Caltec computers is the best computer repair shop I have been to. They were easy to talk to and quickly resolved my problems both times I visited them.
I even spent 15 minutes speaking with one of the guys at Caltec with regards to the problems my computer had and how to avoid them in the future.
I will definitely be visiting them if my computer exists any problems in the future.

Unjammed my printer for free. Wasn’t a simple jam, printer had to be taken apart and put back together. Quick and pleasant service.

Mike helped with a seemingly simple project which escalated into a bigger deal, due to another company’s policy. He was very professional and handled all the obstacles with patience and good solutions. Your excellent service is very much appreciated and you have gained a long time customer! Well done!

I’ve been a customer of Caltec for sometime now. I took my old laptop in to get work done. Other repair shops tried to convince me I should just buy a new computer (from them of course) because mine is too old and outdated. Well Caltec fixed it, and it’s been running strong for almost 5 more years now. Always impressed with their service. They were recommended to me by family, and since then I used them, my girlfriend uses them, and several friends. Best place in Slo.

I called Caltec Computers on behalf of my elderly mother-​in-​law who was having trouble with her printer. I worked with Mike, who tried everything under the sun to fix the problem remotely. After about 30 minutes of troubleshooting, it turned out that in order to fix her printer, it would cost more than what it was worth. Mike made a recommendation on purchasing a better quality printer. I then asked him what I owed for his service and he said there was no charge for today because he was not able to fix the problem. Wow! I love these guys. They helped me one other time with my mother-​in-​law when I spilled a glass of wine on her lap top keyboard… Yikes! That also turned out to not be a fixable problem, but they were able to transfer all of her files on to a flash drive. These guys are professional, honest, knowledgeable, experienced, and extremely courteous. If I could give them more stars, I would.

They quickly diagnosed my problem, were willing to proceed according to my wishes (even though doing so was not in Caltec’s immediate financial interest), and went beyond the promised services with neither complaint nor extra charge.
Prompt, knowledgeable, fairly priced, courteous, and eager to please — what more could you ask for?

I have used Caltec for nearly ten years and they are always super professional, courteous, intelligent, kind and full of insights.
They have recovered data for me several times, helped me transition between computers while I was on a budget, installed a solid state hard drive that added an easy two years of life to my older laptop, and solved many more problems both remotely and in person.
I recently recommended them to my older aunt who lives in Pasadena and who had spent hundreds of dollars in frustrating non-​results with experts in her area — Brent was able to fix her clogged start menu, annoying ad proliferation, etc etc in a few days and for $ 40 — needless to say, she swears she will never go anywhere else.
Neither will I — they are great and you can use them from anywhere.

The power button on my Toshiba Protégé laptop conked out on a Sunday. I called before 9AM on Monday. A young man by the name of Wesley picked up the phone right away and answered my distress call courteously.
I brought the laptop in later in the morning. The receptionist was busy on the phone with another customer, but Wesley stepped out to greet me and looked at the laptop immediately. He quickly saw that the button can still be pushed to start the computer, at a particular spot. He said the errant button can be fixed but it would be costly, and recommended that I put up with the poorly designed button.
I appreciate Wesley’s honesty and willingness to answer my questions.
The shop is well positioned, with adequate parking. And the interior, while cavernous, seems neat and well lit.
It’s good to have such a computer repair shop available in our area.

Although CalTec has been more a computer mortuary for me than a repair shop, the service has been first-​rate. In one case, they were able to recover data quickly and at a reasonable price. The more recent case didn’t allow for any data recovery, but they also did not charge me anything for the evaluation time.

These guys are great. Very knowledgeable and helpful in getting my computer back to good operating condition.

The guys from Caltec were great! We recently relocated to the Central Coast area and had no idea where to take my computer for repair. After reading great reviews on Unilocal,I decided to take my broken laptop to Caltec. Within minutes, a Caltec rep diagnosed that my hard drive was kaput. There were a few bumps in the road (not due to Caltec), but Caltec stood with me every step of the way to help retrieve and save all my years of data and photos. Communication was great, they went over and beyond, and were very knowledgeable and professional. I would totally recommend them.

Totally fixed my poor router performance with their router & remote antenna thingy. Installation could not have been easier. Great bunch of guys — totally recommend!

The good the part was that I was not charged any money out of pocket — but I did lose over a week of time, had to make several calls to get basic updates, and ended up doing a lot of damage control to salvage an important client relationship. I had a liquid spill on my laptop keyboard. I was told the repair would be a keyboard replacement and would take 3 days at the most to complete — an update I passed to my client. 3 days came and went with no calls from CalTec. The part delivery ended up taking at least a week. When it did arrive, the keyboard replacement turned out to be a misdiagnosis and a big waste of time. After looking more carefully, I’m disconcerted about all the filtered 5-​star reviews here, I probably should have checked more carefully and I won’t be returning.

So refreshing to have computer help from very knowledgeable people and have help locally in our own town. I had a problem with a virus on one of my computers and was able to go one line and they even helped me remotely. So I would never go anywhere else for help with computers!

Caltec computers is GREAT! I would encourage anyone to use their expertise. Both Dan and Brent are very knowledgeable, and involving them in your IT will be the best investment you ever made.

I lost internet connection on my Lenovo laptop suddenly. Tried all standard solutions I knew of but needed immediate attention since we were traveling. I expected to have to wait or leave the computer however, the technician looked at it immediately, and discovered my problem in seconds! A barely visible switch on the edge of the computer had somehow been turned off. Due to their expertise, I was in and out in minutes. He waived their standard fee, since it was so quick and simple. I REALLY appreciate their HONESTY and technical expertise. I would highly recommend them for any computer needs. Thank you guys!

I had a great experience with Caltec Computers. I had an issue with my external hard drive, and they were able to give me a new casing and (new and better) USB cable. Their service was quick and reliable, and their pricing was very fair.

Super cool guys. They’re NOT about raping you. They try to give you the tools to fix it yourself and they’re honest. If you can’t fix it yourself then they’ll charge you to fix it. I highly recommend you speak to them first.
