I am so glad I found Wheel Works on Marina Blvd! I relocated to San Leandro from a few towns away a couple years ago, and didn’t want to drive 20 miles to my old mechanic (who I loved!) every time something went wrong with my car. So I got a referral to a local mechanic from a friend here who works in the industry, but not with the guy he recommended. Long story short, that mechanic sold me a bad car battery, then when I brought the car back because it wouldn’t hold a charge, replaced it with another bad battery (so I bought yet another battery from my old mechanic and suddenly my car stopped ending up with a dead battery). And, while the new mechanic was nice, he couldn’t diagnose an issue I had with my car (turned out to be the exhaust system), and completely missed that my master cylinder was leaking (that’s brakes, people!) and could fail if I pressed the brake pedal too hard. Yikes.
So, because they were only 3 miles away and I often drive by, I ended up going to Wheel Works on Marina Blvd. And guess what? They nailed every problem immediately, and fixed everything — the first time. Awesome. And the customer service provided by Ray and Jeremy (manager and asst. manager, I think?) was on par with my favorite, old mechanic. They were friendly, took time to explain exactly what I needed and why, and for one of the bigger jobs, Ray even dropped me by my house when all the customers had been taken care of so I didn’t have to wait all day in the shop. I know lots of garages do that if you don’t live too far away, but they don’t all do it, so it’s nice when you find one that will.
I will say they seem to be a popular location — probably because they get it right — so don’t think you’re going to walk in and walk out with a serviced car an hour later. I’d strongly recommend making an appointment in advance, and call ahead the same day as your appointment to make sure everything’s on track, because if they’re down a guy or two (it can happen anywhere), it might take them a little longer to get to your car, even with an appointment. But I’m willing to do that, because I want my car fixed right the *first* time, and for a reasonable price, and it doesn’t hurt that the customer service rocks. Way to go you guys, and thanks again!

I’ve been meaning to write this for the longest time but I didn’t have any time. I really don’t wanna give this place a low rating but there’s a good reason for it.
Let’s start with the positives, the only reason why this place gets an extra star is because of Jeremy. The guy has the epitome of what customer service should be. After 1 visit he even had my name remembered, was real kind, and for all the issues I ran into his apologies seemed sincere and weren’t his fault. I really think whatever he’s making so far, he deserves a raise.
Now onto why it deserves a 1 star rating. The first time I came here I came for an oil change, which I dealt with Jeremy and he was great, in & out, had my car in a breeze. So my alignment was messed up & I saw thought they did a great job I’d bring it back for that. I bring it first thing when they opened but they were too busy, and they told me to schedule an appointment on the upcoming Wednesday. No worries, I understand, I didn’t have an appointment to begin with. I scheduled the appoint for Wednesday, left work early to handle this. I come back and Jeremy told me that he’s sorry but they’re more busy than they thought and he doesn’t think he can get to it. He was real nice about it, wasn’t his fault, I think one of the employees were sick or something. I still had no issue, he told me to come back on Friday I think. Which at this point I’m still not angry, I completely understood. So now comes the bad experience.
I took another day off of work to handle this, unfortunately Jeremy wasn’t there that day. some big Filipino (perhaps Cambodian?) Mongoloid that had the same level of customer service skills like Stevie Wonder has the ability to see. I’m a pretty easy customer to deal with, I don’t require you to shake my dick when I walk in, or to even smile at me. I just want to get my stuff done with and not feel disrespected. When I come in I smile, I’m very polite, say what I need to do. Figured from the get go he wasn’t the type to go beyond and over in terms of customer service, but hey no worries. I’ll just tell you what needs to be done. I dropped this car off right when they opened. Literally at opening time… tell me why I didn’t hear back from them ALL day until the very end of the day I call and ask what’s going on with my car. Why does he have the audacity to tell me they probably won’t get to it and giggle like a school kid that just heard a «dirty word.» You know how you can tell someone is smiling on the other end of the phone. So then I get a call back probably 30 minutes later talking about they can’t get to it and that my rotors and brakes need to be changed and he can «Offer me a deal of $ 850 to change my rotors and brakes.» I’m not a mechanic but I do know enough about cars to not get ripped off. I changed my brakes myself just a couple months prior, I know there’s a lot of the pad still left on that AND I know that my rotors don’t need to be changed. So I just say forget it I’ll just come get my car. So as I’m waiting in line there’s these two linebacker Mexican girls standing in line asking about their cars and what to do about it. So as this Filipino guy (We’ll just call him Jerry for the rest of this review) is laughing and giggling with them about their car and seemed pretty helpful to them. So I’m next in line and what’s Jerry do? He just ignores me and isn’t even considerate enough to say «Hey be with you in just a second.» Instead I stand there for a minute or two, then he walks off. Then doesn’t come back til his coworker comes back to deal with me. My car was never worked on, I wasted two full days of sick time for no reason. Then when his coworker who wasn’t a bad guy, said «His alignment still isn’t fixed» and asks if I want to leave it to get fixed, I say no and ask «Is this the only wheel works I can bring it to to get fixed?» (Wait, I just remembered the story different, they DID fix my alignment with the first oil change but then it got messed up like a week later, that’s why I brought it back because I had the warranty.) So I asked do I have to take it back here or can I go to any Wheel Works now Jerry is all of a sudden excited and exclaims «No you can take it to any Wheel Works.» So as I go to get my car which they left with all the windows rolled down may I add (someone could just have ran up and took some stuff out my car.) I see Jerry and he has the audacity to give me a mean mug. All while I’m thinking, I should be the one giving YOU bad a look.
So just to triple check on my rotors, I look at them… look perfectly fine to me. Have one of my friends that are a mechanic take a look. Says my rotors perfectly fine. I took it to ANOTHER mechanic shop I knew, and they said rotors are perfectly fine as well. As well as my brakes. This guy not only disrespected the living hell out of me, he also tried to play me for a fool outta like $ 850+. Literally the worst experience ever. I’d rather get kicked in the nuts than go back here.

