I just moved out of state and am so sad to have lost my Super Stylist Team of Vegy and Marisa :(Seriously, so sad. I cried at my last appointment, cried like a family member had just died. The receptionist did not know what to do with me, and then I had to start laughing, realizing that I looked like a crazy person.
Anyways! I was seeing Vegy for color and Marisa for hair cuts for almost 4 years. Once I found them, I never went anywhere else. I usually came in with a new color idea every year or so, and it was always what Vegy had just done to her hair! Made it very easy to say, «yep, just give me your hair color again» :) I have dark hair with a lot of wirey, «stubborn» grays, and always came out of there looking like a million bucks. Dark brown, auburn, highlights, root touch ups — everything was always perfect. The ONE time I thought the color was too dark, I realized it was the lighting, because when I went home I loved the color.
While Vegy was out on maternity leave, I saw Jamie for my color and would also recommend her. Same great results!
Marisa is a whiz with the sizz (scissors). Please ignore that horrible joke and keep reading. I changed my color more than my cut over the years, but the couple times I came in with magazine clippings, I left looking exactly like the picture. I also started bringing my 3 yr old daughter for cuts with Marisa, because of her crazy curly hair. She LOVED going to Mommy’s salon, and she finally got the right cut for her type of hair.
Apart from being really good at their jobs, I always looked forward to my appointments with them to just chat and catch up. They are both so nice and funny, it was like going out with girlfriends every 5 – 6 weeks, but at the end of our night out, I had awesome hair.
The ONE thing that irked me at first about the salon, but I got over quickly, was having to dry my own hair if I was only getting it colored. I had never experienced that before moving to CA, but now see that it’s common place at many salons. Vegy always gave me great products to use upstairs, and I usually just did a quick 5 – 10 min dry, so no big deal.
FYI — you can’t add tip to your CC payment, but there is an ATM at the US Bank across the street.
Also — you can order from the sandwich place next door and they will bring it over to the salon for you! This was great the couple times I was running late and hadn’t had lunch before my 2 pm appointment :)

Gina is an AMAZING stylist! She has done my extensions and color for a few years now and I can honestly say that my hair is exactly how i want it every single time I go in for a touch up. All I need to do is show her a picture and describe what I want, and she knows! It always turns out beautiful and I am so thankful to have found her. Not only does she have the skills, but also a great personality! I look forward to coming in and having Gina color my hair because of her vast knowledge and how she really listens to what I want. Another plus is that she is always ON TIME! i never have to wait and she does a fabulous job taking care of me. I just had to post as I am always receiving compliments on my hair and need to make it known that Gina is the best! :) Thank you Gina and L Salon!

I have been getting my hair cuts from Leann for 7+ years! She is the best!!! Amazing, sweet, flexible, and talented. She really takes the time to make sure you feel comfortable with the overall experience and with the final product. I always look forward to our appointments because we have a good time catching up or just having random conversations; she remembers things we’ve spoken about in the past which is very endearing and shows me that she cares and is engage. While waiting, I have also seen her style other clients for events — beautiful styling. I do not trust anyone else with my hair. LOVE her.
I also brought a friend to L salon for color. Based on Leann’s recommendation, we went with Mary. My friend was really happy with the turn out. She was initially anxious because she has dark Asian hair and wanted to lighten it up with some blonde but was worried about it looking orange/​copper — that did not happen. Mary’s and Leann’s stations are right next to each other and it’s so fun!

I love love love my colorist Gina at L salon. She knows what to do with my hair. She is a profesional. I’m very picky with my hair that’s why I can recommend her with my eyes close. Very friendly and very knowledge person. I can write more and more about her but there will be no space haha but the only thing I can say she is the best of the best.

I am lucky enough to have Vanessa as my colorist for a few years now! She is AMAZING — her colors are always perfect & she takes the time to help me find the best tones that work with my skin colors. Really talented, her work with balayage is impressive, which is additionally fun since she is also French, fashionable, and knows what is fashionable for your hair. The balayage treatments always earn me compliments galore. Always a fabulous color, every single time!!!

I am happy to have found Vanessa at L Salon. She’s such a rare gem! I’ve had many colorists over the years, but one like Vanessa is hard to find!
What makes her stand out?
She takes the time to listen to what you want, listens to every detail, and then meticulously makes sure the results are what you want. Her demeanor makes you feel instantly comfortable, and comfortable throughout the process.
Her technique is precise and I’d even go as far as to say that she’s a perfectionist; which is what you want when it comes to coloring your hair (especially blonde)! I have never received so many compliments on my color as I do now.
She’s never pushed unnecessary products on me, in fact the products she has ever recommended to me have made a huge difference in the health of my hair and I use them religiously now.
Another notable mention is that not only cares about your hair, she cares about you, and it shows! It feels like you’re seeing a good friend every time you book with Vanessa. Her presence and friendliness makes getting your hair done feel like a spa day with a friend; the rare type friend who listens very well. Every time I see Vanessa — I feel better than I did when I came in.
Lastly, she never over books, which unfortunately a lot of stylists have done with me and we all know how frustrating that can be.

