inside San Leandro’s Greenhouse Marketplace Shopping Center on the block-intersection of Lewelling Blvd & Washington Ave. When driving Southbound on Hwy 880, you’ll pass it on right side just after Washington St exit; basically opposite side of Hwy 880 from Walmart and In & Out Burger. Greenhouse Marketplace Shopping Center has McD’s, Subway, Jack In The Box, Safeway, 99Cent Store, Big Lots, Starbucks, & plenty more. JJ Fish & Chicken is located next to Blockbuster Video, closest to the corner of Lewelling & Washington. Plenty of parking in shared lot. RESTAURANT: The store front isn’t hard to miss lite up or not Upon entrance, cash register in front & dinning area to the right. Inside there’s about 54-seater tables & armless chairs to each table… all aligned against windows for your viewing pleasure. Dessert is further down right side of counter behind glass; most desserts such as red velvet cake, banana pudding, peach cobbler, & more are purchased from Marita’s Sweet Potato Pie in San Leandro(if you haven’t been here yet, GOGOGO! ) Online menu to menu inside restaurant seemed off on a few items like a difference of $.50-$ 1 really. no biggie, but would be nice if they both matched. Overall restaurant appeared clean, open, & spacious. CUSTSVC: If I could rate Zero Stars for customer service, I would! First visit, & awful first impression =(Young gent behind counter had no retail customer service pizazz, let alone basic experience, what’s so ever, or just didn’t give a damn. No welcome or how can I help you… just a blank stare w/pen in hand ready to take order. Then slouched or rested upper body over the the counter since BF& I weren’t immediately ready… yeah his body language was like«F***, hope ya’ll don’t take forever to fig out what u want». I tried to bring a smile on his face saying it was my 1st time here so just bare w/us… I think I cracked a smile, but didn’t really fade into an attitude adjustment. He spoke too soft, so I had to ask him to repeat himself & louder @ times… I just didn’t get it. His body language to me was«I could care less if this place gets customers or not».just not good. Maybe he’s just a guy who just needs a job, but retail cust svc NOT his fo-tay! Even while we sat & waited about 5−7min for our food, I was reflective of dude’s personality, or lack of. Sorry but based on this cat, cust svc w/the public wasn’t professional, warm, welcoming, & would not make me want to come back. TASTES: My star rating seems to come merely just from the food! We got a side order of Jalapenos w/Cheese which to me was just an XL version of jalapeño popers. Although they had cooled down by the time we got back home in Castro Valley, they were pretty tasty & still warm. I got the Small Dinner of Catfish Nuggets &BF got the Small Dinner of Jumbo Shrimp Both orders come w/2 slices of toasted brown bread(which is hidden under seafood/chkn items) & crispy french fries w/the option of tarter sauce or coleslaw; we opted for tarter sauce on both *tee-hee*. The fries had a nice batter-crunch to them. could’ve been double-fried, but they were good. Jumbo Shrimp WERE large & catfish nuggets were plentiful! Shrimp had english batter while catfish had cornmeal batter… both coated & cooked nicely, & tasted delicious =) The food was a great experience for us. FINALTAB: Came out w/final tab of $ 24.88 for 2 small fish orders &1 side order. Overall the food was great & has«come back ability», but customer svc held it back for a higher rating. They could’ve had a 3-star rating from me if cust svc picked up the slack for this fast food joint. Would I come back? Eeeh, I prob would… stay tuned. — — — ONLINEMENU: *** HINT! Okay, no «hating» whatsoever from me just an honest experience as a customer and basic observation. I like JJ’s as an establishment as a whole, I used to frequent the one on International Blvd.(before they put up the bulletproof glass counter… I’m just sayin…) when I lived in Oakland. Yesterday for the first time I went to the one in San Leandro where I live now. Let’s just say I’ve had much better experiences at the GYNO. This guy at the counter took about 5 minutes to even acknowledge my presence. Mind you there was only one lady there ahead of me and he was bagging up her order 2 feet from the counter, meaning there should be no wait in you taking my order because she had already placed hers. So whatever maybe he’s not a multitasker… okay great. I place my order and after having to repeat it to him twice, he disappears to the back. Comes back and gives me my total. So I’m waiting for my food. He goes to the back again and makes himself something to eat. LITERALLYINMYFACE he proceeds to eat his hot dog or hot link or whatever. This is not the part that tripped me out though. After downing his little meal he goes to the little freezer/fridge they have directly behind the counter with bottled waters in it and gets a bottle of water out and drinks a couple sips and put it’s BACK into the freezer/fridge. I’ve never seen something so crazy and unprofessional in my life. I’ll give them 3 stars just based on the fact that when I got home and ate my food it was actually good, so kudos to the guy in the back cooking, but that person at the counter really needs a customer service class. Will I go back to JJ’s? Yes, just not the one on Lewelling & Washington.

not the best that i wished for but hey its fried chicken and not bad… its pretty close to my favorite sushi spot but on the other side of Jack in the Box next to Blockbuster… the chicken wings were huge. drum sticks larger than average… i think they use chickens that take steroids or something… hahaha wings like the Phở noodle spots… like a boomerang as my coworker buddy put it… fries are tasty and seasoned nicely… my next visit will be the fish being that its called JJ“S Seafood. Oh the red velvet cake is yummy!!! try that its a five outta five stars just on the cake!!!

Why all the hating on JJ Fish! I never order the chicken, but the fish is the bomb. They have some special seasoning they put on the fish and fries that makes the food even better. The one downside is the place could be cleaner, and the customer service is not always the best. But for good fish, it doesn’t get too much better then JJ Fish! Stop all the hating!

If they had a Zero star, this establishment would get it. Somebody needs to call the public health department on this place. I went here to get some seafood, and after I got my order, I forgot to ask for water, so I turn around and the guy had put a ciggarette is his mouth in the kitchen. He was about to light it had I not caught him, he immediatly dropped the ciggaratte. I was sick to my stomach after seeing that. I hope this place gets shut down, it is so unsanitary.

Went to this place just to try it out. We ordered chicken tenders and combo fish and shrimp. Fries sucked and everything else was over cooked. The other reviewers were right this place has to go.

JJ Fish and chicken has got to go. These places have been poping up everywhere. The food here taste very plain, no taste at all. Just a spot to go get some way over priced plain chicken and fish. If you want to waste your money come here. Staff, are some gangstas. Dont know how to take orders and does not know how to greet customers. «Whats up blood what do you want?» Is that how you talk to your customers?

*2.5 stars* Fried, fried and more fried food… But fried to order! We ordered two catfish nugget dinners, a fried oyster dinner, a hot wing dinner, a red snapper dinner and a side of fried okra. Their dinners come with a measly, yet tasty, side of coleslaw, 2 slices of white bread and a good amount of fries. I think they would safely save face if they just left out the white bread altogether… what a waste. I thought both fishes were overcooked, fries were slightly undercooked(read that as soggy, but once re-heated in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes, they were perfectly crispy), the wings came with the hot sauce on the side(not that great«naked» but with the hot sauce — um, YUM!), the oysters were pretty darn good and so was the okra. Not sure if I will return anytime soon because I thought that for what we got, the price was kinda steep… over $ 40 for 5 small dinners + a side dish… But one never knows. I might just not order so much just to avoid the sticker shock. Oh yeah, and they serve desserts from Marita’s… the place that serves those giant red velvet cupcakes(which I think are overrated… but that’s another review).
