Scout Coffee Company

I’ve been going to Scout since they opened, and their coffee is as good as it gets in SLO. I highly recommend ordering a pourover of their Ethiopia Haranga.

Stopped here yesterday morning after we had to stop for the night in SLO due to rain (driving from LA to San Jose). So glad we stumbled upon it! Everything was delicious. My husband and I each had a gibraltar, then shared a coffee. My son wanted a «coffee» so we ordered him a hot chocolate. We all shared a chocolate croissant. I love love love the décor! Light and modern but still inviting and vintage. Made me want to move to slo! All the baristas were friendly and welcoming which you don’t always find at coffee shops. I’ll definitely be stopping there next time I’m in the area!

Wow!!! Great spot, airy, open, laid back, relaxed, friendly people. The most perfect latte and delicious cookie ever! This place gets 5 stars from me. I recommend this coffee place to all who have a love for coffee. Would have ended up at Starbucks if it wasn’t for Unilocal!Thank you Unilocal and Scout Coffee, I’ll be back!

I heard all the hype about this place so my husband and I wanted to try it. So we were in SLO and stopped by. The place is rather beautiful! Nice clean and attractive décor. However, the décor wasn’t good enough to cover for the coffee. I had a iced vanilla latte and my husband a plain cup of black coffee.
Order came out fast but there were a few problems. My latte was fine! A little bla, but not bad. I was served with no straw which was not pleasant with ICED coffee. But overall for my drink, a 3star.
My husbands coffee though is a different story. It was HORRIBLE. It was just bad coffee, bad beans or something. It was disgustingly sweet yet it was also bitter. My husband loves any kind of coffee and never complains but he couldn’t finish this cup. We left it half full.
Still don’t know why there is so much hype over so so coffee. Nice atmosphere, but worse than diner coffee.

This place has the best vibe ever! The architecture and décor are perfect and the open air concept made me feel like I was in a little corner of heaven. I wish I could put a little bed for myself inside of the atrium and move in. If you’re looking for a legit coffee experience without the elite-​ist snob factor, Scout is the place for you. I had a classic cappuccino and it was the perfect blend of creamy nutty-​ness. Five stars all the way. I’m definitely going to be returning here!

Great iced coffee. Fun contemporary atmosphere. A tad pricey.

After lunch, I was in desperate need of an afternoon caffeine fix. Upon walking into this cute litte café, I got an immediate feeling of home and was immediately at ease.
I’m going to make a few references to those that live in the bay area and are coffee afficiado’s, such as I.
Cups like Bellano coffee.
Appearance like Blue Bottle Coffee (Oakland location).
Very cute. Very friendly employees. Superb service. Hipster ambiance. I like it.

Really really great coffee and house made almond milk to boot! But $ 5.50 is seriously steep (Only reason this isn’t 5 *) for coffee that isn’t perfect in all ways.
Service is really friendly and quick.
Décor is modern, clean, yet comfy and one could totally hang out and chill.
Would say more but Mo and me just passed through on our was to SB.

My favorite café in SLO. Atmosphere is hip, but still friendly. Staff is inviting, always giving a warm greeting on your way in. Their commitment to good coffee is unique. The pastries are the best in town too. I love this place.

This place is amazing. From the outstanding coffee and the pastries to all of the worker bees inside! Everyone was super nice and very friendly. Scout has such a cute and very cool space. It has multiple places to sit and enjoy your coffee.
We were in town visiting friends and need of some good coffee. I found them on Instagram and thought let’s give it a try. I was so happy we came in not one day but two days in a row.
Day one we ordered a almond latte, pour over coffee and a morning bun for the little one to nosh on while me and the hubs enjoyed our coffee. The drinks were amazing.
Day two again the almond latte and a drip and we were decideding on what we should try as the pan of freshly baked goodies came out. So we got a raspberry dark chocolate scone still warm a crème fraîche scone and a morning bun. We sat towards the back of the shop and every few minutes more warmed baked goods were coming out so we had to ask if it was somethings that we should try. It was more morning buns but the girl bringing out the goods said that they are know for their almond berry croissant. She did say it would be a few and we were totally fine to wait. We got one and it was still warm and oh so berry good Totally worth the wait! It’s a must try if you ever go in. On our way out the same girl who told us about the croissant gave us a cookie for our ride home. Thank you so much it was a great pick me up for the long ride home! It to was also amazing. Great customer service! I can’t wait to go back up and relax in their and drink their coffee and enjoy their pastries.

