Alice Computerworks

I have used their service a few times for my computers and laptop. My laptop could not start up and went in a loop. Hayden, the technician had provided an excellent service with his superior technical support. I’d highly recommend Hayden Yi for your computer needs.

Even though it has the obligatory computer parts for sale, this place is definitely for IT and computer repair. They deal with both Apple and PCs, speak fluently in English and Chinese. I’ve been here multiple times since they opened, so I’ve seen the growth of the store as more and more people hear about Alice. Their strong suits are definitely customer service and reasonable pricing. Your electronics will poop out over time, and they want you to keep coming back. I had a few problems when my laptop was 5yo, and at 7yo they firmly suggested I replace it but they would keep repairing it if I really was that attached. I finally retired it at 9 years with their recycling program, and they couldn’t be happier for me.

They did a virus removal for $ 80 but it didn’t seem to clean it so I brought it back. For another $ 20 they reformat the HD and reinstalled Win 10. My system is running great. Excellent service and attention to details. Solid 5 stars

The service was amazing. I have never gotten anything fixed so quickly. They fixed my iPad screen in around 12 hours!!! My iPad looks amazing and brand new!

This place is a hidden gem! Great customer service :) My Apple Mac Book Pro with Retina Display 13″ had a loose monitor screen. I went to Alice Computerworks and the guys had it fixed within the next hour! Also, they were extremely kind, helpful, and appreciative! I will definitely be returning to Alice Computerworks in the future =)

This place is a hidden gem! Cracked screen, fingers scratched up from trying to still use the phone and no time to squeeze in an appointment at the Apple Store! Too many kids to pick up and drop off! They are an authorized apple retailer and hooked it up with easy parking and awesome customer service! Even got a cup of coffee AND a free USB for checking in! They totally turned this frown upside-​down! I’ll definitely be back! Thanks guys! No more bloody fingers from my cracked screen! Thanks guys!

My first time to this place! My ASUS laptop suddenly crash dead on me, and I couldn’t turn it on at all. I was working on a paper the whole week and everything was gone, totally freaked me out. A friend recommended this place and so I went. The guy Kevin helped me out there. He’s super nice and knowledgable. And pretty much retrieved all my data in about less than 15minutes and even gave me a free USB to put them in. Really professional and considerate. Highly recommend this place. I’m so glad I came, so next time if any accidents like this happen again, I know exactly where to go. Thank u Kevin, u really saved my day!

I have been here many times. They offer excellent service with reasonable price. It is the only computer store that I trust.

I bought several computers from them during past few years. They are very professional and they don’t push you to buy things that you do not need. Most of the staffs are able to speak Chinese. I always ask for Andrew, who offers great service and advice. Unlike other stores, Alice Computerworks offers excellent after-​sales support. They make sure that you are truly satisfied with their service. BTW, they also carry Apple products.

Stay Away! I would not recommend this place. They do not listen whatsoever nor do they follow simple instructions. Alice Computers erased all of my photos and videos even though I asked them (twice) for a back up. Also, I emailed them on a separate unresolved issue and I got NO Response. Leaving negative feedback is not my thing but I am so disappointed with Alice Computers.

Awesome experience. Alex was extremely helpful and explained everything that was going on with my Mac laptop. I compared prices with a number of places and I found Alice Computerworks was reasonable and had excellent customer service. They fixed my hard drive super quick too! Will be a returning customer!

Staff is friendly, prices are fair, and the work they do is solid but not excellent. I have been there on multiple occasions to get mechanical repair done on my laptop and I believe they offer a 6 month warranty. I had completely obliterated my laptop’s screen in the past because I sat on it by accident. Because my laptop is an ultrabook, they told me that the entire top cover display assembly needed to be replaced instead of just the screen itself because my ultrabook’s screen was integrated into the case in such a way that it is all ½ piece of the whole laptop. This drove the price way up. But I guess it’s not surprising considering that most higher end products almost always come with higher maintenance/​repair costs. Or is it «clever» (intentionally dishonest) engineering on HP’s part? I think I paid around $ 350 for that particular service. After maybe about 1.5 years, the right hinge came loose so they told me that they could either temporarily fix it with super glue for only $ 60, or replace the frame for about $ 150. I told them to go ahead with the super glue and it lasted for maybe about…7 months? It gradually came completely off again so I had to have them super glue it a second time for another $ 60. That second super glue repair lasted only about 3 months. So I thought I could just use that second super glue repair receipt and have it fixed for free again under warranty but supposedly they can’t just super glue it on again because it is beyond repair or something like that. So now my laptop’s right hinge is kinda just broken. Depending on what the product or service you wish to purchase, you may save in the 10−20% range compared to places like Best Buy or Staples I would say. But as Unilocal’s 3-​stars signify, it is an A-​Okay computer shop. I think I will always just come to this place whenever I have a problem with my computer because they seem ⁸⁄₁₀ honest which is better than most businesses in general I think.

