I’m in here often since I live nearby and don’t always want to schlepp to the HEB. Without exception, the staff have always been friendly, even when I come in under a cloud or they’re a new employee. Their selection of beers almost make me wish I drank beer – standards, micros, Grosch – you’ll find something you’ll like. Their wine selection definitely says college town, yet I usually find a basic pinot grigio and the markup is less than across the street at Walgreens, plus my money stays local. The grocery aisle has basic staples(tinned veggies, pasta, cake mix, condiments) with occasional surprises(organic red pepper-tomato soup was shockingly good). There’s also an eclectic mix of household supplies, and 99% of the time I find what I need. Plus of course all the caffeinated beverages, chips, Blue Bell and ice you expect in a gas station. It may not be the Whip In, but I am glad to have it as my convenience store.
