Range Master

Went to practice in the shooting range today… I think there’s about 8 or 9 lanes?
Staff was friendly, good indoor range. Prices aren’t too bad. Good overall.

First things first, DO NOT bring your piece without it in a carrier or bag! This is one of their rules for entering the building and its a great rule.
My husband bought us a 9 mm for protection and took my step daughter and I here to learn how to use it properly. Learned how to load it, empty it and fire it. They guys running the place didn’t interact too much with us since my hubby was showing us the ropes, but they were really professional and seemed to know their stuff.
We had a great time. It was $ 17 per person per hour and we got that price because we bought two boxes of ammo to use.
It cost us $ 117 for the whole outing and that included a $ 20 case for our gun. We tried to warn my hubby that he needed to have it in a case and it was nice having one of the guys back us up on this.
All in all, it was a great trip and I feel pretty comfortable around our gun now.

Always a good spot to go and shoot in a clean, modern facility. The selection of firearms is solid and the staff is helpful and eager with tips on what might work best for me. The boys greet me by name and are always smiling and helpful. Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you’re in the area. Bring your wallet because good business ain’t cheap and cheap business ain’t good.
Seriously though, if you’re in the mood to poke holes in paper, go see Kenny and the boys. You’ll be glad you did.

Yeah I know a lot of people knock them for their prices, which can be a tad on the high side. But you know what, NOBODY has the selection they do. I’ve been up and down this county to many shops. Nowhere comes close. The staff is great and very helpful. Very personable. I’ve never felt rushed. There can be a wait if you show up at the wrong time, but that’s how it is at any shop in California worth a damn. Their range is perfect for my needs and is always clean and in good shape. .22LR shortage? Not at rangemaster. They have thousands upon thousands upon thousands of rounds every time I’ve gone in. The good stuff too. CCI Mini Mags. A bit marked up, but hey, it’s there. Quit being so cheap. Their ammo selection is top tier. I have nothing bad to say about the place. I have been going there since I moved here a few years back, and will continue to give them my business.

I came in with 2 family members to get some time in the range. We were treated extremely well. The staff were professional, knowledgeable and thorough. The handguns we rented were a blast. I forgot to say the staff were super friendly, in a good way; not pushy at all. We had an outstanding experience there in all regards.

My first time at a range, my friend came with for support. We got there 30 minutes before closing, shot one box of 50 rounds, used one lane and was still charged full price of $ 39. A break would have been appropriate considering we were in the lane for 20 minutes, and they didn’t tell us how much ahead of time.

I am torn. I’ve been here several times. Once or twice, to view handguns and to use the range. There are a few gems in the rough, the older guy, (Jeff I believe his name was) who was my instructor for handgun handling was a fantastic guy, but the majority of the employees are condescending and judgemental. Unfortunately they’re one of the only indoor ranges in the area, or I’d probably never go there. I much prefer Four Seasons outfitters, which is right down the street.

Not too bad of a place. They don’t give you any information when you use their range. Also tried to rent a 3^rd gun after dropping plenty of money there and they told me I could because they are closing? There was still 15 mins left. I was pretty displeased about this. I won’t be back.

Why is there nothing less than one star?
I am a woman who walked into this store with another wonan, apparently we vibed gay because we were met with hostile looks. We asked where the uniforms were located & told «in the uniform section»…really? Who would look there? When we got to the uniform section which was staffed by the least interested customer service representative ever. We disrupted her from eating her box of Dots & asked for a specific long sleeve polo shirt. She came back with short sleeve, non polo style. I asked if shed had long sleeve, she shot me the exasperated look & said «you didn’t ask for long sleeve». Back to your Dots & out we went NEVER TO RETURN. Rude, judgemental people.

I picked up my new SIG P238 today and went into the indoor range to try it out. I have been to many indoor ranges over my 35 years of gun ownership and this is one of the best. Friendly service and they handled all the paperwork in a professional manner. I will be going back regularly.