When I was studying at P.C.C, I refused to upgrade after my laptop died, knowing what path that would lead down. Instead, I used an older prebuilt my father had put in the garage when he got a new one. This P. C, like all older models, had started to slow down, but I expected that, ran the usual anti-​virus check, etc. Then, six months later or so, it started making odd noises and crashing with an error message. I didn’t particularly want to buy another, so I came here to see if it could be helped. It was fixed within few couple of days, and at a very reasonable charge, with some free fan replacements. It runs to this day.
I went in early to pick up the computer, because I had work later than morning, and the guy was there fifteen minutes or so later than the posted opening hours, and I couldn’t reach him by phone. Maybe call ahead if you’re in a hurry. However, he was apologetic.
This is an odd little shop. Heavily cluttered with open computers. It has a desultory shopfront area with a light stock of computer accessories, memory sticks, graphic cards, that kind of thing, messily arranged. I get the sense that this primarily a P. C fixing business.
I haven’t needed a computer fixed since then, but I’d come here if I did.

Alice computer is the place to go for all computer needs. The staff is very friendly and very helpful to all their customers, always taking all the measures needed to figuring out what is the issue with the computers and laptops brought in. Everybody I have talked to here is very professional and helpful.
The first time I came in here, Kevin checked me in, and I was told it would be looked over by a tech the next day. Sure enough, the next day, Alex called me and explained the issue and how they would fix it. I gave him the approval and the day after he called me back and told me it was ready! I came in to pick up my laptop and Ivan turned the laptop on for me and showed me what was done to fix it. Everything has been working great since then and I refer all my friends and family to them! Great crew and great service!

Let me just preface this review by saying i’m not a total noob when it comes to computers. The computer I brought in to them, I built myself. However, I just didn’t have the time to fix it myself, so I figured why not give this business a shot seeing the how they have awesome reviews.
I also really wanted to like this place because the guys here seemed pretty chill, but it was just a HORRIBLE experience overall. Suffice to say, my computer was giving me a intermittent crashing issue during normal and gaming use and they misdiagnosed the problem THREE freakin times.
1^st time after they ran through a multitude of stress tests, they said it was my SSD gone bad, which was totally fine the morning that I brought it in, but I figured why not replace it? The guy on the phone said he was fairly confident that was the issue. Okay, I go out and spend $ 90 get a new SSD and replace myself. Still getting the crashing issues.
2^nd time I bring it in, they essentially updated a few drivers, including the BIOS on my motherboard and told me to go try that. Okay, went home, and about an 1hr into gaming, my computer crashes.
3^rd time I bring it in, they got back to me the day after, stating it was a video card issue. I asked them are they sure? They said positive, so I go out and drop $ 500 for a new video card. After a day of use without any crashing, I was like «hallelujah!!!», only for it to crash the next day randomly, during normal non-​gaming use.
So yea, I definitely feel defeated and stupid after this experience.

As the owner of a small business, I have some occasions that need for immediate servicing of my computers. The guys at Alicecompurter are reliable and efficient at servicing my pcs after some severs crashed and at rescuing data when needed. They are also very helpful at recommending hardware replacement parts and system best practices. I recommend them without hesitation and rely on them for their great service.

Called again and didn’t use their services… yet.
Again, impressed that they took that much time to explain to me my options to upgrade my iMac after I foolishly upgraded to Yosemite… I should’ve picked up on APPLE ploy to slow down old computers with free upgrades so that I would opt to buy a new iMac… we have 3 iMacs, 2 laptops, 2 iPads and an iPhone… ANYWAYS, Alice and their staff, I tink his name was Kevin, have gone above and beyond light years in trying to help me. ALICE COMPUTERWORKS, I promise that I will visit you and buy your service. You could’ve done what most other places do and just dismiss me over the phone but you really took your time and instead of selling a product you gave me options that in the long run would’ve helped. I will spread my experience to my APPLE friends… tank you!!!

I had an EXCELLENT experience at Alice Computer after I figured out which of the comupter shops on the short stretch of SGV it actually was. I bought bunch parts for my computer parts from black friday sale, needed someone who can do a perfect job to build up my computer.
Kevin and Alex who worked on my computer is amazing, they are very friendly and really helpful, and i am not the only one who comes here for the computer, bunch of my friends came here to any computer set up.
i give them 2 thumbs up!

