MAC Cosmetics – Macy’s

I’ve been wearing the same color foundation for many years. On this trip, I was convinced by the associate that I was wearing the wrong color and «re-​matched» me. The next day I applied the new color and was absolutely horrified. It was really a good thing that MAC has a good return policy.

I only come to this location when I have to restock on my foundation.
I hate this location and only come here because it is the closest Mac counter I can find.
The customer service sucks. EVERY TIME.
The ladies at the counter seem to have self esteem issues. They avoid looking at you or greeting you. Sometimes their make up looks horrendous. I honestly do not know how many of these girls are working for MAC. Management needs to make better decisions in regards to who they hire.

I go here often. Always a good experience. Especially compared to other Mac counters/​stores.

«Hi Blanca, I would like to book the 1^st appointment for this Sunday if it’s available?»
Blanca, «Sure, its available! Let me put you on hold while I grab the appointment book, okay?» My response, «Sure!» (Excited its available)
Its 8:26PM… Still On HOLD!!! :| — NOT HAPPY!!!

If I could give this place a zero, I would. Horrible customer service… I waited in line while the woman at the register took her time ringing each item and flirting with the security guard who kept walking by. I was in shock that someone could work in customer service and have absolutely no customer service skills. I wish I would have gotten her name to complain about her.

I recommend Annie, girl is dope. She listens and understands. I wish more MUA were like her. I was beyond pleased when she guided me with a specific look on my eyebrows several weeks ago.

I wouldn’t suggest coming here if you’re in a rush and just want one simple Item. They literally take forever to acknowledge you. I waited 40minutes just to get a lipstick. Mind you, I needed no help picking out the color I ALREADY KNEW which one I wanted it. But if you’re just browsing around and have all the time in the world then you won’t mind I guess. I would suggest for them to hire more workers!

New layout looks great. Too bad the customer service isn’t. Will not return. It’s funny how the mac manager at this store knew exactly who I was talking about when I complained. Lazy people that’s for sure. You get commission you should be wanting to help people. Both of these girls should be let go or put some where in the store where customer service isn’t a necessity.

Macys is under construction and Mac got a really nice counter… It looks like its own little store. Natalia helped me and was really sweet. She even showed me how to blend out my shadow even though that’s not what I came in for. Will defiantly come back to her!

Love Mac products, but they definitely need to be more careful when it comes to hiring people that represent their brand. This counter ALONE can ruin this franchise. I will NEVER go again. The employees are rude when you ask them for their assistance, they don’t greet you, and they totally IGNORE you. DO NOT come here.

If there was an option for negative stars, they’d get the most.
This counter holds the title for the dirtiest, most unsanitary, rude, cosmetics counter imaginable.
I have given this counter multiple chances and have been absolutely appalled by the results.
Attempt 1:
I recently moved to the area and needed to pick up a few products for personal use as well as hundreds of dollars in product for a recent shoot I was going to be doing. There were FOUR employees on the floor and not one acknowledged me for over 45 minutes! Seriously?! I was more than irritated and decided to drive all the way to the counter at Serramonte where the staff actually gives a damn.
Attempt 2:
I needed new foundation. I go to the counter and wait… And wait… And wait. One girl was in the middle of an application. The other girl was on the phone on a more than personal phone call. Ok, now I know what you’re wearing to the party this weekend, I know you’re having issues with your boyfriend and you don’t even acknowledge me or the other five customers waiting for your assistance. That’s what your break is for, honey. Handle your personal business when you’re off the clock. Even after I asked her for help, she ignored me.
I walked out. Pissed.
Attempt 3:
I still need foundation and haven’t had time to go to a different counter. My mother needed something from Clinique so I went with her to pick up some product. 20 minutes, no eye contact at all. I go shop around, come back… 20 more minutes, not even a «hello» or am «I’ll be with you in a minute.» Screw that, I went and bought a new dress instead.
While at the counter paying for my dress, the man asked how my shopping experience was. I told him I’ve had several bad experiences at a cosmetics counter. His response?! «Oh, it must have been MAC.»
If all this wan’t bad enough, every single time I go to the counter there is used tissue and applicators all over the place. I guess they only clean off their counters once a day.
Done. Screw this counter. I’d rather go out of my way to one where they’re actually friendly and attentive.

I typically don’t like shopping at counters because I feel like the girls there are a little less knowing then the artists at freestanding stores. However this MAC is close to my house and I was in a pinch. I was helped by a guy named Kenny. One word, FABULOUS. He was attentive and sweet. He answered some questions I had and for the first time ever in my life gave me a correct color match. He is the first artist that didn’t try to make my pale white skin a gaudy form of bronze. Not only that but went in for one thing and came out with 6 new cant live without products. I can’t wait to go back and have another shopping experience with him!

I am far from being makeup savy and thought it would be a good idea to check out MAC. I thought they might help me a little about application and such. –Never again will I go to this MAC counter. Worst customer service! It took the lady a good 10 minutes to even acknowledge me. I’m not sure why, when I was the only one there. I could tell she wasn’t having a good morning due to her slamming the drawers and what not. Anyway, when I was finally acknowledged, she wasn’t much help. She was very quick to semi answer any questions, as if I was a nuisance and she had more important things to do. Even after she was rude, I still bought $ 150 worth of items that were quickly thrown in the bag and handed to me with not even a simple «Thank You.»
The people working there need to learn some customer service!!!

