I have studied piano over 14 years; 8 years was with the director’s wife, Marian LaRatta at Crestmont Conservatory of Music. The teachers here have the most patience and discipline with the students, and they all encourage growth and exploration with music. I was not restricted to only classical pieces; I have played modern, rock, and even jazz music. Mrs. LaRatta truly helped form my interests and tastes in music, and she helped nurture me to become who I am today. I improved immensely in my piano performance, theory, and reading after Mrs. LaRatta took me under her wing. Although I did not become a music prodigy, but Crestmont has nurtured many others to go on to perform professonally, become music teachers, and go into the music industry. Every so often the teachers, who some are professional performers, would give a recital, and they are lovely to hear. This place is one of San Mateo’s best kept secrets
