While we are proud to have been voted «Best Wine Bar» in the 2014 San Diego U-​T Readers Poll, we are so much more! In our wine shop we offer over 600 wines at great prices. Our lovely patio is a terrific spot for parties and events. We host fundraisers for local charities. Plus we conduct off-​site tasting events for companies and civic organizations. We even offer three different wine club options, and we ship throughout the country. In short, we are happy to assist you in any way possible!

History

Established in 2006.

The original owner established the business in the summer of 2006 but by 2010 had decided to sell. Local brothers Jim and Bill Tobin, with a combined 58 years retail wine experience between them, took over in late July and have been working hard to turn NCWC into the premier wine destination in North County. They have hand-​picked 100’s of new wines and beers, lowered prices across the board, beautified the outdoor wine patio, and instilled a warm, comfortable approach to customer service. Jim and Bill look forward to serving North County for many years to come!

Jim Tobin and his brother Bill are from a local family that has been running businesses in San Diego county since the turn of the 19^th Century, when their great-​grandfather ran the Poway stagecoach stop. As store managers for a regional retail chain, they each developed thriving wine programs in their stores in La Jolla and Del Mar, which led them ultimately to acquiring their own wine shop and wine bar in San Marcos.

Their bedrock belief is that good wine + good food + good friends = a great life. They share this passion with a relentless focus on customer service and finding great wines at great prices, routinely tasting hundreds of wines a week in order to bring their customers the very best wines as well as the best values. In fact, Jim and Bill are so confident in their wines that they guarantee everything they sell. If you’re ever less than fully satisfied, bring the bottle back for your choice of a refund or exchange.
