Worst customer service ever! I called this guy to
Help me find some needles. He never came. Then I see him walking in the same isle I was looking for the needles and I call him. He literally walked right past me and didn’t even turn. My husband saw this and went after him and said hey you didn’t hear her calling you? And came back and said yes I did but I’m busy. I have 3 people calling me at the same time. I was just like hey I work with people I know what being really busy is, but that was just rude and disrespectful. we left and didn’t get anything. Went to Walmart and found them cheaper. -.-

Worst service ever people there are very slow the see you waiting and dont think about calling another employee to come and help you (they have the earpiece to call anybody on the floor) they just stare at you and do other things when they can help you out I think this is more important then putting things away I had plans to buy fabric but the lady took so long to cut just one yard that I decided to only take that. Went to the register and again same problem One register open so I left the fabric on the counter and took off

The costumer service was horrible from some workers but others were nice. This worker took every one before me when it was my turn just because I didn’t grab a number but it was my first time buying there and i ask the girl that was there where we had to get them but she was not using them she just took the next one in line we were all in a line. I was next and this idiot came to help her and he told me well u needed to get a number when i told him i was next. He said I’m just going to take numbers. I send my boy to get a number which it was one of the las ones since i didnt get one from the biggining. While the stupid guy was taking the other people that got numbers and had just got there. I was not the only one with out a number but as soon as they heard this from that guy every one hurry to get a number so i was last after being there first. Thank god the other lady help me when she finish with the one that was before me. She saw me stending there and knew i was there for a while. She said i can help u. So she did.

Okay so we were purchasing fabric, and the lady named beatrice ruined our experience while we were there. Very rude to customers and lacking passion about her job apparently, go find another job! Wont be coming back

Today was my second disappointing experience at Jo-​Ann Fabric. As previously stated by other customers, the stores is understaffed. A couple months ago I visited to get some fabric. My own personal experience was fine however there was an unexperienced customer trying to buy a pattern, and she was brought to tears by the way she was treated by staff. She had taken a number from their DMV-​like number system and she patiently waited her turn only to be told that they do not help with patterns. «You have to do it yourself!» As my fabric was being cut I noticed tears in the woman’s eyes, so I decided to help her.
Today’s experience was a little different. First, I was having trouble locating the restroom, so I stopped to ask one of the Jo-​Ann associates on the floor. Apparently she was talking on her walkie talkie and quickly shushed me before pointing to the «Home» sign. I was greeted by a horrible stench, visibly soiled floor, no paper towels, and a disgruntled customer on her way out of the bathroom, disgusted with its condition. After making my selection I proceeded to a long line of customers at the cashier. The cashier, working from two registers simultaneously, called me over before finishing with her previous customer and ordered me to put my selection the counter in front of the other register. I handed her my phone to view my electronic gift card, a Christmas present from a friend. «I can’t take a phone gift card!» I explained that everything was right there on the screen and that the email even said I could use it in store, online, or over the phone. «We don’t take orders over the phone.» I replied, «Well, I don’t know why an email from Jo-​Ann Fabrics would say that if I can’t use it over the phone and in store. Needless to say I paid with cash because my electronic gift card was treated as a fake, and I was sent away without any hope of ever being able to use my $ 50 gift card.
P. S. Every Jo-​Ann store I have ever visited has had filthy restrooms.

Well lit and good selection. Very little customer service available usually. Isles could be marked better with the lack of available service. Otherwise a good store.

I forgot to mention in my previous review that I DID call and they said they had the items we were looking for.
I apologize for leaving that part out after receiving a Unilocal Message saying I should have called.

i can see where customer service could be bad on the weekend but fortunately, on a weekday its awesome… granted there was only 1 person at the register with no line!
Place is really organized and well stocked with craft, baking, sewing items and competitive prices. I’d pay a little more for an organized store which makes shopping fun and pleasant.

