Jason P Lipton, DDS

Having moved 10 times in the last 15 years I must say that Dr. Lipton is the best dentist so far. He’s knowledgeable, laid back, and conservative in his treatment plans. He’s never tried to sell me anything more than what I need, and I leave his office feeling like I was well taken care of, even on my less than pleasant visits. Thanks Dr. Lipton!

Have been going to him for a while now and knew he was great based on my initial experience. However, he has proven to excel as a top notch dentist in technology, quality, delivery, responsiveness and reasonable cost. He gets an A+. He went over and above the call of duty when he also agreed to see me on short notice, once when I had an emergency a day before me and my family were about to leave on a 2 week vacation in mid-​May 2014, and the other just today, when I had a tooth chip unexpectedly. They made time for me and he put a short term fix for me in both instances so that I would be ok till he could schedule me in for the permanent solution/​fix. Very decent, down to earth doctor. What can I say. He is truly the best. My family feels the same way! Thank you Doc!!! Need more people like you on this earth.

The reply made by the Dentist on May 9, 2013 is nowhere close to the phone conversation we had a month earlier. Third party involvement had nothing to do with my overcharges. Now noticed that other «1» ratings have been submitted recently which I believe further validates the direction this office is moving towards now that they have such an obvious overabundance of patients and outrageous appointment backlog. The Dentist told me «there are other good Dentists out there» and with a bit of effort, I found one whose service and dental technology applications are significantly more advanced than this office. So if you’ve experienced the same service/​issues these «1» ratings have shared, you will be better off in the long run to just move on.

I’m new to the area and found Dr Lipton by looking at Unilocal reviews. That was three years ago and I couldn’t be happier. He is one of the best dentists I’ve ever had. He does great work. Recently my dental plan changed but I’ve decided to stay with stay with Dr Lipton simply because I love his approach

I am fairly new to the area and needed to find a new dentist covered by my insurance. I chose Dr. Lipton because of his positive reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience at this dental office. I was given a conclusion about my oral health that was surprising so I decided to get a second opinion of my past dentist who delivered very different information to me. I feel that this dental office has good intentions however, I will not be returning.

I am neurotic about my dental hygiene and have been on a lifetime search for the perfect dentist… and happily, I have finally found him! Dr Lipton is PERFECT and his staff is completely amazing. And since many people share my sentiment, do plan ahead as scheduling can easily take a few months.

Doctor Lipton is AMAZING. I would enroll in any insurance just to be in this office. He is great with patients. Listen to everything. Treat people NICELY. Plus his work is five stars. The only thing is the front office staff are not good on the phone, but they are ok in person.

I am so behind on my Unilocal reviews but once I received a voicemail from Dr. Lipton last night I was so excited I found the prefect dentist I had to sing his praises.
I love going to the dentist and getting my teeth cleaned but it’s Dr. Lipton’s knowledge, understanding, and friendliness that keeps me coming back. I came here the first time several months ago to get a check up and I was so surprised he did ALL the examining and cleaning (What not hygienist?!). He values customer service and wants to start building the dentist-​patient relationship on the first visit.
During my cleaning, he explained every little thing he did («I’m going to be checking your gums and shouting out numbers and it means this.», «you may feel a little pinch now…»). I had to come back a couple months later for a small filling. After each time he drilled through my teeth he would hold out a mirror and ask if I wanted to see what was going on in my mouth. A week after my filling he personally left me a voicemail asking if my filling was fine and if I was feeling any sensitivity. AWESOME follow up!

I just called and the receptionist was a bitch.

Dr Lipton is the best dentist that I have ever been to. The office is nice with a friendly group of people. The staff all seem to be up on the latest technologies and techniques. The music is new and fun — this seems like a funny point to bring up, but most dentists have horrible music. The reason why I am making the effort to give him a positive review is this — I had a filling done and he called me the next day to see how it was. I’ve probably seen over a dozen medical professionals in my life, he is the first that has every called to make sure everything worked out.

I Love Dr. Lipton! I am always scared to go to the dentist but he is awesome and always puts me at ease. He is friendly, personable, and caring. He doesn’t rush and makes sure to explain everything. They have a cool system there to show you your xrays on a computer screen in great detail, instead of the old lighted background xrays from the past.
The staff at the office are friendly and welcoming as well. I always reccomend Dr. Lipton to friends. All in all, the best experience you can ask for at a dental office. Plus, he’s just a cool and nice guy to be around!

