Visiting from TEXAS so expected to be disappointed in SIZE of portions. Ordered waffle/egg combo with bacon. Could not come close to eating it all and I never leave bacon on my plate, but had to at this place. Quality of food was good. Service was professional. I would definitely come back next time I’m around.

Let me begin by saying that I’ve been here a couple of times and have been satisfied with my meal. Today was not the case! I’m never going to eat here again. EVER. We were seated in about 10 minutes, not bad. Then we proceeded to wait one hour and 50 minutes for food. They kept taking everyone else’s order and not ours(that was 30 minutes). The rest of the time was spent waiting for food. No one refilled our water or coffee or came to ask if we needed anything. My husband had to talk to someone because our food wasn’t coming. It was insane. Then our food came and it didn’t taste great, I mean it should have they spent 2 hours on it! My moms scrambled eggs weren’t scrambled at all so she couldn’t even eat them. Lastly the waitress came with some far fetched explanation about how a roll of paper was the cause of all of the delay. The family behind us left because their food never came. Don’t feed me lies! At this point I can safely say I’m going to stick to Denny’s or ihop.

Small town feel with great diner food. The grits are delicious and the servers are attentive

I felt like a Big Breakfast to start out the week. So I jumped into my Whip and rolled to Ploughman’s Restaurant. I parked in their large private lot and rolled in . Once inside I grabbed a Menu and a Booth my Server rolled up and asked for a drink order. I ordered a glass of Orange Juice and perused the Menu. When my Server returned I ordered 3 Eggs, Pancakes and Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy. While I waited I watched the Large LCDTV tuned to the local news . 10 Minutes Later my Server brought my order the Eggs were cooked to order, The Pancakes were Light and Fluffy and the Chicken Fried Steak was pretty Tasty with the Country Gravy . Ploughman’s is pretty Lowkey, Its pretty Quiet with a Mixed Crowd of Diners. My Server was pretty Efficient and Attentive . When I received my Bill I was Shocked !!! My Glass of OJ was $ 4.25 for the Glass Yikes !!! The Breakfast itself was $ 10. Very Reasonable. Watch out when you order Beverages their prices range on the High side.

The ploughmans omelette was very good… Like a classic ham and cheese with an Irish twist because it included bangers. THEGOOD: Food was yummy, waitress was courteous, they were patient in letting us take our time, the dining area is nice. THE«EHH»: lack of a host or wait list is confusing, gnats were flying around and it was very annoying, wait for the food was pretty long. We walked in and all tables were taken. We had to stop a waitress who seemed confused when we asked for a table. Overall a good place to eat when I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here.

Third time might not be the charm, but Ploughman’s is definitely not the worst venue to get breakfast in San Leandro. The first two times I dined here, I was positively whelmed. Just whelmed. The second time in particular was disappointing because the steak I ordered was actually impossible to cut. It was as if I ordered a gelatinous slab of tire. Today I decided to be as fair as could be and go to the basics: order something simple and try to integrate what makes the restaurant unique. In the case of Ploughman’s, this would be the bubble & squeak: a mashed potato cake with onions and spinach(served as an alternative to pancakes or hashbrowns). I got this as a side to my bacon and eggs(the staple of all breakfast orders). I’d say that the bubble & squeak, English muffin, and coffee saved the breakfast. The bacon was dry and flavorless. It was actually a task for me to stomach it. The steak was no doubt worse(please do not order the steak, for all that is good and sparkly in your life), but the bacon truly disappointed. The eggs were so-so. I’ve enjoyed eggs that have actually blown me away; these eggs are indistinguishable from any other place for half the expense. Suffice it to say, baseline breakfast did not do well. The English muffin was excellent(I’d be hard pressed to find an English muffin made poorly though), and the bubble & squeak was a relief. It’s not overwhelming or surprising, but it is a risky dish at any restaurant, and Ploughman’s makes it well. If you wish to eat here, definitely order the bubble & squeak. Finally, the coffee is smooth(I drink mine black), and non-acidic, which I can appreciate. However, if you’re looking for a cup of coffee, there’s a perfectly good Peet’s up the street you can go to. TL;DR: Come here for the bubble & squeak if that’s something you’d like to try. If you’re in a full, robust breakfast mood though, I would not prioritize this restaurant highly.

The food was probably 2.5−3. The service drags this review way down. We were there for breakfast and spent probably 20 minutes eating, 30 at the outside. It took us 90 minutes from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. The place is disorganized, the waitstaff is forgetful and unhelpful. I doubt we’ll be back.

