Pecan Park Riverside RV & Cabins

The park itself is beautiful but the staff is awful and I think their policies are questionable. I was not refunded my deposit from the park because «I left before my time was up». I had to have my travel trailer towed away due to complete total from a flood. On top of that I was away for three days and no one notified me that my brand new trailer was no longer inhabitable. I understand the no refunds under any circumstances but I hardly think an act of god destroying it is something I should be accountable for. Did they expect me to just sit out there on the lot? The staff is rude and has no idea what they are doing. The office manager, Audrey, told me for 6 months I would be getting my refund until the owner told me I wasn’t getting a cent back.

Laid back friendly staff and clean park. We will definitely be back! Park got wiped out from the floods but they are making their way back.
Great section of the river for a short float. Canoe and kayak rentals right next to park. Winery just a shirt Nike ride away. Nice grounds for groups and families.

I stayed at Pecan Park the last week of December. The park has been through a lot of flooding this past year. The park was very nice and working to rebuild. They had 2 great pet parks. The dogs loved to be off lead and run. The staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend.

Pecan Park Riverside has some definite positive points. The area is quiet. There are some strict policies like limits on partying which evidently come into play during the summertime, that make this an enjoyable place to stay. It’s also obvious this park suffered some through the flooding, as you can see large trees toppled over near the river. Everything works. Water, electrical and a full lineup of cable here. The Internet, a common complaint of RVers is spectacularly good. Maybe it’s because there are fewer RVers here.
The one thing the park could control, the pull thrus are a bit of a mess. It’s not level and there are ruts from the mud. I found out from another person the camp has flooded a few times, so that explains why the camp was in that condition.

We spent our winter here. The owners and staff are friendly and run a clean RV park. It’s peaceful and relaxing here! I can’t say enough good things about this park! If your ever in San Marcos this is the place to stay!

The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. We have stayed there twice now, once in the winter and now in the spring and they remember us by name each time. The campground is covered in beautiful oak and cypress trees, so there are very few full sun spaces. The grass is green, the park is very clean and the river bank has a frisbee golf range that families are always using. It is family and pet friendly with full hookups and cable TV connection. We highly recommend this campground.

We stayed here during the Easter holiday. Reserving our RV spot was a snap, no issues and the customer service was very nice. Before we booked this place, I did read through several of the reviews. Saying that, I don’t always take them to heart because, honestly, people are different in what they expect and you should never assume. Besides, I like to form my own opinion :). The park was very clean, quiet, and peaceful. There were a lot of families and everyone looked like they were having a great time. River access for floating was very easy to get to. Laundry room very nice. They had breakfast and dinner events and even a movie night on the lawn. The park rules and regs weren’t really different from some of the other places we have visited. I like the fact that the owners enforce their rules. We did not see anything out of line. The prices are comparable to similar parks. You’re not so far out of San Marcos that you can’t drive in to town for dinner. We will definitely go back!

We cannot say enough nice things about how helpful the office staff were at Pecan Park! We had to organize our arrival from out of town and we were not prepared with all the info we needed.
The web site says they accept American Express, but they were not at the time of our arrival but this didn’t really cause us a problem. The staff worked with us to complete their reservation form and worked out several kinks to help us get set up for a long term stay at this beautiful location.

Place was ok, not spectacular met the owner at an rv convention where he talked it up. this place had more of a retirement community feel. will not return. Reccomend you read ALL reviews for this place before booking, we should have.

Awesome place to stay for a night or longer! (We’ve done both). The grounds are in tip-​top shape, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. We’d definitely recommend Pecan Park for your stay in the San Marcos/​Austin area!