Leave it to my lovely wife to find this place on Instagram and have me fall in love on with it. We went two days in a row early in the morning and stayed longer than we thought we would for all the right reasons.
Coffee: honeyco coffee was delicious. Well done pour over among the best I have had to date. My wife had an almond milk late that was well flavored and great temp.
Food: we had the cinnamon breakfast bun the first day and our daughter ate 90%. The second day we got a whole bunch of stuff. The same breakfast muffin thing, the raspberry dark Choco scone and a honey cream fresh one. Then as we sat we saw someone bringing more stuff out from the back and asked. We were told to stay for the next batch of blueberry scone with almond streusel topping. Holy mole! Worth the wait. Not that three of us needed four pastries but it was worth it
Service was great and friendly very welcoming. We will have to always come back when we are in town.

Loved this place, but it sure gets packed even on a week day. Had the almond milk latte and tried a house made soda and an iced tea. Would’ve stayed there longer if my meter wasn’t about to expire…

My cousin took me here and now wish I had something this cute in Chicago! Scout is so «California» with its laid back approach, natural décor and organic coffee and pastries. I loved it and really enjoyed the lattes and scones we got. The baristas here were so nice and really made out morning that much better. Scout is in a great location in SLO and its easy to grab your coffee and go walk around town. Love the décor and the little cute gifts they have as well. Overall a nice gem in the heart of SLO.

Seriously, this is the hub of everything adorable and delicious in Downtown SLO. Pastries, coffee, milkshakes, hot chocolate — the perfect pick-​me-​up.
Minus one star for not having any plugs for us laptop addicts. But I guess it’s a good thing, since more folks would park it in a booth and never leave.
Regardless, every trip to SLO must either start or end at Scout Coffee. Trust.

This is the perfect spot to take someone who’s new to the area to show them the ‘vibe’ of SLO.
Cute, small, quaint, friendly, open air, eclectic, tasty, cheap, good service. Can’t go wrong.
Poor outlet availability as others have said, so it’s more of a chill coffee shop than a work while chilling spot, but that’s okay.
The affagato is ridiculous… coffee and ice cream?! Forget it. Just get it.
The coffee is good, the custom sodas are good, the snacks are good.
It’s all good.

I stopped here with my friend on a Sunday around 3 p.m. We parked in metered street parking which runs 7 days a week and cost 25 cents for 10 minutes for up to two hours.
It was super crowded when we arrived and several people were hanging out on their laptops. The place was cute though and the staff was very friendly. My friend really enjoyed her cappuccino and I thought my coffee and cream milkshake was pretty good too. I could do without the crowd though.
They serve HoneyCo Coffee which I was told by the staff is a coffee roaster that is a different business than Scout but has the same owners.
Overall, I thought this was a solid place and would come back if I was in the area and looking for a place to hang out for a bit or get coffee/​a drink for the road.

I walked in and thought «whoa, this is where Anthropologie meets coffee». The design of this cute little coffee shop is super cute, and Anthropologie like. I love checking out different cafes wherever I go — and Scout definitely hit the spot in terms of taste and design!
I came early around 7:30AM on a Tuesday morning and there weren’t many people. I definitely checked out the Unilocal reviews before coming and couldn’t decide between the many drinks and pastries. I went with the morning bun (average, tasted like your regular morning bun haha — still delicious though) and the honey tea bowl w/​a cappucino.
OH MY GOD. The honey tea bowl is SOOO good! I believe it’s like chamomile tea with honey and almond milk maybe? Either way, this was the best honey tea bowl I’ve ever had.
I’m definitely going back to try their homemade almond milk and other pastries. Ugh, why can’t we have this in the bay? This is probably my favorite place in SLO. Super cute, homey, and delicious. :9
P. S. They have free wifi and comfy chairs — whats not to like?!

This is probably my best to go place in SLO! And after I found this place, my bf kept on visiting there when he needs something hot in the morning.
The interior is open and bright. they have a bunch of seatings, so you can take your time and eat or work on your computer.
They have a lot of almond milk options on the drink, but I think almond milk will dominate the taste too much on a latte or cappuccino, It should be in cortado. But anyways I like that option available. The pastries are good. Croissants are really well baked, and even the scones are delicious (i don’t usually like scones). Wish they have more options on the pastries, and make some more vegan pastries! Not sold out in the morning.

Unfortunately, Scout Coffee Co. just didn’t really do it for me. It’s a nice enough location, but it screams ‘pretentious hipster’, as evidenced by the excessively high prices of their drinks and snacks carried (Mast Brothers chocolate, I definitely regret buying your $ 10 chocolate bar there, pretty meh).
Out of the drinks the boy and I ordered (hot chocolate and a latte), we didn’t have any real quality issues, but for the price, it didn’t seem to add up. The cashier and baristas were nice enough, and the location itself is definitely a quiet, relaxing place to enjoy, but I’m not a fan of overpriced joints like this.