Vanessa and Noël are seriously the best! I wanted to change my hair for summer (more blonde and shorter) and they gave me everything I wanted and more! I get so many compliments on my color and cut. I love coming into L salon, everyone is so friendly. I am moving to LA but will still fly back to see Vanessa and Noël for color and cut. Love them so much!

This place is amazing and so are the people. I heard about it through a friend who gave me a gift certificate for it so I decided to check it out. I had long straight hair and it was time for a change, so Lenny help me do that. I told him exactly what I wanted and he delivered. He gave me lots of good tips and he was very professional and excellent in what he did… so a few months pass by and again, I had a gift certificate for $ 30 off my next visit to experience a service they offered that I’ve never done before. I took advantage of it and wanted to color my hair. It’s been about 13 or so years since I’ve had color in my hair so I was definitely excited. This time, Danielle was able to help me. her expertise was in coloring. I basically showed her a picture of what I wanted that I got off the internet and she did it to the T! I applause L Salon and their professionalism and helpfulness. They’re all trained the same way so everyone is on the same page which trickles down to excellence. 5 stars all the way!

Thank you Danielle Marovich for my amazing color. She was so patient and professional and gave me great suggestions! She is a true artist with an amazing eye for color. She explained what she was doing and why she was doing it. Not only do I have amazing hair, I also received an education as well! I highly recommend this adorable young lady. I would also like to Thank Ozzy for my new short and sassy haircut! You listened to what I wanted and gave great suggestions for my hair! You are a wizard with your hair scissors! My hair feels great and it has cut my time in half doing my hair! The two of you artists are a great team! Everyone at the salon was warm and welcoming! They made me feel like I was part of their little family! I definitely recommend this salon!

I decided to visit this place due to all the amazing reviews that were written for Veggy and this ended up being my favorite salon. The staff are all very friendly and know exactly what they’re doing. Veggy was exceptionally great and did not even damage my hair. Very happy with the results and will definitely visit again.

My go-​to colorist expert is Veggy. I’ve been going to her since she’s been an apprentice, and she has never failed to give my hair a natural, flattering color, that enhances my personal style and cut. She uses the French Balayage application on my highlights, which always look natural and shiny.
If you would like your hair color to turn out right, and make you look your very best, go to a professional — that’s Veggy!

I came here while on vacation with my family and decided to try this place out and it was amazing! Veggy, whose actual name is Vergineh, was the only reason I came here as I heard great things about her and they weren’t wrong. She did magic to my virgin hair, which changed my appearance for the better and I am now obsessed! Found my new favorite salon! I went in for a Kerastase fusion dose treatment. Janelle did the treatment. I got there a few minutes before my appointment time and she came and got me from the waiting area right on my appointment time.
I was so relaxed from the moment she started the treatment. Once she was done I could not believe that it was my hair. It was the softest I have felt it in years. It’s as if she put life right back into my hair, which is not easy to do.
Thank you L Salon and thank you Janelle. I will definitely be back for the treatment and more.

I’ve been seeing Mary now for over 7+ years — almost surreal. She’s pretty much seen me and my family as we all grew up: P
Mary cuts and colors my hair. And she is absolutely amazing! She knows exactly how I want my hair cut, in fact, I don’t even need to tell her anymore. I trust her completely and know I’ll love everything she does to my hair.
In terms of coloring, I’ve pretty much pushed her boundaries — from normal browns to crazy colors such as flaming red or my current — silvery white. I have stubborn asian hair and I know that it turns orange when bleached. But Mary handled the color great, such that she cooled my orange-​yellow tones. And she’s very serious about her work — she thinks through it all and checks with you each time to make sure you are completely satisfied with her work. I would recommend her 100% if you want amazing colors while keeping your hair healthy as well!

In addition, recently, I also added extensions to give my hair volume. Leanne helps by taking out and putting in my extensions prior and post my hair cut/​color. Both her and Mary are such sweethearts and we always have fun the 3 – 4 hours I’m there, gossiping and just chatting the day away! Leanne also helps Mary out when she has free time and I think that’s amazing. Such great friendships! I’me envious :)
I’ve also had Leanne cut my hair in the past and she does an amazing job. In fact, I would say every stylist here at the salon is completely professional and will do an amazing job. But I would personally say, visit Mary and Leanne! You’ll have an absolute blast with them :)

Just had hair cur from Lenny Chiang, have to say that he is very nice and patient. He never disappoint me since i met him, because sometimes is could be hard to explain the style you really want your hair to be, but he alway brings my imagination come true~ he is amazing, come here and meet him now~