The breakfast portions here are huge for a really good price. The waffles are nice and crispy like they should be. I had the strawberry waffle with a scramble and it was great.

Nothing to be crazy about this place, just your typical tradition breakfast place. The ambience is great, feels great to eat in unlike other places. San leandro police/CHP also eats here almost every morning, you will feel protected. lol! Plus its located at the heart of the town, so, pretty close to everthing around

Horrible service. We sat at the counter and was ignored the entire time. They never checked on us. Took 25 minutes to get our food. For sure not returning.

Yum, yum, yum!!! Great place to have breakfast! My parents & brother have been here a few times & slim so glad they brought me here! Waffles were made to perfection, fluffy & buttery & with just enough syrup! The apple chicken sausage was so good! You have to try it! Service was excellent as well! Great mom & pop style diner with that homey feel… My family & I loved it!

I drank too much last night. This seems like a wholly appropriate way to start a review of any restaurant such as this. After a night of visiting all of San Leandro’s fine microbreweries, I came to the kind of morning where you look at your aging face in the mirror with a sense of regret and say to yourself: «Unless we get some damned eggs, nothing is getting done today.» I moved to the bay area from gold country this summer. For those not in the know, good country kitchens are as common out there as pickup trucks and roadkill deer. You pretty much drive down any major street looking for any rundown building with old people standing out front debating whether or not they want to wait. Bam, you found pancakes. This was not a category I had researched for San Leandro yet, so I pretty much just stumbled down E 14th Street and wandered in here. Atmosphere lacks pretense. No fake ‘50s BS and no «welcome to the country!» wood workings, either. In fact, if you’ve been to Alameda County south of Oakland but north of Fremont, the whole area is trapped in 1987, and this place feels exactly like that with a newer TV. It’s located in what has the façade of being a very upscale strip mall in the middle of downtown San Leandro. They make efficient use of the space inside, so I didn’t have to wait long for a table. The downside is that I was tuned into the conversations of 4 other tables and one shouting baby. Service is exactly what you expect from an American diner on a Saturday morning; slow with brief interactions. The latter part I believe was a combination of a need to handle other patrons, but also the fact that I was half way slumped over the table with one eye open like an extra in a SyFy channel movie about a plague. The food was about the most neutral, average meal I’ve had in years. The pancakes were big and fluffy but I was struggling to finish them. The eggs were definitely superior to your typical chain diner and are the reason I’m not in bed with all the blinds closed groaning right now. The bacon was so overcooked that I essentially had a pair of daggers made of pig fat that crumbled upon stabbing other food items on my plate. I’ve now decided that the Pancake-Stab-Test should be a routine part of evaluating bacon quality. I stumbled out and began walking toward the sun, a new-found pressure in my stomach and a sense that fulfillment is a temporary notion that will soon be displaced, possibly sooner than expected if I wind up puking this stuff up. Ploughman’s is apparently an existential experience under the right conditions.

We have been to Ploughman’s a couple of times in the past month or two, and both times had a good solid brunch and and today was no exception. We got seated right away, and had our coffee poured almost immediately– always a positive for me to get my coffee right away. I ordered a lot of food. I got the veggie and cheese omelette, with hash browns AND a side of bacon. My wife enjoyed her french toast combo with sausage and eggs. The food is consistent and good. I managed to finish everything and fairly quickly so I must have been very hungry! The bacon was crunchy, and there was lots of it so no complaints. The omelette was fine, lots of veggies not too big and not too small just right. The service is very fast and efficient and friendly here. The bill for a nice brunch came to around $ 32 so a nice value. The ambiance is fine, never too crowded but always enough customers to be fairly busy but too crazy or loud. We will be back again when we need a weekend brunch in SL.

Great breakfast spot in downtown San Leandro. Always consistently good. Take out is my favorite but I have also sat in for breakfast. Pancakes are fluffy. Eggs over medium are just that. Ample portion of chicken apple sausage with hash browns crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The servers are always polite and the place clean. Prices are reasonable for a hearty breakfast and there are always leftovers for breakfast the next day. Convenient to BART and downtown. I come here at least once a month and have not been disappointed.