I’ve done many reviews about MAC Cosmetic counters and freestanding stores around the Bay Area, and the most common misconception that people have about the employees working for MAC are they have an attitude or they are «witches» for a better word. Definitely not the case here. I wouldn’t say I’m stubborn but I’m hard to please especially when it comes to cosmetics since I do have knowledge about it. If I left without a complaint, they are doing something right. This counter along with the Southland Macy’s location are by far my top picks in my area, just because the level of customer service I have received has exceeded my expectations.
My friend Whitney works at Macys and she always raves about this counter so I thought about making a slightly longer trip down to see what it was all about when I had time.
I went there today after calling different counters around the Bay Area to inquire about presales for the upcoming Archie’s Girl Collection. They were the only counter out of 6 locations I’ve called that was doing presale so I headed there with my sister. (I will get all their names next time I’m there, and I will update this review) My sister and I approached the counter and we were immediately greeted and asked if there was anything in particular we were looking for. The sales associate was extremely helpful with bringing the display down and explaining to us which products were sold out and double checked their inventory of the items we wanted to presale. She even remembered me from almost a year ago when I was at the MAC Freestanding Store at Stoneridge with a friend, talk about good memory and customer service! I saw that this counter had Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick/​Lipglass released and the lipstick was a must have! A little bit off topic but the lavender color was gorgeous and it supported a good cause! So anyways, she rang me up for the Viva Glam first and went ahead with my presale. The other 2 sales associates were such a joy to talk to; one was named Annie and I didn’t get the other sales associate’s name, but everyone I met today were such sweethearts and made sure I left a satisfied customer.
I actually can’t wait to go back and pick up my presale next week. When sale associates treat me well, I can’t help it but buy tons and tons of stuff!

There seems to be a bit more of «self-​esteem» going on here instead of customer service.
I had a great experience upstairs buying clothes but when I came downstairs to purchase MAC products, I left in a hurry, irritated.
I wanted to buy a nail polish gift set for a friend, and picked out three colors. I was walking around holding the nail polishes in PLAIN VIEW while looking for the eyeshadow pigments at the same looking to get a lip gloss. I was looking to purchase a total of 3 nail polishes, 2 lipglosses, and 3 – 5 eyeshadow pigments, AND MAYBE an eyebrow liner if someone would’ve talked me into it.
Instead I stood there staring at the displays while all three MAC girls attended to other people. Two were already doing makeup, but a simple «hello» and look around for a co-​worker wouldn’t have made them break a sweat (but instead, avoided eye contact completely). There was another chick who was walking around, and instead of walking straight to me and ringing up a $ 150 sale, she walked to another chick who kept pointing to her eyebrows, walking around the counter, obviously avoiding eye contact with me. I stood there for 10 minutes just STARING. Another Macy’s associate walked passed me and acknowledged me and was looking at the MAC associates as well.
Eventually, i got tired of waiting and being ignored. Screw it. I put back the nailpolish and left. I’ll head over to the Southland or Stoneridge location later today. There’s probably a reason why both those locations received better reviews than this location.

Beyond pissed! Im a hair stylist/​mua I was trying to get make up for a client. Anyways the ladies took at least 5 min accnowledge me, ok… I asked if they had Ruby woo lipstick instant attitude «NO WE DONT CARRY THAT!» to make matters worse after she said that she picked up the mirror and started checking herself out in the mirror pouting her lips fixing her hair while I was still trying to find other shades that she was pointing at with a flick of her hand. She could have landed min $ 100 in commision that day but with the attitude I decided to only buy the lipstick I ended up being the wrong color.
Get it together MAC! Your making us mua’s look bad. I will never shop at this place again, i work hard for my money.

Customer service here was nonexistent.
I was thinking of buying some MAC brushes as I learn to do more makeup. Came to this counter since it’s the closest to home, just got a greeting and was promptly ignored. So I wasn’t looking at any of the makeup and was just browsing through the brushes, that doesn’t mean I don’t mean to make a purchase. But with no one to help me but plenty of associates mingling around the make up portion of the counter doing nothing but chatting with other people, I decided I’d rather take my business somewhere more helpful, it’s not like I’m dying without makeup, or brushes.

I usually never purchase anything from this MAC counter. IDK why, it just never really appealed to me. I am a HUGE fan of MAC make-​up but when I come here and see the counter, I just keep walking. I’ve only really made stops to this Macy’s to grab my moisturizer from Shisheido, the next counter over.
I would highly recommend going to an actual MAC store. The service is better and the artists are more knowledgeable with the products. I usually hit up Stoneridge or Sun Valley.

I felt the need to write a review about this counter in particular because all of the comments are so outdated. The counter is under new management and has turned things around 100%. Not only is the counter clean, but the so called «trolls» no longer appear to be working there.
I went there to buy my wife some makeup and really had no clue of what to get her, even though she uses nothing but MAC makeup. The girl that I was speaking to, sorry I forget her name, was incredibly helpful. Not only was she helping me find the right stuff, she was helping 2 other customers at the same time!
Awesome job!
Some advice: The counter did seem understaffed, so if you are going there, have some patience. I’m just a man but I don’t think I would like to cater to more than 1 woman at a time. That is just NUTS!

Was in the area shopping at Macys needed some things from MAC so might as well since I am here get it. There is no review really becuz when I went over there wasnt anyone there! WTH? So I asked another girl working at some other make up counter and she said the girl had gone on break and will be back in 15 minutes. ARE U SERIOUS? i thought when you go on break someones suppose to cover you right?