This guy is the best kept secret in San Mateo. Does things I never knew dentists were supposed to do. But the lead time needed to get in goes with what you get. Be prepared to book six months out.

Jason’s an extremely good dentist and a cool guy. Office is very clean and unassuming, and the staff is very professional. Over the few years I’ve been going to him for my dental needs, I’ve seen him make significant investments in his business with new equipment and technology in order to make the experience better for his patients. Indeed, I was so relaxed during my last visit that I napped *while* he was working away!
One of the things I really respect about Jason is that he doesn’t recommend any work that you don’t need — his honesty and professionalism is completely apparent and believable even on the first visit. When I first went to see him he could have easily suggested the progressive, regular removal of some of my old fillings. Instead, he observed that while the fillings were old, they were done well and he was comfortable just keeping an eye on them for as long as needed.
Coincidentally, he happens to live in the same neighborhood as I do and is active in the community, recently helping to sponsor our 4^th of July parade! Just a small example of the «cool» factor that several folks have written about.
By the way, I’ve had a couple of good dentists retire on me, forcing me to go through the hassle of finding a new doc — Jason’s probably around 40, meaning he’s going to be my dentist (and yours) for a *long* time.

What a Relief! I have no intrinsic fear of dentists just very little trust since a year ago I went to visit a dentist that informed me that I need $ 15,000 worth of dental work in order to restore my mouth to a healthy condition. After consulting with a friend, who’s a dentist in LA, I ran out of that dentists office.
Yesterday, I went for my first visit to Dr. Lipton’s. He quickly developed a prioritized plan that addressed my dental needs, that was conservative in nature, i.e. saving my orignal teeth rather than capping every old filling. His approach is not only good for the health of my mouth, but also for the health of my wallet.
He’s also very relaxed and gentle. I’m glad I’ve found a new competent, trustworthy and freindly dentist.

I was never scared of going to a dentist… I love needles actually, not in a nutty freaky way. Anyways he will take his time with you. He is very caring, gentle, and very personable. He’s very laid back and cool! He has great radio station on so it’s not so boring during ur exam… He will hum to a song once in a while… The staff are the best! Super nice. I love this office!!!

I’m overjoyed to find a dentist that isn’t bullshiting me for money.

I first went to Dr. Lipton about a month ago. I hadn’t been to a dentist in a very (very) long time. I actually used Unilocal to help me figure out who I should go to. I knew I had some work to be done so pain (specifically trying to minimize it) was most important to me.
I talked to Dr. Lipton prior to him checking everything and he was very understanding about my concerns. He did a very thorough job checking and getting everything cleaned. There was one issue that he said needed to be addressed and he walked me through multiple options about what to do.
I was very pleased and I will definitely will be back. I highly recommend calling way in advance to get an appt it took a couple of months from the time I called until I could get in but it was worth the wait.

Friendly accomodating staff is just the first thing that caught my attention about Dr. Lipton’s office.
I’ve had 4 different dentists before him and have had difficult time trusting dentists. dont ask.
But when I first went in, the cleanliness was top notch. The state of the art tools also impressed me too.
When I went in for just one cavity, he actually took the time to check each and every tooth with this new tool that allows him to see the density of the enamel. By doing so, he could foresee where other cavities lie down deep and told me what I could to slow their growth.
Top notch for sure. Don’t trust your teeth with anyone else!

UPDATE: so I finally made my appt. and Dr. Yoo was GRRRREAT! She so laid back and makes you feel relaxed while she’s working on your teeth. She’s also informative about what’s going to happen during the procedure and after you get home. You’ve got to try her!
update: he sooooo not available for months. they asked me if i could switch over to another dentist. which i accepted and i was glad. she turned out to be more suitable for my dental taste.
Update: from 5 stars to 4 stars. CALL AHEAD. When I called to set up an appt for cleaning, there wasn’t anything available for 3 months.
friendly dentist who rather be called by his first name than «doctor so and so». he’s got a sense of humor too. he explained and kept me informed throughout the procedure which i appreciated very much because i usually have a lot of questions whenever i’m at a doctor’s office.

I was very impressed by Dr. Lipton. I came to Unilocal for dentist-​hunting assistance, and found high reviews. I just had my appointment, and I was very pleased.
He takes his time to explain important dental health issues (why the tooth decay is occurring, how well your current care techniques are working, etc.) — without wasting your time.
I’m very satisfied with selecting him as a dentist, and look forward to using him from this point forward.
