The Kitchen Center

I have to say, I can not agree with a some of these negative reviews. I believe it’s mostly the dissatisfied customer who will take the time to write a review.
We had our kitchen redone by The Kitchen Center last year, and overall, we were very satisfied with the work they did. The price was reasonable and the workmanship was very good. There were a few hiccups along the way, (a bad batch of wood sealant from the manufacturer forced them to re-​sand and reseal the cabinets, taking 2 extra days) but all in all, they finished close to schedule and even did a little extra work without charging us for this inconvenience.
Side note — almost a year later, one of our drawers started to squeak when opening and closing. We called The Kitchen Center and they had it fixed within a week at no charge. We would recommend The Kitchen Center.

Just finished another job with The Kitchen Center. He updated our patio kitchen and used the leftover granite from the kitchen remodel he had done for us a few months ago. We love it and the job was done right of course.

Cabinets look absolutely stunning! I was searching for someone who can make me custom cabinetry for my kitchen, office, guest and master bath. I came across The Kitchen Center when driving down the 78. We had seen their shop from the freeway so we stopped in, spoke with Ron and scheduled an appointment. They came out as promised, discussed our options and we picked out what we wanted. A $ 1000 down payment was given and the date was set! Ron came out and drew up the design for the cabinets and the next installment was due. When I was at their shop to drop off the next payment, my boyfriend called me and told me to get the money back. He had found them on Unilocal and read all the bad reviews :/​. We we a little nervous since we already gave a down payment. We were getting the feeling that we had made a big mistake. I couldn’t believe we didn’t look them up on Unilocal first! We phoned Ron the following day and had explained how we were not happy with our decision based off of the Unilocal reviews. He had promised us that we would not be disappointed. So we decided to take a gamble… Besides their price was much better than all of the others. To say the least, we are more than satisfied! We love all the new cabinets, vanities, and custom closet for our office. The installers were great and very personable. We would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for everything!

I reviewed this company back in 2012 and the review is not shown but, I will repeat my review. I was extremely happy with the work done by The Kitchen Center and would be happy to recommend them.

My experience with the kitchen centre was a lot like the other reviews below. I hired them approximately 8 years ago to remodel my kitchen, bathrooms and Hall storage cabinets. The granite they installed was scratched and they told me that was not their fault so I’m stuck living with a scratched granite slab for years now. Bothers me every time I go to my bathroom to wash my hands. Also my kitchen cabinet next to the stove was installed an inch taller than the adjacent cabinets causing my stove to sit crooked. I contacted the kitchen centre and spoke to Ron and he told me he would talk with the owner Mark and get back to me. His response later was Mark didn’t want to worry about it so they weren’t going to do anything. Oh well I had to pay another contractor $ 500 to fix their mistake. I would avoid Mark and Ron and the kitchen center at all costs! If you think this review is a sham, read my numerous other reviews that are generally favorable for most businesses I deal with.

One of the worst investments I have ever made!
We wanted to remodel our daughter’s bathroom. Mark came to our house and told us we’ll do this and that, it will cost this, and everything was good to go. Unfortunately, Mark never relayed what he promised us to the actual workmen who came to remodel the bathroom. Most egregious was Mark told us they would create 2 nice decorative niches in the shower tile wall, a place to set shampoo bottles and the like. When we returned home from work and the tile guy was doing the bathroom, the entire shower was tiled, and there were no niches. We freaked and asked him about it, he told us that Mark never told him there were supposed to be niches. Well, we demanded to have this corrected as previously promised to us.
You can guess what happened next. They cut into the brand new tile to form a single niche. Did a lot of patch work, and of course it looked like hell. Mark explained it away saying that the niche would have looked that way if they had done it as part of the original tile work. Uh huh.
Several other mistakes were made, all because of a lack of communication from the salesperson who was more concerned about securing the sale instead of letting the workers know what needed to be done.
Not only can I not recommend the Kitchen Center to anyone seeking a kitchen or bathroom remodel, but I would go further to implore to you take this review (and what I see are considerably more reviews like this below) to heart and pass on this company and seek someone else to do your remodel.
I paid over $ 10,000 for a job I’m sick with every time I look at the bathroom.

