Yes, I’ve been here. This place CLOSED2 years ago. Just FYI. The restaurant was named for a popular Peruvian fruit ice cream.

Ok, the food here is pretty good, it tastes like peruvian/chilean home cooking. Typical dishes, basic. Nothing extraordinary if you know how good real Peruvian food can be. Pricy also unless you go at lunch and just order the special, which normally never sounds appetizing… Lady who serves in the place also always looks like she is clinically depressed and wants to kill herself… not a happy person. Ambiance is nice though, parking is difficult. The Lucuma ice cream is delicious!

Been coming here since they opened, owner’s brother owns another Peruvian place out in Redwood City, I don’t quite remember the name. They had recently expanded by taking over the place next door and knocking the wall down. I love their Loma Saltado in beef or chicken. Its a sauteed beef or chicken with onions and fries over rice. I think they use a soy sauce base as Peruvian food has a lot of Asian influences. I also really enjoy their bbq beef heart and fried chicken appetizer. The beef heart is hard to find in many restaurants as it does have a really strong beef taste. They marinate it very well and it is bbqed on the grill served in 2 skewers. The chicken isn’t all that special, just 5 – 6 pieces that are lightly breaded, fried to perfection, and served with a lemon juice sauce. I have also tried their ceviche, which is a bit on the tangy side. Their chicken soup is a little on the bland side but well prepared in a homemade sort of way. My friends enjoy their chicken fried rice, which again has really similar traits as Chinese fried rice, a little on the greasy side. One thing you have to get with any meal is their very spicy chili green sauce, I’m not too sure what its called or whats in it, but its out of this world. They usually serve it with the bread in lieu of butter, but I ask for a huge bowl of it as I love it with my appetizers and entrees. Overall great value for what you get. The quantity is good and enough to bring back home for another meal. I highly recommend it for people who want to try something new. It’s unlike most South American dishes as most people would assume, its much more like Asian cuisine than one would imagine.

John and I felt like trying something new– this was our first time going Peruvian. Staff was friendly, but fthe place was empty. Lucky for us, no waiting. We ordered the calamari(too salty), the bistek, and the chicken/andean potato stew over rice. Portions were big, but bistek and chicken didn’t have enough kick. Also, I think the plantains were missing from their bistek dish. Last order of the night perhaps? They had Inca Kola– looks like Mellow Yellow, tastes like cream soda.

I wandered into this Peruvian place with a date by accident, and it was an awesome find. It’s not small, but is a cozy place. Our waiter didn’t speak fluent English, but we didn’t have any problems ordering, and she was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We got one of the ceviches to start with, and I had the bistek a lo pobre and I forget what he had, but it was *all* yummy. Go eat and enjoy!