I strongly suggest L salon and color group I get my hair done by Janelle Prado very friendly and great person all around this salad n is pricy but you get what you pay for a GREAT JOB, ask for Mary if you need the best hair cut I’m so picky about my hair cuts but she brings my hair back to life … This is one of the only salons I know of that uses kerastase products which leaves your hair feeling soft and healthy, if you are ever in the sam Mateo area looking for a new salon stop by L salon ask for Janelle Prado

While I would trust any of the beautiful people in L with my hair, this review is for Mary O’Rourke. I don’t want to understate however the amazing work all the stylists seem to always do. I’ve been going to Mary for a few years now so I’ll let you do the math :) Every time I go in, mid-​week or otherwise, they are packed with guys and gals.
So on to Mary… Well maybe I should start with myself. I’m a 30-​something year old dude who has gone through two style transformations since first going into L salon. I am a super picky brat when it comes to my do. I am the kid who went away to college in Upstate NY and grew my hair to my shoulders because I wouldn’t trust anyone out there. I used to go to diPietro Todd on Palo Alto when I lived in Menlo Park and than their San Francisco salon. Also had my own stylist in San Carlos in between. NO ONE COMES CLOSE TO MARY’S SKILLS.
When I first met Mary I was going from a single socialite with a low level sales gig to an engaged enterprise sales professional. Mary knew exactly what to do.
Keep in mind, this is not some $ 30 haircut you’ll get from your neighborhood barber. You pay for what you get at L Salon and especially with Mary. She’s been in the game for a decade and you can certainly tell.
If you’re looking for an amazing haircut, wash, color or probably some stuff I’ve never heard of from a beautiful young dude or chick, look no further.

I’ve been looking for a salon to go to and my friend has been coming here for years so she suggested I try it out.
Seriously, if you are looking for quality work with quality service, go to L Salon & Color Group… See Danielle for color and Lenny for cut.
I came in with super long previously ombré’d asian hair which can be very difficult to work with. Danielle looked at it and asked me specifically what I wanted. I explained to her I wanted similar to what I had, ombré, but with balayage highlights that were more of a natural brown tones as opposed to blonde. She asked me more questions about what I wanted so that we’d be sure I got what i wanted. Lenny came over and asked what I wanted as far as a cut and they both talked about what would work best for me which I LOVED! There is definitely a lot of really good communication here.
Danielle worked with my hair and was very talkative, but not overly talkative which was great. She washed my hair and sent me over to Lenny, and even though we had already discussed what i wanted, he asked again. We talked more about what would look best and since I have so much weight in my hair (it being very thick and all) he said it would be best to take off some of the weight. He cut my hair exactly how I wanted! He really took the time to check every snip he made. He sent me back to Danielle and she added the toner and washed out my hair. She brought me upstairs to dry it and gave me such pretty waves. As I was walking out, Lenny stopped me and looked at my hair from every angle to make sure that the end product was perfect.
The environment is very clean and so friendly. Other stylists were walking by and making really nice comments to Danielle about her work and to me about how healthy my hair was. This really makes for a great experience.
I will definitely come back!

I am 22 years old and had «virgin hair» and decided to go to Lauren with the recommendation of my coworkers. I showed Lauren a picture and she made it even better than the original photo. I have very thick dark brown (almost black) course hair. She explained the pros and cons of what I wanted and told me step by step what would happen. She was very knowledgable and professional and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Ultimately, she gave a sombre of blue and green and purple colors. So good! I am in love! You’ll be seeing me again, Lauren!!!

It’s been three years since my first visit to L Salon and I must say they still continue to be the absolute best!
I have been seeing Vanessa for all of my hair color needs since writing my first review. She is the only person I would trust with hair color and color correction. Vanessa is an experienced pro and knows how to achieve any type of color you could imagine. I have brought her many photos with various color combos/​color types and she has never disappointed. If your color idea will not flatter you she will let you know and suggest a better option.
As for haircuts I have to give a rave review for Ozzie! I decided to give him a try for a cut a few visits ago and I must say he is quite gifted. I first learned of him when he did a blow dry for me (by the way the most perfect styling of my hair that I have ever had). He does a beautiful job and really knows what cut will best suit your face shape and style.
I’m pretty sure I have found my dream team at L Salon and I won’t be making any changes to this anytime soon! I would also like to acknowledge the front desk and salon assistants. They are ALL great, I have never had a bad experience. They are all very welcoming and want to make your experience as positive as possible.
Today while I was there I saw the owner (I’m pretty sure about this) training one of the salon assistants and I was so impressed by this. She is an owner that truly cares about her business and is willing to do «the little things» and to get her hands dirty. This clearly explains why every single one of her employees is so amazing, they have an incredible leader! Keep up the excellent work L Salon!
