History

Established in 2012.

SD Moto was originally conceived by owner Landy Cordero. With extensive motorcycle industry experience and strong customer following in various parts of the world, Landy wanted to bring something special to San Diego. SD Moto is a place for riders.

Though the company is still in its infancy, SD Moto is everyone’s pit stop. No matter what you ride, Landy is the mechanic that has had his hands practically on every type of motorcycle or scooter there is thanks to his relentless pursuit to master his craft. There is reason why people hold him in high regard-​simply he cares about doing the right thing all the time. He is also a former active duty Marine and holds his work along with his staff to the highest of standards!

I left my 1970s moped at Landy’s shop for throttle and wiring repair… two months later he announces he is «walking away» from it after doing NOTHING at ALL to it.
I was pretty upset since he put zero effort into fixing it or locating parts.

Tried SD Moto after getting non-​existent service at the local dealership. He was helpful over the phone, got to my bike quickly, did excellent work for a reasonable cost. I was very comfortable working with them and he saved me from making a serious mistake regarding the parts I had purchased elsewhere. I’ll definitely be back in the future!

Landy helped me out and treated me, a Mom in her late 50’s, with respect and courtesy I found myself in a situation where I agreed to sell my adult son’s MC. Landy did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge concerning MC’s. My son went up north to college to follow his dream and of course his girl, there is always a girl to the story isn’t there. My son needed to sell his MC but wanted me to have it serviced prior to posting a Craig’s list add. I had the Triumph delivered to SD Moto to have it checked over by Landy. Landy talked to me, checked out my son’s Triumph Thruxton from fender to fender. When he told me the cost of his services I was blown away at how low the cost was, so, I gave him a generous tip. I am thrilled with the service and the honesty of this man.

Landy and his crew are literally the best mechanics around. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my bike but Landy. He’s honest and he knows his bikes for sure! I live in Encinitas and driving to San Marcos is definitely worth the ride to have Landy wrenching on my bike. I would highly recommend SD Moto to anyone hands down.

Landy has been my mechanic for the last 7 years. Within the first year of going to his shop I blew the lower end of my 01 monster. Landy went above and beyond my expectations of service, and got my baby purring like wow. Always fair, informative, and just a cool guy. He is the only guy I go to for work on my Ducati. Bring him a coffee, and tell him Justin sent you.

Landy is awesome! He’s super up front, professional, and pays attention to the smallest of detail. He offers free advice and will explain why he did what he did. Quality of work is excellent, estimated time to completion is spot on, and prices are fantastic. Will be back and definitely will recommend to friends!
Update: I recently took my Ducati 848 in to have the major valve service done. Once again, I was impressed. His attention to detail is astounding. He walked me through each thing worked on, what was wrong, things that will need to be done in the future, and actually would show me what was wrong (so you don’t just have to take his word for it). The best mechanic I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking my bike to!

So many have agreed on their reviews of this shop, because there is a common thread at SD Moto. That being, that Landy (Owner/​Technician); is straight-​foward, knowledgeable, and honest. Three great attributes to possess and hard to find in an experienced motorcycle technician, and it is clearly demonstrated through the high quality work done at the shop. San Diego, you have stolen a gem from L.A., appreciate it!

I enjoyed the honesty and up front attitude of Landy. Being my first bike, I read up a lot so that I would not be taken. I’ve had my experience with a wrench or too and I always believe to know the basics of your vehicle. Research, research, research. When I got around to exchanging emails and talking to Landy, it turned out to be a great experience and got my bike back running strong as ever. Great pricing and really happy with the work. This shop is brand new and I must say, I couldn’t be more excited for the shop owner Landy, but sad he has left us in LA. I was referred to Landy a while back and have to say that he is probably one of the last honest mechanics. Extremely experienced, and from what I understand, Landy has a background in bike racing as well. Seems like Landy has been around the block and really knows his bikes (and explained everything so I could understand – and kept it real). I would be willing to drive to SD to have Landy work on my bike or would refer anyone else to go to SD Moto to have Landy take care of theirs. IMMEDIATE FAN!
