The Gates Salon and Spa

I always have a great experience at this salon. Found this place over 13 years ago and have been coming here since then.
Arielle is a great stylist who always listens to what I want and does a great job. I always get compliments when I get a cut from her. Even my kids have gotten their haircuts from her and always with great results.
Rosalie is great at her job and offers great advice on which color to go with. She is very detailed and makes sure you are satisfied. Today was my first time with her but it definitely won’t be my last.

I highly recommend Kristine as your choice for skin care at the Gates — esthetician there for the past 5 – 6 years. My personal experience with her is that she is a caring, honest esthetician who truly wants to provide your best experience. She has has post graduate training with Dermalogica and knows her craft. She provides an extremely relaxing and effective treatment and gives appropriate at home skin care recommendations which are very important if you really want results. They offer high quality products at the Gates for your consideration.

First of all, I am NOT a «wealthy socialite type» of person! I am a regular «go to work everyday» gal. That being said, after I have been with Vicki, my hair LOOKS like I am SOMEbody! the color is PERFECT, and while I there, I am treated like a queen! Vicki is a perfectionist, in every good sense of the word!
Additionally, after a friend had a «botched» job at another Pasadena Salon, Vicki consulted and then totally remediated the horrible color and texture!

I have the best colorist working on my hair right now. I naturally have dark brown hair and Rose, nails the blonde… all the time. I’ve been going to her for years and always pressuring her to post more social media but she’s quite modest about her work. She’s an excellent colorist. If you need fire engine red, lavendar purple, cotton candy pink, or platinum blonde she can do it for you. What I love about Rose is that she will tell you what you can achieve and what you can’t for your hair without breaking it. She’s been doing this for years and knows her coloring formula.
The Gates salon is an excellent salon to go to. Everyone is super friendly and attentative. It’s always busy but you can always get an appointment in. The owners and the managers are extremely nice. They’re not afraid to know their customers. I love their customer service as well as the hair products they sell.

I have gone to Banessa ever since I decided to go from my natural brunette to a blonde. Going to her was the best decision I made. My hair was already damaged from previous things I had done to my hair (not with her). and it is also not the best hair to work with (super curly hair), she began the transition and I love it. I couldn’t have put my hair into better hands. I definitely recommend her to my friends or anyone who compliments my hair color.

I’ve never had my hair done here but I do buy shampoo and conditioner here. The girls at the front desk are always really nice too :)

Banessa is still an amazing colorist! I am always so happy when I get to see her and she refreshes my color. It is always a wonderful, natural blonde with highlghts and lowlights. She takes meticulous care in doing her work and I can’t say enough good things about her!

I work on the same street and came in to ask one of the stylist about color and was rudely approached by whom I presumed to be the salon manager. Anyhow the woman yelled at me for walking past the receptionist to talk with the colorist. Just because I was in my work medical scrubs doing a flyer drop for my doctor she presumed something else and treated me like crap and literally kicked me out without letting me get one word in to explain! Would have been nice to have a salon to go to near work but I won’t be coming back since they can’t even treat ppl like human beings!

I have been coming to the Gates Salon for a few years now. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeting from the reception area, offering you ice tea, water, or cappuccino. I have been loyally going to the owner, Michel, to cut and color my hair. The man has magic hands and can take one look at your hair and tell you what’s going to look good on you. Although there are other stylists here that seem very busy with other clientele, I trust myself with no one, other than Michel. He is extremely knowledgeable about hair products, the latest trends, and what is best for your hair. Also, he fully stocks his salon with the best products.
The Spa is full service and also offers manicure, pedicures, massage, wax, facial services. You can spend an entire day here and feel pampered like a queen.
The Gates Salon is my hair heaven.

This is now my third update for The Gates. After a bad experience with my pedicure several weeks ago, the manager, Pam, convinced me to come in and give them another try, with no charge to me. It was like I was at a different salon this time around. The pedicure was great. I had Elisa as my technician, and she did an excellent job. The pedicure was almost an hour and half long, and she took time and attention to give me a fabulous experience. Everything was top notch, and they also included a parafin wax dip, which I love. Elisa also sent me home with a nail file and a mini pumice scrubber to use in the shower. I really appreciate businesses that read their customers reviews and address concerns. Thank you Pam for taking the time to do that, and to invite me back for such a nice experience. I would not hesitate to come back for this service now.

