Needed a tire fixed while I was in SLO so I stopped in. They were fast and friendly and their prices were very reasonable.
I was able to finish my bike ride. Will definitely consider returning when I’m in the market for another bike or other bike needs.

The staff at Foothill never cease to amaze me — they are passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and energetic. The sales guys make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door and the mechanics are efficient, effective, and always hard at work. It’s refreshing to see employees that care so much about their customers’ experience both in the store and wherever they may go by bike. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for my bike needs!

I was really disappointed with the service I received from foothill recently. I’ve taken my bike here before and there were no issues except that it was a bit pricy for my student budget.
Nonetheless, I came back with my Schwinn road bike to get the front wheel replaced, new tires and tubes, and a new derailer to tune it up for the school year. I made it super clear that I needed the bike asap because it’s my only way to class and to work. They told me it’d be done by Saturday but by Tuesday I still hadn’t gotten a call.
When I called to ask how it was going they had no idea who I was or which bike was mine. Turns out they lost my slip and did no work on my bike, it was just sitting there. I was really upset and have decided to take it somewhere else because $ 160 to work on a bike isn’t worth it after waiting for nothing.
I did appreciate that they pumped my tires and offered to do the derailer same day, but after all that I would’ve expected a discount or something more than «sorry, this happens when we get a lot of bikes in»

The guys at Foothill are top notch! I own a bike that is not main stream, it is a Cannonade Lefty. They are good at working with me to tweak it to my specs. Tyler does the little details to trick my bike out! Thanks guys!!!

The guys at Foothill Cyclery repaired the brakes, back wheel and pedals of my bike. They were fast and did it at a very fair price. My bike rides significantly better than it did previously. I’ll definitely be coming back here!

Josh, Tyler, Frank, and the entire crew at Foothill Cyclery recently helped with a major project of ours involving 19 bikes. Each bike was assembled or built by Foothill, including a few from scratch. We’ve worked with other shops in the past on similar projects, and every year we’ve had a few issues with the builds. That changed this year — everything was dialed on every bike. That’s 19 great builds with perfectly functional components throughout. It’s clear that Foothill takes pride in their work and gets even the little details right the first time. Highly recommended.

Sam and David are awesome, very helpful, patient, made sure we found what we wanted rather than just make the sale and move on to more serious bikers. We found a pair of hybrid Trek bikes for a great price, they helped us find stems that fit and made the bikes fit like a glove.

Really helpful employees. I went in looking for maintenance suggestions and they were more than generous with their time helping me. Lots of great bike gear and accessories, I will definitely be back for future bike needs. So far, the chain lube they recommended has been a great pick, I’m very happy.

Great customer service. We brought in a Ferrari bike for repair and Josh fixed it. He is so inventive and super nice. The shop is also very nice and he has lots of nice products. We really appreciated his help and friendly attitude and will come back again for all our cycling needs.

Needed to ship a bike for my son at SLO. They knew we were in a hurry to catch a plane so quickly got it packed. Then when we ran into shipping glitches, they were patient through the process and went above and beyond in helping me through a sticky problem with shipping. Although my husband eventually solved a problem, they were so kind to do whatever I needed to get it resolved. Thank you!

I love the guys here. They are always courteous, respectful, and most importantly helpful! Unlike the a-​holes over at Cambria who mocked me for asking help to put together my first bike, a single speed. I know very little about bikes as I just use mine for commuting and the guys at Foothill noticed that and made sure I understood what kind of things I was dealing with. I’ll be going back here for sure.

OVERRATED
Most of their success relies on their central location relative to campus and corresponding housing, preying on the bike-​ignorant community to give in to their premium prices with inferior values. The store is relatively small with little selection. I bought my bike here as an uninformed freshman, settling for the silver (not the color I wanted) overpriced commuter I still ride today.
Knowing nothing about bikes and my quick reliance to it for commuting, my bike needed A LOT of maintenance, which they were all too willing to accommodate — at a price that is (after the ever so gracious free tune-​up that was paid for in several excessive service fees in subsequent visits) a high one for that matter that can easily be avoided at other bike shops (often offering free installation with purchase) a little further away. I don’t deny they are friendly (a little fake) but it all comes at a price.
Nevertheless, I still remained loyal to their store, as it was all I knew at the time, trusting in them for the last time after being involved in an automobile accident. I was still shooken up after the collision, stressed about how I was supposed to get to work. Without comfort, they gave me a repair quote close to $ 300, that I obviously didn’t have, which was also more than my bike was worth. The quote didn’t fail to include replacements I did not need (Yes, I still boast my unnoticeably damaged handlebars), so I was able to reason down the cost a little, but still not anything I could afford that day. I even pathetically cried at no avail, so I waited until payday later that week, continuing to ride my joke of a bike for the days waiting, even though they had recommended I pay and put my bike in for service right away since riding my bike would provide a danger to myself and others. (NOTHING HAPPENED BTW) But thanks for the last repair! I’m still rocking the mismatched bike.