I had a very bad experience with Kitchen Center. I urge you to not do business with them. I would hate to think that anyone else would have to go through the disappointment of a thoroughly botched remodel like I did.
Mark, the owner, is a good salesman. He sold my husband and I on the vision of a beautifully remodeled kitchen. He was quick to write up a contract and collect a deposit. His involvement in the project ended there. We never saw him again. He turned all communications and the management of our remodel over to a disgruntled, incompetent and short tempered employee Ron. Ron and his crew of unskilled laborers did an absolutely horrible job from start to finish and ruined our kitchen. When they were finished, all I could think of is what I would give to have my old kitchen back.
Complaints and specific problems are too numerous to mention, so will try to stick with a few of the more obvious. Cabinet doors are uneven, and the cabinet stain is fading because it was not finished properly. There are noticeable puckers in the cabinet veneer and glue smeared around the seams. There are gaping holes around the built in appliances. The backsplash tiles are uneven and the grout was not sealed causing leaks around the sink. The moldings around the cabinets are uneven and are dropping off leaving exposed nails. The wood does not match (have since discovered that they used two different kinds of wood and both of a very poor grade).

Very bad contractor, the owner is just plain rude and does NOT care about how the job turn out, just the money. Don’t do business with them

I built a custom home and had Mark at the Kitchen Center design a beautiful kitchen (believe me, it looks better then I cook), and 6 bathrooms. He was very easy to work with, had great ideas and brought the job in on time. Each area had a very custom and unique look. Once that was done we had him do several cabinets for TVs and loved them. We just had him copy a piece of furniture from a magazine for another home and he made it better and for a less expensive price. Overall I am very pleased with every project the Kitchen Center produced and would use them and recommend them to any of my friends!

I hope you like reading reviews because this one is long and sad! I don’t know why my review ended up in the «non-​recommended» status, but if your reading this I am glad and hope it helps you make a decision.
We had our cabinets refaced by the Kitchen Center. I would never use them again. There was no supervision of the project, mistakes left and right, sloppy work, the stain color came out incorrect, terrible communication and they left a mess on my walls, floors, backyard, etc. On top of all that I tried to talk to someone to complain and the sales guy didn’t want to talk to me about it. I called others with no return calls and then wrote a letter to the owner with no reply.
Interestingly I ran into their booth at the fair last year. I tried explaining to the booth attendant, in a very nice way, the problems I had. Amazingly she didn’t want to talk to me and immediately threatened to call and then called security. My son got a big kick out of that odd behavior. Below are some of the details of the project gone bad.
Sloppy Work — They got stain and urethane on my walls, floor, wall paper, drawer interiors, and drawer rails so the wheels don’t turn right, etc.
They ordered the wrong doors (doors with pull sides). I brought this to their attention and they refused to replace them with the correct doors and instead offered to cut off the sides. Not a solution. My wife didn’t want us to argue about the problem so we allowed them to use the wrong doors.
The stain came out way too dark. At first the worker kept telling me it would look different once they put on the urethane. It didn’t. I asked him why it was so much darker then the sample door and he said that the sample door was old! Thanks a lot.
The drilled hardware holes did not line up properly. there was about a half inch difference with one. Luckily my hardware had about a half inch width to cover the base and I re-​drilled all of the holes and ran the handles down in between the originals.
They were to have a 3 yard bin delivered for all the trash and construction waste. This never showed up and they left all the trash in my back yard. They also left a thin coat of urethane dust all over my garage and driveway. (I made the mistake of paying them the balance while they were in the process of cleaning up)
There was so much more. Dust, dirt, lack of supervision, etc. The worst experience I have had with a contractor. Beware of this company!
One final note. When having a company do cabinet refacing, be sure to negotiate that they stain the interior edges behind the doors. I had asked what they do for the inside edge. I discovered that they don’t do this at the time of the initial sales call and had them work it into the agreement. If you don’t do this, then you will end of with interior edges the color of your old cabinets.
Even stranger is that the owner finally responds to my review on here but had ignored me when the time counted. His claim is that they don’t have issues. Funnier yet, a Unilocal user emailed me a while back and had said that she had many problems and wished that she had read my review first. Some companies just don’t change. They are still a mess. Don’t do business with these guys! They might even call the Del Mar Fair security on you if you try to nicely talk to them about a problem!
These guys were the worst!

Be very careful before you sign a contract with this company one thing they don’t disclose is that they do the cabinet finishing on your garage or backyard it makes a huge mess in your house not to mention the smell. They are very rude and lack customer services, specially Ron.
