LA Tailor Shop

Total waste of my time.
First attempt I decided to walk over since my home isn’t to far away. Unilocal says business is open, it was during business hours however the business was closed, sign said he was supposed to be back the day before.
Second try, called the business number and got strange message about the number not being valid (yes, I had the right number).
Third attempt he is open and there. Took in some jeans to be hemmed, long sleeved shirts that needed to be made into short sleeved shirts and a pair of jeans to have a rip fixed.
With out really looking at the jeans he says he can’t fix them. Now I have fixed rips in other jeans in the same exact spot, but just don’t have time to do it. So if I can fix the same rip why can’t he.
Guess having so much business you can turn it away is nice.

Angel does good work for a fair price. I have had many items tailored here all well done. In fact I’ll be going back shortly. Highly recommended.

I recently came here to get my dress for banquet hemmed since I am vertically challenged and since the back of my dress has a small train at the bottom, they worked around that and made it fitting to my size. It was only $ 20 and done within 3 days.
They are very much so accommodating to my needs and very patient and heard my needs.
I love this place!

My brother takes his jeans into get hemmed. $ 10 bucks per paid. That’s quite a deal. Angel is his go to guy!

Fast, friendly, and service with a smile. This place is great! A little hard to find because the shop is inside the building but there’s a small sign out front to point you in. We paid the extra fee to get our stuff done right away and the tailor actually had our stuff ready the very next day!!! :) We will definitely be returning!!!

Angel Angel Angel! He is a gentleman and a skilled tailor! He is not into up selling unneeded alterations, I brought in a suit that was picked out for me for a wedding I was in and the suit was a horrible fit. I’m a bigger dude and the suit was a modern fit suit (slim fit) I told him I was planning on donating the suit following the wedding. He worked with me and did wonders to the feel for the day of the wedding while not sinking too much money into a suit I was going to get rid of. Great guy and skilled craftsman

Angel was a very pleasant, accommodating man. He helped me out with professionalism and courtesy. Even for rush orders, he was very helpful, giving me options. It was very clear that he knew what he was doing. And the cost was reasonable, too. Finding parking space was fine. Make sure that you bring cash, because they don’t accept credit cards. I would definitely bring my other clothes to alter here in the future.

Every top I buy needs the sleeves shortened. Suits are no exception. I was looking for a tailor that showed to be on Washington Av. but when I got there I couldn’t find the suite number. LA tailor is right off of the street on Estudillo, easy parking, drop off in the morning and get same day service. This guy is a real tailor. Did a great job on the sleeves of my suit.
Going to try to bring him more stuff, soon.

This is my new go-​to place for alterations!
I used to take everything to Janet’s on Joaquin, but she closed last year after MANY years in business. She even did alterations on my wedding dress. I took three pairs of pants to another alterations shop in San Leandro after Janet closed, and it was a disaster. Even though I tried on the pants in the shop so they could be altered to measurement, they all came back too long! Waaaaay to long. They were just cut at the existing cuff and hemmed.
This place is great, and has a dressing room if trying things on and having them altered to measurement is important to you. Very quick turn around and incredibly professional.

Here are my reasons why I like this place:
1. The shop is located in safe neighborhood. It is easy to find and parking is easy. Very conveniently located.
2. The shop is clean and very presentable for customers. I’ve been to many tailor shops and they’re not always clean and presentable. You won’t find the shop to be smelly, littered with pieces of garments on the floor, dusty and dirty, especially, in the changing room.
3. The cost is reasonable and comparable.
4. The owner is a seasoned tailor. He knows what he’s talking about. He worked on several suits, pants, blazers, etc of mine.
5. He’ll give you his professional and honest assessment if the work is worth it or not. For example, he recommended I should just buy a new jacket with the same amount of money I would pay him. Others would just take my money, but Angel (the owner) will give an honest and professional opinion if you ask him.
6. He does a good quality work.
7. He actually dresses professional when he works unlike other tailors that I’ve been to.

Decided to check out this local tailor as I needed 3 pairs of slacks altered. Found the great reviews for Angel and his shop and popped on over. I got 3 pairs done in 5 business days, $ 10 each. The work was done exactly to measurements and was a friendly, easy transaction. I’ll definitely be a returning customer.

I decided to come here after seeing the awesome Unilocal reviews, and was not disappointed!
The place is small, but easy to find in the building (walk straight after entering the front door, and his shop on the left hand side). After a previous poor hemming job, my pant suit needed one pant leg re-​hemmed after it came loose. Pant hems are usually $ 10, but since it was once side, I was charged $ 5. Angel said it would be ready in one week. I paid him $ 5 (CASH ONLY), and was on my way.
Two days later, I received a call from Angel saying my pants were ready (5 days early!). When I went in to pick them up, he said that he reinforced the other pant leg as well! Great customer service :)
Highly recommended! Do not hesitate to bring Angel any of your tailoring needs!

Ángel has been a tailor for decades and is the sole proprietor to LA Tailors. He’s the classic, old school tailor: well dressed, good humor, warm, and skilled at his craft. And to top it off, reasonably priced for quality workmanship.
I bought a high quality wool suit and needed the waist taken in and legs hemmed on the slacks. He accommodated me with a two day turn around (could have even done it next day). The «blind stitching» on the hem was finely crafted and the more difficult reduction on the waist was perfect.
Support this small business owner in San Leandro as Ángel is a highly skilled craftsman producing quality work at a reasonable price.

Angel is an amazing tailor, I am so happy I’ve found him. I took him a very thick, heavy Superdry peacoat that I’ve had for months but have been unable to wear because it was much too big in the shoulders and body and looked like it was overwhelming me. I tried to take it to my regular tailor, Best Alterations in Alameda, but unfortunately they were unable to do the work because of how thick the coat was.
After calling multiple places, to no avail, I finally remembered LA Tailor and decided to give them a call. Angel told me to bring the coat in, so I walked over there and he helped me right away. His shop is small and quiet, and I believe he is the only one working there, so he was in no rush and took his time fitting the coat to the sizing I needed. He was also very honest, telling me what wouldn’t work (and what would be much more expensive to do), and provided multiple options for the tailoring of the coat.
The jacket has Superdry embroidery on the front of one shoulder and the back of another, and I was hoping to have had the shoulders taken in; he told me he would’ve had to have cut into the areas with embroidery, that he also would’ve had to have adjusted the epaulets on the shoulders in a somewhat awkward manner, and that the better (and equally attractive) option was to insert subtle shoulder pads to add structure and help me fill up the coat, and he took in the coat from under the arms and from the sides to make it more fitted.
After a week of anticipation, I picked up the coat today and it’s wonderful. The work is seamless and beyond professional, and he made sure that it fit well and looked good. For $ 65 the work was well worth the price, and I’ll definitely be returning to him. Angel is worth every star in this 5 star rating!

I lost weight and they took in suits, dresses and pants– they all look custom made. The work was excellent, they finished in half the time promised and the cost was very reasonable.
