Wally is awesome! A friend of mine recommended this place to me. I stopped by to get a new set of pedals. Wally was very patient with me as I took my time choosing the pedals. He helped me install them and fixed a minor issue with my back wheel. He also let me pump up my tires. Great experience!

Special ordered(I’m 6′-4″ 300 lbs) an XL frame Jamis hybrid from Wally’s. Ordered it on Monday, and picked up 100% ready to go Wednesday afternoon. A very competitive price, top-notch service from Chase to build the bike, then to help me identify the perfect accessories, a great vibe from Wally, and comfortable atmosphere in the shop. This is my new favorite bike shop.

Cam from out of town. Had a tire changed and noticed later it was narrower then the original. Called to have them refund and they were unwilling. They said it the bike would ride the same. Would not admit to their mistake. Wally is super nice otherwise though.

Wally’s is pretty much the only bike shop I ever went to. Over the years they helped me with some of my bike projects and get me the right parts if I needed something ordered(which was pretty punctual, would have it within 2 days). So overall, pretty generous with giving me a bit of mechanical assistance every once in a while or explaining how something works. Reasonable enough prices for a bike shop. So aside from going to the Bike Kitchen, I went here if I felt I needed a little more on the premium side. If Wally isn’t there, one or both of his apprentices were(I know one of their names was Jeremiah, the taller one. I can’t remember the other guys name), and they always seemed pretty knowledgeable. To the reviewer who complained about being chastised for touching the bikes… I’ve always felt it’s common courtesy to not touch bikes unless invited to or supervised. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel the universal guideline is to first get permission to touch another persons stuff, especially when that stuff is valuable.

We came here a few weeks ago to get my 4yo son his first bike. I’ve never bought a bike in my entire life so I was a little intimated going in, but the service here is very good. The man who helped us was very patient with my son, and very knowledgeable about the type of bike and gear we would need. We are costumers for life!

Amazing service today from the thoughtful and friendly Brandon who hooked us up with four sweet rides and a map to Avila Beach. Thanks for helping us make memories of a lifetime today! Amazing ride.

Had a bad experience there. First the owner told me my bike wasn’t safe(it was safe) and he would do the rear dérailleur repair but had to do a tune up. When I got the bike back he had took my dura ace mech off and slapped a old used tiagra on and re routes my cables. Long story short, by dérailleur slips and doesn’t shift fully, and my cables cut my turning radius in half. Good intentions, horrible skill set.

Great little bike shop. We rented mountain bikes that were AWESOME! My husband is way into mtn biking(me not as much) but apparently this place has some name brand bikes for their rentals and it pleased my bike hobby hubby. I have just a normal mtn bike at home and we went on an 8 mile ride through Poly Canyon and a lot of the city, too. I definitely noticed how much nicer this rental bike was than my own sad bike at home. Great quality and really nice people who work there, too. They even threw in a bike lock for me. :-)

I like the way they do business here. They have very skilled mechanics that get the job done in a timely manner. They have very high quality products. So far, I’ve purchased a lock, light, helmet, mirror and seat from them and all have been great and reasonably priced. It’s a very small shop but they have a huge warehouse in the back with some awesome bikes, including some high tech electric bikes and recumbent bikes. It’s locally owned too.

we needed bikes for the SLO Bike Nite and Wally’s was presented via Unilocal.it’s small but very friendly. i got the impression it caters mostly to road cyclists. reminded me of my local shop, Rage. service was very attentive. when they brought us out 2 geared hybrids, i asked if my wife could have a «non-geared» cruiser and they hooked us up with an even easier bike for her to handle. they made sure everything was in working order, gave us a bike lock, and even outfitted both bikes with front and rear lights. drop off was just as easy. great bike shop!

Wally is an amazing lifesaver. I was recently down in Arroyo Grande for the Central Coast Classique century bike ride. 40 miles in, I freaked out when I cracked a spoke in half and slowly rode back to the starting blocks. Wally took the time to rustle through his car to find the right parts for my wheel, fix it completely, and also explain to me how I could prevent this problem in the future. I left 20 minutes later to finish the last 60 miles, with a little more knowledge of my bike and a brand new spoke in place. Thank you Wally!

There are way too many positive reviews here. That’s what you may think, but I’m going to add yet another. I’ve been a customer since a friend recommended that I check it out about 2 – 3 years ago, and have ended up buying my bike from Wally’s. Since then, whenever I visit the place I’ve always received good service. And it’s cool when I see others receiving such good service too. Yesterday, I’ve taken in my bike with a flat tire that would not stay inflated, thinking that I was going to have to get a new tube or tire. Jeremiah checked it out, found it to be okay, and did a once-over of my bike, which hasn’t been ridden in months, and said that it was in good shape and didn’t needed a tune-up at the moment, I then had a few questions about a replacement headlight and bike helmets. When I left, I paid for the headlight only. This was great, friendly customer service that I really do appreciate. So yes, there are loads of positive reviews here, but I feel that they are there because they are earned. I’d recommend Wally’s in a heartbeat, whether you want to buy or rent a bike, have a quick check, or have questions. And if you need good places to bike, like I overhead one customer while there yesterday, I’m sure they can provide that too.

Wally’s was great when I was trying to replace my stolen bike. They were the only place in town that had a selection of single speeds, and they even ordered and delivered a bike I found online. A couple days later I realized the bike I ordered was not the bike for me and they exchanged it for the bike I ride now. I can’t express my gratitude towards Wally’s for helping correct my mistake and hook me up with a bike I truly love to ride. Seriously, if your looking for a bike, check out Wally’s!

These guys are awesome. I was cycling round trip Orcutt/SLO/Orcutt and broke a spoke. I rode my bike to Wally’s and they repaired my ride immediately. The place was buzzing with activity and somehow they managed to get me going quickly. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. I was so impressed that I returned soon after and purchased a set of Rolf Prima Vigor RS wheels from them. I am sponsored by another shop that I love and support. That being said, I will continue to be a loyal customer to Wally’s as well. I don’t know of any other shop that would do what they did, being as busy as they were. Thank you guys for doing what you do.

Wally helped with everything when I rented a road bike. I was very impressed with the bike, the service and the little things, such as a lock, saddle bag, pedals and bike tool. The bike rode nicely and Wally even offered to give me a ride after I returned the bike. All I can say is, «you have any biking needs while in San Luis Obispo, call or drop into Wally’s.»

I had to leave a review for this place. We bought bikes recently from Wally and he gave us a great deal and helped me learn to use the clip ins as well. I am new to road biking and will come to Wally for any repairs or accessories I need.

If I’m anywhere remotely near San Luis Obispo and looking to rent a bike, THIS is where I would go. My mom and I were in town and wanting to go biking through the nearby vineyards. We went to Wally’s, not really knowing what we were doing. The staff was incredibly helpful in figuring out what kind of bikes we needed. The man who was helping us knew where we wanted to go, and since our rental car didn’t fit the bikes, he drove them in his truck, and we followed him. We knew the shop closed at 6, so we asked what time we should call him to have him pick up the bikes, and he told us whenever we were ready. He didn’t care if it was after 6, he just told us to enjoy ourselves! When he came for the bikes, around 7:30, he was very friendly and personal, still suggesting other places we stop by on our road trip. This experience was nothing short of fantastic!

Rented 2 bikes for my daughter and I. Great deal. 5 days, 2 road bikes, 2 helmets, 2 locks, 1 pannier … $ 140 including tax. Good bikes, great experience. Kudos to the young kid with glasses that works there. He was VERY pleasant to work with and got us just what we wanted.