My fiancé was referred to Juliana for highlights and a new color. I told her go ahead and try the place out. I recommend it. She was completely satisfied with the way they were with her. And personally I love her new hair color and highlights. I don’t think my fiancé will ever be going anywhere else other then The Gates from now on. A bit on the dollar side but we’ll worth it. She personally would recommend Juliana for hair color and she also gave my fiancé some advice about products to maintain her hair as we’ll as which was her preference.

I’ve been going here for about 3 years and have always been very satisfied. Seriously, no one touches my hair but Lanette. I may not always look completely put together, but she really works to make me not look homeless (that’s a joke, people!)
My wife has her hair and such done here too, and she’s way pickier than I am. Not cheap, but worth it.

I was referred to Juliana for highlights and I’m now a loyal fan. An experienced Colorist, she consulted with me to get just the right color to complement my skin tone and natural color — she gets it, and is a true professional. Each time I return, I leave happy with her suggestions and the results. I followed Juliana’s recommendations for hair products (she uses them and knows of what she speaks), and my hair is as healthy as it’s ever been… despite the chemical treatments I put it through.
And as if that weren’t enough, the stylists Priscilla and Lanette are pros. Very experienced, careful and never rushed. The entire Gates experience is a winner.

After years and years of waiting I decided to color my hair at the ripe age of 26. Banessa was recommended by a friend so I had high expectations. Not only was she fun to talk to but a complete perfectionist. I felt at ease with her handling my virgin hair and couldn’t think of anyone else making it a better experience.
But wait. there’s more. Once, the color process was complete she turned me over to Gina who is probably the sweetest person on the planet. Gina then cut and styled my hair to add to the new look. I was completely satisfied and even went out on the town to celebrate.
These ladies are amazing and what they do and I am so happy to have found them.

I have been going to the Gates Salon for years. I get my hair, nails, and facials there. I love the customer treatment there They have the best service a person can ask for. I give them five stars!

Received the «split end treatment» from Priscilla and I love it! She’s been cutting my hair for 5+ years and is absolutely fantastic. Her and Banesa (colorist) are my hair team! They are the best!

Banessa is Wonderful! I have very difficult hair to get blonde and she has done it! She consults with you before she starts and really listens to all your concerns. I went through 2 other colorists before her and am finally with someone who can envision my dream and achieve it. Thank you Banessa!

I’ve been going here for years to get my eyebrows waxed by Kristine. Her services are worth every dollar. She waxes my eyebrows better than anyone I’ve ever known. She also gives you a vanity mirror when she’s done to see if you want any adjustments. My eyebrows are very difficult to shape, but Kristine will take her time her design them to perfection. Kristine does not do a rush job. I noticed that rush jobs give me sloppy eyebrows. Kristine is very precise. She is my go-​to person from now on for eyebrows.

I’ve been going to the Gates for over 15 years – ever since my husband told me to find the best salon in town because he was tired of hearing me complain. Gina and Leslie have been cutting my hair over the past 15 years and I always walk out with a cut that is manageable by someone like me – who doesn’t know how to manage a cut at all! I notice that young and old – conservative and trendy/​cool cuts walk out the door all looking terrific. I’ve seen the Gates under the management of two generations of owners – the Bells and now a younger couple headed by master stylist Michel. Both couples were and are dedicated to a place that makes you feel like you’re truly taken care of the way you want it – each time. I highly recommend The Gates.

Absolute perfection. The first time I ever had my hair colored or permed was at the Gates at the tender age of 14. For years afterwards, this has been the go to spot to get something done that no one else can do. It’s certainly pricy, but worth it. Vicky, the head colorist and owner’s daughter, is absolutely a joy. She’s kind, careful, and very knowledgable. She’s also a pretty classy lady. She’s been doing my mom’s hair since about 1993 I think and she’s never had a bad day as far as I can tell. I usually only pop in now a days when I need some serious fixing or I’m scared to let anyone else try something complex on my hair. But I know I’m always in good hands when I come to the Gates.
The salon is upscale, busy all day long, and a great environment. The staff is friendly, you never want for anything bc they’re constantly asking you if you need anything, and offers a wide range of services and products. From hair tools, products, to makeup, you can certainly buy it all here and go home looking awesome. Parking is sometimes difficult but usually I find a spot right out front. This place is just amazing.