I love this store but after today’s visit I’m appalled I never saw this before (unless it’s just on sale days) I couldn’t find one person on the floor to ask a question so I had to pull a number and the trim section to be helped one girl was helpful but as I’m looking again for something nobody around until I made it to the very back and found an employee I asked for a trim and she said check the trim area that’s where it would be in a laughing manner. I clearly know where the trimming is what I wanted was someone to actually go and help me look for it. Thanks much I won’t come on busy sale days again

I always love trips to Jo-Ann’s. Whether it be to fulfill my fabric needs or to get all crafty, one of my craft store go-to’s are one of Jo-Ann’s various locations and having this location open up way back when was a blessing. While I want to give this specific location four stars, I’m hesistant because of how understaffed this location is. If you don’t care to read a personal experience I had… skip over the next two paragraphs FYI.
This location is incredibly UNDERSTAFFED. So hollah if you need a part-​time job (and you’re 18+)…they’re looking to hire or if they’re not, they really should because… it’s not that their workers are unfriendly and accomodating, it’s that it’s realy hard to deal with random rushes when only four people are working. Need an example? My sister and I came in and we found that the item we wanted to purchase was in a locked cabinet and therefore, we needed to find an employee to help us get said item. Proceeded to look around entire store and no employees were to be found beyond the ONE cashier and then THREE employees at the cutting counter where many customers were waiting for their numbers to be called. In the hopes of avoiding this line, we went to the cashier and she informed us that she couldn’t leave her post and we needed to take a number at the cutting area and then wait our turn. Totally understandable, I get it — man the money. However, as I waited for my number I saw the workers at the fabric gradually disappear until there was only one manning that area. I later realized one went to the cashier’s area so that two registers would be open, which I get BUT when I tried to find the other girl… nope, she seemed to have disappeared. Cool. I was patiently waiting for my number to be called (I was the last one to take a number), the employee was hesistant to help me and wasn’t too friendly about it… it was off-​putting, but there was no one else around the fabrics area and I literally needed one thing.
While I understand and have worked in situations similar to environments that these workers have been placed in, I think for the customer’s sake situations such as these can be avoided by 1) Hiring more people, which is understandably easier said than done or 2) Monitoring/​Creating a more effective system of ensuring customer’s can come in-​and-​out of the store with ease.
REGARDLESS OF ALL THAT, THIS JO-ANN’S IS AWESOME. If you’re only here to browse and don’t need to get fabric, ribbons, stuff locked away in cabinets, etc. you’re all set. This is by far one of the cleanest and well-​organized Jo-Ann’s locations I have encountered & unlike some Unilocaler’s experiences — I find that’s incredibly well-​stocked for the supplies I need to get my crafts/​projects completed! They also usually have clearance or marked down items that I love to peruse and window shop (and oftentimes, eventually buy…*ya girl can’t help it), which are all fun to look at!
TIP — Keep your lookout for deals/​coupons and if you’re a student you can get extra discounts and deals too! Just ask about it or google online!
tl;dr — Overall, this Jo-Ann’s is a great place to go for crafting or fabric needs. Just be prepared to wait a while to get your items cut/​processed/​out of cabinets or even to checkout. Allot more time than you would think you need to buy that paint/​paintbrush kind of dealioooo.

Called before coming in to make sure they had a specific product. I made sure to explain I was coming from far away and didn’t mind holding while someone specifically checked for the item. They assured me they had it. When I came in they DID NOT have it. I wasted ½ my day driving here, and didn’t get what I needed. All because of lazy employees. They even tried to blame me for «misunderstanding» what I was told. Trust me, I wouldn’t have driven this far if they haven’t assured me they had what I needed! Ugh!!!

Aisles are usually stocked well with what you need and tons of fabric to spare, or else you can special order it! As other reviewers have stated its always an issue finding help as they are always short staffed. You should be able to gather everything you need in one stop but prepare for some long wait times.

Good inventory, terrible lackluster slow and standoffish «service». To corporate, please devise a strategic plan to fix your customer support teams.

If i could give no stars i would, I went there to look for a stocking kit and was told «I dont know I havent checked the new stock yet but you can check these aisles» really All ur stock was out in boxes on the shelfs, I tried myself to read the labels on the boxes and couldnt always tell what was inside so I figured I’d…guess I will just buy them online.