5 STARS!!! This place literally saved my ass. I was leaving to SLO on Monday morning and it was Sunday, which meant that there were barely any mechanic shops open. I was leaving in less than 8 hours and was in need to get the nail in my tire out. Because of the procrastinator that I am, I blew it off until the last minute so I was scrambling to find a place that was open and luckily I found wheel works on Unilocal!I showed up 15 minutes before they were expected to close and they seemed pretty busy but I drove up and asked if they patched tires and if possible, could they squeeze me in. I didn’t catch his name but the guy working was so nice! He instantly told another employee to back out one of the cars from the garage and move mine in and started working immediately! I was observing his work and he really went the extra mile to make sure the tire was patched and perfect! I’ve had my wheels patched at other places but this was by far the best because they took so many extra steps with their work that I’ve never seen other shops do. When everything was done, the employee backed my car out and told me the service was free of charge! I was like NO WAY. I insisted on paying but the man said it was fine so I felt the least I could do was give them a great review! It was pretty awesome and I for sure will be back!

After searching online and calling some repair shops, I eventually decided to come to this store to replace my car’s tires. As a matter of facts, I got not only the good QUALITY TIRES but also the BEST PRICE in the area. I saved about $ 50 — $ 100 compared to others, including the repair shop I used to come to have the same service before. Well, the other good part I like is that the tires are still perfectly shining after two days !
Comparing to the quote I printed online and the actual cost I paid, it is around $ 7 difference. Can’t believe it! So, guys… who want to change your tires with the service from a known corporate in the tire industry, and… of course, BEST PRICE, just do the same as me: Get the quote online, print it and bring it to your appointment. I guess you’d say «thank you» then to what you read here and your decision !

My last visit at wheel works was a little bit pricey. The mechanic named Adam Pham really explained to me what the parts if the car did. Even though it was a little pricey I was still satisfied.

Ray the Service Manager is the best. The service managers at this place always seem to make a bad situation into a good one.

I was referred to this wheel work shop by a friend and I had an awesome experience. Great and friendly people. Adam worked on my car that I had new tires installed. He went above and beyond inspecting the suspension and found that one of my control arms was cracked and needed to be replaced. They preordered it for me that day and had it installed next day! Now that’s awesome service!!! He even took his time and showed me the old control arms and explained what I thought was my abs brakes kicking in. Little did I know it was actually my control arm that was causing the small shaking. Now that’s 6 star service. If you need your car done I would suggest this place! If you get Adam you know ur car will be in good hands! Thanks wheel work San Leandro!

I had my four tires for my van replaced here. I also had oil change at the same time. The staff here are way more efficient and pleasant than Costco. The prices here are actually very good. The job was done on time. So far the tires are working very well. This is a much better place for replacing tires than Costco. I highly recommend that you consider this place when replacing your tires!

I don’t do Unilocal reviews, but I just have to give it to the guys and gals on Marina. They are always very friendly and professional. Adam is the mechanic that worked on my car today, and he seems very knowledgeable. Though, I just drove my car home today, I’m confident that he did a good job. And if not, I’m confident they will go out of their way to rectify any wrong doings. They, in the past, have even rented me a rental car (for free) so that I could get to work, since repairs were taking much longer than expected. Now that’s taking care of the customer!

I had the misfortune of getting a flat tire on my way to a class and luckily was close to this shop, I showed up right at 7 when they open and they were great! Helped me out and found a matching tire for me, had me back on the road in no time and I was still able to make my class!

I went in yesterday morning before work because I had a screw in my tire. I want to thank Adam for his hard work and getting me out of there quickly. He’s great at what he does and I will be back for any future problems I have. Thanks agaiin Adam!

They were able to get me the tires for my car at half the price of the dealer and do it the same day.

This place is awesome. Adam Pham caught a problem with my car and I appreciate his great service. There’s a sbux across the street if u need to do some waiting.

Came in needed a 4wheel alignment with a noise coming from the front wheel. Adam Pham the mechanic work on the truck. He got the alignment done and also fixed the noise from the front wheel. He also shine the tires. Thats great service at wheelworks.

The service advisors were extremely courteous and went the extra mile to help me. Adam pham even gave my vehicle’s tires and shining as a finishing touch and it’s cool because I’m going to wash my car and it’s a nice day. It’s the little things that get my business. I’ll definitely be coming back here..

These guys said they had 3 different manufacturer tires in stock and as soon as I go there they tell me they don’t have the tires in stock. What a joke. Quoted me a certain price and sent me to another location in which they charged me more then the original price??? Is it because I had my wife go there? I’ll be calling the bbb or corporate office if there not willing to honor the original price.

Came here before with my g35 coupe. They did 100k on it. Left and my oil pressure spiked up. Guess there was air in it. Went back and they fixed it. But sucks it wasn’t done correctly first time. Went today to see if check my brake pads. Said it would take 3 hours just to check it. Not fix it. Just to check it. Waste of time.

It was time to put new tires on my daily Whip White Rabbit. I usually go to Big O tires on Washington, but Roberto was able to beat their pricing and that included a Front End Alignment. Go figure that .
I put my money where my mouth is you get me best price and your my Huckleberry.
So I jumped into my Whip White Rabbit and rolled to Wheel Works
Robert took my vital statistics off of White Rabbit and then rolled her into the shop.
About a Hour and a Half. My Whip White Rabbit was set up with new tires and was riding straight as an arrow.
I paid with my Discover Card and Rolled Out. Plus their open 7 days a week and free flat repair.