Came to Range Master after a horrible experience at another range down south… Cough cough. My girlfriend and I are new to firearms and we studied the NRA website and came prepared to take the DOJ and do some shooting at the range. Everyone was super knowledgable and friendly! The guy Matt that helped us out was awesome and he even invited us to a restaurant where he guest cooks some GFC chicken on Friday nights in Five Cities. Excellent staff and environment! Highly recommended.

rangemasters customer service is hit or miss they have some awesome guys who work there and they have some guys who are not so great I have a lot of tattoos and a lot of gun shops stereotype I haven’t really got that vibe from rangemasters but like I was saying some of the guys that work there just have a bad attitude and don’t seem like they want to help you. (Now to the good stuff) As for pricing I find it reasonable everyone always complains because «they can find it cheaper online» well there’s no one to help you face to face online and you can’t touch or shoot product online they have a business to run employees and rent to pay. I LOVE THEIR RANGE! The cleanest most modern indoor range in the county. I like that most guns they have for sale they have for rent and if you end up buying a gun at the end of test firing all they charge you for is the ammo you shot. Widest variety of firearms. And I love that I can tell my wife I’m just going to get a pair of pants for work and go drool on some guns. I’ve bought many many guns here and will continue doing business here.

not only did this store be fully stocked, everyone that works here are extremely friendly. I will be going back very soon.

Very well managed shop; lots of gear, guns and ammo. Excellent indoor shooting facility. Very courteous and knowledgeable staff.

Recently I walked into Range Master with my pregnant wife to buy ammo. The man behind the counter was a rude jerk. After listening to him make a few asinine sarcastic comments I said thank you and escorted my wife back to the car. Too bad for you Range Master, I have spent a lot of money this year on firearms and ammo and not one penny went into your pockets.

Horrible service and attitude. Looking for a for a wide back support for my duty belt. When I didn’t like the most expensive one and asked if they had any others the woman looked at me and said «well I guess I don’t know what I’m talking about» and walked away. That was only after having to find somebody to help me. The majority of the officers I’ve spoken with will not use this location. I will never set foot in this place again.

First time renting rifles at a range and we were kinda sketched out by all the reviews that said they were rude. To our surprise the guys there were really nice teaching us how to operate an AR-​15. We had a couple of problems because we are noobs at shooting but the guys were understanding and patient with us which was great. It was kind of expensive to rent totally worth the fun.

My husband and I recently went into Range Masters in San Luis Obispo because we were interested in purchasing two new 9 mm hand guns. While we have shot a great deal with our shotguns, we had very little experience shooting with hand guns.
We were hoping to try out a few different hand guns in the indoor range and looking for some help in steering us into a good starter gun. I was honestly a little cautious as I had read some of the past reviews and it seemed that the customer service was a little lack luster. However, as there aren’t any other indoor ranges we were short for choice and thought we would give it a go.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles and frankly a level of service that surpass most other customer service places we have visited in all of San Luis Obispo. The guys were extremely helpful and patient. They explained all the different guns without being condecending or rude. We never felt rushed or belittled in the slightest. We ended up trying out seven different hand guns in the indoor range and also found the range guy to be super helpful.
Our experience was fantastic and nothing like what a few of the past Unilocalers had commented. Either they were difficult customers or they have hired some really great new employees recently. Either which way, I would honestly recommend this place to anyone who is in the market for a gun or just wants a great place to go shoot.

Unfriendly and unhelpful! Luckily, there are a lot of options for gun shops in this area. 4 Seasons, Dicks, Big 5 are all much better options. As for ranges, SLOSA range, located near Cuesta college, is so much better. There are friendly and it is much less expensive to shoot there.
Avoid this place at all costs!

Wasn’t impressed. I had only shot once before, not counting BB and pellet guns, and could have used more direction. This place is EXPENSIVE. $ 28 per person for the two of us, sharing a rented gun.
The people weren’t very helpful and our wait was extremely long. It took 30+ minutes to get in the range.
The people were not very knowledgable, and offered us hand guns even though we are both 18. We said we could only shoot long guns, and they only had 2 that we could shoot. I don’t believe there are any restrictions on 18 year olds except not being able to shoot hand guns, and yet they wouldn’t let us shoot most of the long guns. Ridiculous.
