If you have the noble heart to care for others in a healthcare setting, an extensive training that promotes safety is a strict requisite. Here at Careway Health Institute, we provide training programs leading you to become confident, competent and excellent practitioners. Our programs are: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Acute Care Nurse Assistant (Acute CNA), Certified Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) and CPR for Healthcare Providers.
In addition, you can take your CNA state exam and Continuing Education units (for CNAs and HHAs) in our campus.
History
Established in 2013.
Careway Health Institute (CHI), a division of Careway Health Initiatives, Inc. was founded in April 2013, as a private vocational school providing up-to-date training in the nursing and allied health field. The campus is conveniently located in San Mateo, California.
Mission
CHI is a diverse community of caregivers constantly seeking excellence in all things we do and cultivating life as we provide quality care through active learning, advocacy for social justice, and collective empowerment.
General Objective
CHI came into being with one main purpose in mind: To serve the best interest of the caregivers by empowering them through training and education. It is CHI’s goal that as we seek excellence and cultivate lives, we may contribute to more knowledge, positive attitudes, and efficient skills and habits with an end in view of empowering the caregivers for career advancement, job opportunities, financial independence, community service, and collective action.

Executive Director
Rico is a well-qualified education and corporate executive with more than 28 years experience in profit and nonprofit management. He is also known in the community for his health access advocacy and service leadership.
Meryl Ligon-Foz, RN, BSN, MSGC
Programs Director
Having served as nursing executive in various skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, Meryl now enjoys sharing her vast knowledge and experiences to both instructors and students.