Worst customer service. Big selection but you wait in enormous lines because they are too cheap to hire enough people to check our customers. They have 7 cashier stations and never have more than 2 open. It’s a huge store but you can never find anyone on the floor to help so you wander around list. Since its a craft store there are always little old ladies and «crafters» with millions of questions so it takes FOREVER to check out. Don’t come here unless you have hours to wait. They don’t care about customers

One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I came in with my wife one week ago to purchase some fabric for a home DIY project. The fabric selection was plentiful and, by memory, much more extensive than other craft stores. That was the last good thing about this store. After selecting the fabric and foam for our project we went to the mid store counter to have our selection measure and cut. The girl who helped us was very rude and seemed genuinely disinterested in helping us. When we got to the counter she was busy chatting with another coworker behind the counter. She then rudely instructed us to take a number before she’d help us. Wow, considering the two were doing nothing, no other customers were around us needing help and it seemed as though we were greatly inconveniencing her from meaningless conversation about her recent events. Then the topper was the poor communication skills she illustrated. Both my wife and I heard her clearly say the foam was $ 7.99 per yard. So I said ok and asked for a length of seventy inches. When she gives us the tag for the cashier it says the foam is $ 172. After bring it to her attention in questioning wonderment she said that was right. Despite two people hearing her clearly, twice, quote that price before even cutting it she argued that is not what she told us. Even when arguing that misquoted cost she did it again, before slowly correcting herself saying that what she told us was actually $ 79.99 per yard. Furthermore, she was quite baffled at how to cut foam and had to call for help.
The cashier line was long and slow. Once at the counter the girl stepped away to answer a phone as we finally stepped up to the checkout register. She kept us waiting as she waited timidly waiting to ask a question for the caller of another coworker. No «Excuse Me» or sorry for the delay when stepping away or returning to the register. The one star is for the selection of fabrics we found, the four lost stars are three for the horrible service and argumentative employee.
The foam was purchased at another store in Fremont for almost 50% less. That «Foam Factory» had remarkably lower prices and way better service. We are unlikely to return to this Jo-​Ann location. And others if at all.

I’ve been here a couple times and each time it was not pleasant. The first time I went I got one item and had to wait in a long line and a long time to pay for it; and the worse part the cashier was a very unpleasant person. She was friendly to the person before me and when I came up she didn’t smile, make small talk or make eye contact.
The second time I went, which was a few days before this review, it was around 8:30pm and I was looking for a very specific item. I went looking for someone to help me and when I found someone, the look she gave me was «Why are you bothering me and get the F*** away». Despite that I asked her about the item and they said they don’t carry it in the stores only online. (Given all the security issues recently and I think they have been hacked, there was no way I was going to order the items online). So I just left and ordered the items on Amazon.
Overall, as several other reviewers have mentioned, this store has terrible customer service, if any. If you don’t have to interact with the workers, don’t… or better yet go to another Jo-Ann’s that has customer service.

When doing special order make sure you get a written guarantee on delivery. Otherwise all you’ll get is the run around. They either call you later than you except or not call at all. The store manager told me she would call me on a specific day and she didn’t. Disappointment!!! Angry!!! If I can rate this store if no star I would, but I can’t so they get 1 star.

Four stars because this Joann’s as a huge selection of fabric and crafts to choose from. I was able to find everything I was looking for and more: a few feet of brown, red, black, white, and grey felt and fabric glue. It was a bit annoying trying to find someone to help me to look for everything. The only people that were able to help me were the people behind the counter cutting fabric and ringing up items. Inconvenient for everyone on a busy Sunday afternoon. Because no one was around to help my shopping experience took longer than normal. But the people that did help me were friendly and seemed to know what they’re talking about.
I’m a newb with fabric so here what I took from today. The fabric minimum is an ¹⁄₈ which goes for below $ 2.
I got an ¼, ¼, ½, 21/​2, ¼ and fabric glue and my total was $ 31

Overall, you get a good deal but a frustrating process to shop.

This doesn’t have anything special that the other Joann’s stores don’t have. However, be prepared for rude people working there and long lines. I have yet to have a time when I don’t spend a good amount of time in line.
I came here on New Years Eve and didn’t realize they had special store hours. I walked in as usual only to have an old woman working at the counter (I think she was in charge then) yelling that they were closed and telling another girl at the counter to lock the door. I looked around a bit confused– people were still browsing and the lady who was two steps ahead of me had zoomed off into the store. The older woman told the girl to lock the door and make sure I left also for coming in after they closed. The girl looked very uncomfortable. Seriously, I’m not a child– all you need to do is ask. I left, still amazed at how rude she was. I checked my phone. It was 5 minutes until they were scheduled to close. Now, don’t get me wrong. I know that you want to get home on time and it’s cutting it close. However, I didn’t appreciate the experience especially because 1– they’re not your normal hours so it’s not unusual that people are unaware. 2– you literally kicked me out after I’d gone in. 3– there was no consideration as to whether this would be a quick run. I needed one item (stabilizer for embroidering) and definitely would’ve taken less time than the lady still browsing through the fabrics.
Generally, this store is also really disorganized with management. I’ve signed up for a class with them before and the instructor double booked. They never let me know the class was canceled. I got there and it took 15 minutes after the start time for them to realize it. A complete waste of time.
I really hope they get their act together.