Service SUCKS at this place.

Been here twice. First time, I was in need of some fenders and second time I wanted to purchase a mountain bike. Accessories are outrageously priced, but that’s not what gave them this star rating. No, one far more despicable in my book; being shunned after getting sized up. I used to work at a bicycle shop and every shop I walk into is starkly different. It’s not about the customer here. I came in at noon, in need of a mountain bike. I walk in, not even greeted by the redheaded/​ginger girl at the front desk who should have been taught to at least welcome a customer first thing even if you can’t help them right away. After standing at the entrance looking for someone to help me and kind of just awkwardly standing by the desk, she finally said «I’ll help you as soon as I’m done with this gentleman, sir.» Okay, I’m not cut about that. So I wait.
A guy comes by who works at the store, decked out in his skin suit and his boys are bulging about as he helps a customer who just came in (after me) and went to the $ 2k bikes. Meanwhile the girl at the front desk who said she would help me decides to tend to this lady who just came out of nowhere. I understand college kids might be a dime a dozen, but I needed a mountain bike that day. My budget was $ 700 and I was ready to pay in cash because I needed a bike asap. Pissed off, I just left and got a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like the crew is elitist and stuck up. But it doesn’t surprise me, because there’s one shop full of people like that in every town. I just wish it wasn’t the closest one to campus. Do yourself a favor, check out that bike shop that’s near the corner of California and Monterey. 2^nd closest to campus and the crew. Though well seasoned roadies, they are modest and there to help.
Funny thing is, that guy that was checking out the $ 2k bike, left without so much as a handshake. The lady bought a spare tube. Meanwhile, the college kid who was about to lay down $ 700 cash on a quality bike, leaves and spreads his experience to many out there. Amazing how some employees can turn away a potential lifelong customer by just a simple lack of respect.

Foothill Cyclery has about everything you’ll ever need in a bike shop. Run by enthusiastic employees and owner, they accept nothing but the best. The mechanics are some of the best in the area, and while prices aren’t rock bottom — you get what you pay for — value and things fixed the right way.
Foothill is also a big fan of giving back to the community — you’ll find them at most of the local bike events providing support, and they have rides every week for people to meet and get to know one another.

Just got my bike back from a different shop for $ 50 less than I was quoted at Foothill Cyclery.
I was weary on giving them my business after I was grilled super hard for not being a bike enthusiast «road weenie». I would have been content never going back there based on their elitist scum attitude, but now after seeing the price difference at the other shop, it has been affirmed. Foothill is a rip-​off and is staffed by a bunch of jackasses. I rest my case.

I have worked in several bikes shops and in the industry as a clothing manufacturer (Showerspass). Through sales work, I have been in literally hundreds of bike shops. I can strongly recommend Foothill for their professionalism, attention to detail (you want crisp shifting, no?) and their no-​BS approach. They won’t try to sell you something because they have to get rid of old inventory or they are trying to meet some manufacturers quota.
These guys are the real deal, and they do tons of good work for the community, including strong support for the local bike coalition and bike clubs.

I visited Foothill Cyclery on a recommendation from a friend and could not be happier. I have been to several different bike shops over the years and have never received service like the service at Foothill.
Everyone in the shop was friendly and helpful. Josh helped me to custom fit my new bike and I have never ridden better. Raquel gave me great advice on spandex. Frank took extra time to adjust my bike and show me how the different parts work together.
The team at Foothill spent hours making sure that I had just what I needed to ride comfortably with confidence. While I was there I saw every member of the staff treat everyone who walked into the store with respect and courtesy. I have purchased other bikes before at other shops and I will never go anywhere other than Foothill for all of my future needs.
6÷23÷11 Update: I recently attended my first cycling clinic and both USAC coaches told me that my bike was fit perfectly for me. They wanted to know who did the great work and I was happy to tell them that Josh and the team at Foothill are the best!

I love this place…
Staff are friendly and helpful. They even continued to give me free tune-​ups after purchasing a bike from here years ago. The only down side I’d say is that things are a little pricey… but support your local business, right? Since then I’ve bought a similar bike at Costco, but when I add all the tuneups and adjustments I’ve had to pay for our of pocket since, my purchase from Foothill Cyclery was a far better deal in the long run.
If I purchase a bike again in SLO, I know who I’ll return to.