I don’t really do much on my home computer. So I just never got around to getting one. I just did most things on my iPad. Whatever I couldn’t do I did at work.
Long story short, mom had an older MacBook Pro FOR FREE and recommended we go to this local spot to get it wiped and put her stuff on an external drive.
$ 200 later I have a perfectly good updated Pro, so now I can surf the internet, download my iTunes, upload and organize my pics and be crafty, update my damn 4s until the 6 comes out, and Unilocal of coarse.
Thanks for the great service and for treating my mom so well when she goes to you guys. For that reason alone you deserve 5 more stars from me :)

I wanted to like this place. I really did. But my whole experience with Alice Computerworks was one mishap after another.
When I spilled water on my laptop this past Christmas Eve, I was so desperate to find a place other than the Apple store to fix my baby, seeing as how everyone said that it’d take over $ 700 to fix water damage. I had let it dry for a day and a blinking question mark appeared on the screen. I looked on Unilocal and found Alice Computerworks. After feeling hopeful when I read their abundant 5 star reviews, I gave them a call and spoke to Kevin. I took my Macbook Air in after Christmas.
When I got there, I explained the problem. I go to UCI and told them that I needed it fixed by the Dec 30^th, the date I planned to return to Irvine (I was on break and visiting family in the area), and they said it was no problem. They told me they would let me know the cost of repair the next day. They contacted me the same day and told me they had dried out my computer and it turned on – all for only $ 80. It’s ready for pick up the next day! I was ready to add onto their 5 star reviews on Unilocal.
When I came in the next day, I quickly clicked around for a few minutes before I deemed it fixed. I handed them my $ 80 and went on my happy way back home. When I got home, I used my Air and realized that it completely froze 10 minutes in again and again. I called Alice Computerworks and spoke with Kevin. He told me that it was a possible battery problem and to bring it back in.
When I came back to Alice Computerworks, I was first helped by one of their salesman. I told him my situation in which he replied, «It’s probably a system problem. You just need to update it.» I explained that it was never like this before the water damage, but he kept brushing me aside. Finally, Kevin stepped in and told me that he thinks it’s a battery problem. If it is, it’d be a $ 200 fix. I told them to check for it.
I got a call the next day and they told me that they had dried it out again and their technician had played around with it for a few hours with no lag. So they told me I can come back the same day and pick it up. I turned on my laptop and noticed that the battery life was around the same as when I first left it there yesterday. I played around with it for another 5 minutes before it froze again.
The salesman came and blamed me for the lag, «What are you even doing? Our technicians used it for a few hours with no lag and you use it for 5 minutes and it lags.» For one, I doubt they technician used it for that long, seeing how my battery life is practically the same, and two, he shouldn’t be so condescending. He told me that it’s probably a system problem and to leave it. When I asked him when it can be fixed by, because I was leaving on the 30^th, he said that the earliest they can get back to me was the 31^st because their technicians are off until then. I had to cancel my plans in Irvine and stay back in the 626 area.
I had to leave on Dec 31^st, whether my laptop was fixed or not. Steward (I think) called me later that day and told me they had found the problem – the motherboard. It’s an additional $ 500 cost for a new motherboard on top of the initial $ 80 for the first repair. Furthermore, it would take a week to get the piece shipped over to them and another day to install it. I said to to order the piece right away.
I am back in Irvine. It is over a week since I told them to replace the motherboard. They haven’t contacted me. I call and speak with Steward again and ask him for the status of my Macbook Air. He tells me, «It seems here it is a motherboard issue.» I tell him that I know and had told them a week ago to replace it. He pauses and tells me that they will double check if the piece was ordered and if it came in and give me a call in the morning.
The next morning came and I didn’t receive a phone call. So I called them in and asked them if it was ordered or not. I had planned to drive to San Marino that weekend to pick it up. He confirmed that no order was placed and that they had just ordered it last night. He offered to have to laptop shipped to me when the repairs are done and I can pay over the phone.
They text me when it was repaired and asked to text them my address. I did and they gave me a tracking number. When I was tracking it the next day, I was instructed to call the shipper – they had put in the wrong address. I got ahold of Kevin, and his first instinct was to blame me, but checked and realized it was his fault. They apologize and tell me to pick it up from the FedEx it was held, 20 minutes away from where I lived.
Steward sincerely apologized for all the horrors they put me through and promised that they’ll make it up to me next time, but after this, there will NEVER be a next time for Alice Computerworks.