I decided to stay here because I was impressed with the professional website and it sounded like it was the kind of place that would be peaceful. However it ended up being more stressful than peaceful because of the obnoxious policies in place.
1.) Price. We paid $ 55 for a premium site. We went with a premium site because I want peace and quiet when I camp. I don’t want to be sleeping under my neighbors awning or slide outs. The website made it sound like these sites were awesome. And while they had some nice bonuses (The gas grill was nice to have) but I would have happily traded the gas grill for a real fire pit. Yes, that’s right, the «premium» site does not include a fire pit. It has a «chimenea» instead. Overnight guests are charged extra. Day use guests are charged extra. NONE of this is mentioned on the «Rates» page of their website. So you think you’re paying $ 55/​night (Which is already insanely high for a campsite) and you end up paying much more than that.
2.) Firewood. The rules on their website don’t mention restrictions against bringing firewood, at all. But after you make the reservation and they’ve already charged your card they send you an email informing you that you’re limited to 25 pieces of outside firewood that must be kept in a «lidded plastic container». Really? The email goes on to tell you how they conveniently sell firewood. But given the insane prices this place charges I wouldn’t even want to venture down that road. So we call to ask, and they tell us on the phone that having firewood in the bed of our pickup truck was fine, it just couldn’t be on the ground. Ok, I can deal with that. So we bring our firewood. Then when we arrive they hand us a pamphlet of park rules which says in big bold letters «NO OUTSIDE FIREWOOD.» Ugh, can we at least be consistent with the rules here? The website makes no mention, the email says 25 pieces in a lidded container, on the phone they say it’s fine in the bed of the truck and then when you arrive the rules state no outside firewood? My head is spinning.
3.) Tubing. Our plan was for some of us to camp the weekend and the rest of our friends were just coming down to spend Saturday floating the river. The rates on the website say $ 20/​$ 17 (Tube With/​without a bottom). But when our friends arrived on Saturday morning they were informed that they’d have to pay an extra $ 5 because they were my «guests». In other words, since this place has already charged me an obnoxious amount of money for a campsite now they want to charge my friends even more *because* I have a campsite?
They had no intentions of going into the campground or doing anything at my campsite. But the women in the office claimed that because they don’t «police» where people go once they get out of the river at the exit, they can’t be sure they won’t use our campsite… That’s the most asinine argument I’ve ever heard. After my friends decided we should just go tube somewhere else, one of the ladies in the office finally said «If you can assure me they won’t use your campsite then we won’t charge them the $ 5.» Well it’s a little late now because they are already on their way to Don’s.
In addition to the pricing mess, their website also claimed you can tube for a longer time period by getting out at «Scull’s» downstream. When we asked about this they said «Oh we don’t do that anymore, maybe we should update our website.» Well, they have at least added an asterisk next to that on their website now.
4.) Hospitality. They were friendly enough when we first arrived, but I wasn’t too happy with the way we were treated on Saturday when we were trying to figure out the tubing situation. The overall attitude seemed to be that we must be going to try and screw them over by letting our friends come hang out at our campsite (Oh the horror!) so they’d better charge everyone $ 5/​person up front. And they weren’t even friendly about it.
5.) Peace and Quiet. This was a real irony kicker. I chose this place and decided it was worth the extra money because it seemed like a very quiet family friendly spot. Instead, our «premium» $ 55/​night campsite was right on the road coming in to the park. And all night long people were coming in going. They have on the rules no arrivals after 10pm, yet there was a stream of traffic until past midnight. And the drivers entering/​exiting the park all had to drive past our RV, and they weren’t even trying to drive slow or quietly. One tuned up diesel pickup pulled right out the driveway and floored it and peeled out. Anyone who wasn’t already awake was then. There were speed-​bumps right in front of our campsite on the driveway and cars would either hit them so fast you could hear their suspension bottom out, or they would slam on the brakes and then floor it once they were over.
I had written more on TripAdvisor, but Unilocal limits me to 5,000 characters. Bottom line: Don’t let these guys nickel and dime you. There are cheaper places to stay that are just as nice.

I stayed here two years ago and remembered it to be in better shape. Poorly run and the upkeep is minimal. My campsite was too small and much too close together. The staff was unhelpful, not rude but not friendly either. I was told shuttle service to tube on the river was included with camping but when I asked about getting a ride to float the river I was asked to pay $ 15 per person. I told the lady I thought it to be included and she laughed and said heck no! Cable didn’t work well either. The infrastructure is old. I would not recommend staying here, felt as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to park my camper here, too ad because it is on the river and with a little effort it could be great.

Thought I’d give my opinion. I wouldn’t say it’s a «Crazy nice» camp ground, but it certainly isn’t bad either. maybe «cozy» is a better description. Gate access is no joke, I’m guessing that summer time river traffic is a problem. Most RV spots were reserved on this random weekend. There seemed to be a lot of «extended stay» campers (which I’m not a big fan of) maybe snow birds (as there were several vehicles from up North) but some local construction workers for sure. My guess is, this rv park is a good fit for families with younger kids as there is a nice playground, volleyball, indoor pool and of course river access… Also, its just a few exits down I-​35 to the San Marcos outlet mall, so the park proximity is good for shopping if that’s you’re thing. The RV spaces are VERY close to each other, I don’t particularly care for that, but the neighbors were all nice. They (staff) were very picky about the type of dog /​pet you bring with you. They exclude several «popular breeds» it’s their park and their right, but I’ve seen these «banned breeds» at other parks and have never had a problem. Overall, it was a nice visit. We are scheduled to return to the RV park later this summer to see a friends daughter graduate Texas State, we’ve asked for the same spot again as it was a good fit for our motor home.

The place may be nice but the guy that runs it is a moron.
I went there to pick up my friend. Not camp, not even stay for 15 minutes. He got all bent out of shape that I wouldn’t pay $ 5 to pick up my buddy (drive on his lot). When I drove up to the fence, not even on his lot, to pick up my friend he threatened to call the sheriff. What a dickhead.