Great breakfast spot in SL, and definitely an upgrade on Denny’s. Their breakfast menu lets you pick from so many different kinds of things so you can make many combinations of items that will certainly fit what you’re craving. If you come on a weekday you can get their super cheap special breakfast. It’s not anything particularly special(the usual breakfast items) but it’s only $ 5.95. They have a lunch menu too(lots of typical diner stuff like burgers and sandwiches), but this place is definitely more geared toward providing great breakfast service.

As much as I’d love to give a higher rating, I can not. The food was good. We had breakfast and enjoyed the food. The unfortunate problem was the wait. We spent 30 minutes waiting for our meal and asked for bread to help with the wait. The waitress forgot and doc get bring anything. Unfortunately by the time we got the food we both felt sick. We did recover and enjoy the breakfast but it was too late to enjoy. It really unfortunate as we saw the same issue with other tables and it felt like everybody was aware of the problem. Also watching the cook go in slow motion and lazily chatting with the waitresses didn’t help. So unfortunately I don’t recommend this restaurant unless you are not hungry.

This restaurant has the worst service I have ever been to. We waited over 30 minutes for our food to come and then inquired with someone(not our waitress, because our waitress never even came back to our table to see if we wanted beverage refills) who told us it was coming shortly. After ten more minutes we decided to leave. I had bought a soda and asked if we could have the check and some other woman who worked there said she would get our server to bring the check for the soda — I stated I was worried that if I had to wait for my server to bring me the check I would have to sit there and wait for 30 more minutes. She finally said it was fine and we didn’t have to pay for the soda(which should have been automatic given the terrible service). It’s worth noting that several people from several tables were walking up to the counter asking where their food was as well. The people next to us were served food that was not the way they requested it and at another table the waitress brought them someone else’s order. An overall mess. We left and went to the Pelton Café and were greeted immediately. I will never return to Ploughman’s and I suggest the same for anyone else considering going there.

It’s my all time favorite breakfast place in the Bay Area. It’s local, homey, and that one place in the corner that never looks like it’s opened but you see all the local enforcement agencies eating there. It’s amazing. Ploughman’s a great diner for breakfast and brunch and lunch. They’re only opened until 2pm but they open super early. The best deal is the Ploughman’s breakfast special which includes 2 eggs(the way you like it), 2 bacon stripes or 2 sausages or ham, with hashbrown, toast or pancakes between 6:30am-11:00am(offered M-F) for only $ 5.95. It’s a sweeeeet deal for anybody looking to grab a hearty, full breakfast. Coffee is on point here at Ploughmans and the waitresses are on point with coming around to refill your mugs without asking. Cream and sugar choices are already on the table for your convenience. There’s a huge variety of different breakfast options, meals a la carte or even their different preset options that include eggs, protein, carbs and then some. Omelets are pretty famous here too, HUGE portions for a good price and comes with sides. Love it. My favorite to date is the ABC omelet(avocado, bacon, and cheese) stuffed thick with all of the ingredients. Add egg beaters for $ 1. Add a side of sour cream $ 1.(SOWORTHIT). The food takes a while to come out, but you shouldn’t be rushing in and out of this place. It’s a great location(quiet inside, great parking spaces, clean and modern) inside for you to enjoy your coffee, your time and your friends if you bring any. The service is slow, but the staff are great! Waffles and french toast are pretty on point there too(there’s even STUFFED french toast). WHODOESTHAT?! I love the local business and I’m always raving about Ploughman’s. I almost never finish my food and my to go box is enough leftover for a complete meal for somebody else, like I never even ate any of the food. It’s almost surreal. They take both card and cash, you can usually just sit yourself anywhere in the dining are. The menus are to your left if you remember to grab them on your own to a booth. There’s a lot of regulars and friendly people that come here and it’s a great addition in the San Leandro Downtown Area.

We like this place. Service among the inviting faces comes easy to employees when restaurant is not too busy. But when it gets busy it depends on again how the staff feels. Although today at 7:30am breakfast was delicious, I’ve been here on other occasions and the ladies were winded. I think if we tip better or the owners boost of their wages to cost of living status, these beautiful staff would come to work whistling«addicted to love», for they are passionate about giving good service. I Love them and the experiences to follow. Btw: the hash browns are delicious too!

I always come here for their breakfast special — Mon-Fri until 11am 2 eggs, meat(2 sausage, 2 bacon or ham), hash browns/potatoes or pancakes, and toast for $ 5.95 — how can you pass this up? Waitresses are friendly, always walking around making sure you have enough coffee. When you get the bill, go to the counter to pay– its quicker than waiting for the waitress to come back and pick up the check.