This place has just about the same selection as any joann so there’s nothing extraordinary about it, but the staffing is always short. Everytime I come in there’s only one person working the register with a line of at least 10 people. They need to hire more people! Bottom line. If you really need something from joanns I recommend either fremont or dublin. You most likely won’t have to wait in line for 20 minutes just to make your purchase.

This Jo-​Ann Fabric & Craft Store is located in the Green House Market Place Shopping Center in San Leandro, which previously used to be a Big Lots. I wonder why Big Lots closed and left…
We came here to browse around for the pots and pottery that are on sale in the clearance section of the store. The store is much smaller than the one closest to me which is in Fremont in the Pacific Commons.
We browsed around and at first we didn’t find any of the pots on sale here but then as we continued to browse the store, we then found the section where they keep their pots and other garden stuff on sale or not.
The selection here was very limited compared to what the Fremont store had to offer. The Fremont store had a greater variety of pots and pottery and other garden stuff on clearance. Although, we did end up finding some pots and pottery on sale for a good price.
So we proceeded to the register and the lady who helped us, right away went out and said, «These are already on clearance /​sale, so no coupons can be used». I mean, really? That’s the first thing your gonna say to a customer… no hi, no how are you? The Fremont store has never said that to us when we purchase things like this. When we showed her the coupon we had via our smartphone, she then said something like «oh, yeah this one you can use»…
Shopping carts can be taken out to the parking lot, however, they will lock if taken beyond the parking lot boundary. The whole shopping center uses this technology to keep shopping carts in the shopping center rather than out.
Parking can be a hassle here because well, this shopping center generates such a great amount of business!

Good finds of sale accessories and knick knacks. .huge place for shopping all kinda of art craft works and sales are always 60% off most of the times.

When I need my crochet fix this is the place that I go. They have they yarn, tools, and even books that I need when I’m starting a project.

If you are a beginner at doing crafts or think you want to start, Jo-​Ann has classes that can help you on your way. If you are advanced in your crafting Jo-Ann’s can help supply you with the tools to continue your projects.

First Unilocal Review Ever:
RUDE EMPLOYEE & MANAGER! Associate Julie & Manager Pete!
Never have I had such a negative experience with not only an associate but also someone who claimed to be the General Manager! Joined Unilocal just to share how AWFUL the customer service is at this location! I called just a few moments ago and spoke with an employee named Julie. I asked if they had an item in-​stock as I am disabled and only need the one item and don’t need to make the trip if it isn’t available. I was told hastily that they were busy and to call back later. I asked to speak with a supervisor or someone who could help me. I was then transferred to Pete, who VERY RUDELY in an annoyed tone informed me that he was the General Manager and was standing next to Julie at the Cash register and he was NOT leaving HIS register to check anything for me! Then as I ask his name, HE HUNG UP ON ME!
What kind of customer service is that?! If I am there in person or not I am still a customer and do not deserve to be treated so rudely! I called back this time asking for the District Manager’s number, I was again transferred from Julie to Pete the manager who barked the numbers at me so quickly I could barely make them out and as I repeated them to confirm I had the right number (I was one digit off) he spoke even more rudely and loudly! Then as he was finished I told him «I don’t appreciate being hung up.» .and before I could finish my sentence «Click!» HUNG UP ON AGAIN, BY THE MANAGER!
The District Manager whom I called and spoke with apologized and asked if they offered to take my number and call me back, they did not. She offered to call the location and check for the item. I have not heard back, but with such poor customer service I can’t say I’m surprised! I not only will NEVER shop this location again, but I will inform all my friends and family to shop elsewhere as well!
