Emily is the best. I’ve been her loyal customer for many years and through many hairstyles, cuts, and colors. Today was my wedding day and my hair stayed perfect all day long. Many thanks Emily!

Never, ever again. A friend recommended Julie, but she wasn’t taking on any new clients and she redirected me to Kathy. My instructions: two-three inches shorter, keep it long enough so I can still curl my hair as I am accustomed to. My fault for trusting the stylist. She axed it. It was the kind of many-layered hairstyle that looks passable if you spend an hour blowdrying + straightening + styling it, but if you wash it without any treatment, it exploded into a bushy mess, especially with my stereotypical thick Asian hair. I’m very disappointed. I should have known better than to try to find a good«cheap» hair salon. Never again. Next time I’m going to bite the bullet and go to an expensive Japanese salon in the city. 100 dollars is worth my peace of mind and not cringing every time I see myself in the mirror.

I can’t recall her name but that women gave me a haircut that I didn’t ask for. I never told her a bob hair cut. I told her how much I wanted cut bc I had split ends and she said just below your shoulders and I said yes! I had long hair I never said give me a short look. When I looked up and then I saw the disaster I straight up told her I didn’t like it! If she ment to cut just like she showed she went way shorter! I will never be coming back I payed at the end bc I didn’t want to leave in a bad way! Worst hair cut I ever got you can come here if you want a messed up hair!

I got my hair cut a few weeks ago by Jenny. Her work is amazing. I have fine hair and usually can’t get any shape out of it. Fortunately, I walked in that day, in need of a trim. She gave me a cut that I can stylishly maintain with nearly no effort. I highly recommend her, especially if you have Asian hair, like myself. She knows how to work it !

Tiffany is the best for a wash and style. She’s fast and my hair always lools great and lasts all weekend. You cant beat the price either.

Cheap and fast — I like how they wash the hair at the end at no cost.

I love this hair salon because of Kathy. She gives great blowouts and is very accommodating. Every time she dries my hair(which is a lot), I get many compliments. If you are looking for a good price for a blow-dry, call Kathy at Mayfair. :)

Thank you, Jean! I love my hair cut. You cut it exactly how I wanted it. Light trim with layers. So happy I found a stylist that listens and doesn’t chop off all your hair. Jean was super friendly and sweet! Oh did I mention price is very afforable. I will def be back again.

This is my goto store for my haircut. As an Asian guy with stiff hair, finding a good haircut is so so hard since many non-Asian hair stylists cannot cut Asian hair properly. Everything needs to be super even(dare I say meticulous) in order for an Asian haircut to look good. Asian hair is unforgiving because if you make a mistake, it’s hard to fix on short hair. Most all of Mayfair’s folks have been around for 10+ years, are Chinese-Vietnamese. I think the whole shop is great value for money. My goto person is Wen(only Fri & Sat). She does a great job at being detail oriented and understands my stiff hair well. Also, I love the Asian style shampoo w/head massage. I still think it’s relatively cheap for $ 18 haircut and shampoo(without tip).

We’ve been going to this place for over a year now, having switched from a competitor down the street(who is extremely nice and all, but wouldn’t take appointments and charges a few dollars more). The men in the family are very content with the cuts, the daughter not so much. Granted, daughter and I have naturally wavy hair(uncommon in Asians) and many people don’t know how to cut it so as to coax out the best waves.

I have gotten my long, straight hair cut here 3 times in the last year, each time by a different person. I’ve been happy with each one! The ladies like to chat and ask questions, but that’s what makes this a popular neighborhood spot. I saw a lot of older clients getting their hair permed, trimmed and colored. This last time, they didn’t book an hour for me, and I arrived a few minutes late, but Jean still did a thorough and unrushed job. I don’t know if I’ll ever get a perm, but I do plan on being a regular here.

I found this place is full of very unfriendly and arrogant people. They wiped out my appointments made a day before and argue that since there is no appointment made, I will have to wait for indefinite time. When pointing to their register, it can be clearly seen that someone has wiped out that line. There is no apology at all. Instead I found rude behavior from the attendant. They lost me as their customer for ever for sure.

I got my hair cut here on Thursday hoping for a men’s fade($ 16) I got my hair cut, shampooed, and gelled. I went home that night for a family birthday dinner for my niece and everyone was laughing at the quality of my hair. In the back it was very uneven, long hairs all around. I went in the next day to get it fixed and felt like they tried to fix it quickly and rush me out. I apologize, I didn’t get the name of the barber. I won’t be returning!

So many people asked me where I got my great cut! It’s Emily at Mayfair! She’s hard to book, make sure call a month ahead… I’d been going there for years, she always gave me a great cut! Thx

I am very disappointed with my hair cut at this place. The owner Kathy wasn’t helpful in recommending an hair stylist when I walked in. She refused to recommend anyone. I assume she gets a cut on anybody who does the job there, but with a disappointed customer like me, she will never get a cut from my visit again. Not a smart move. If you really want to try this place, do some research on who is a good one. Random picks at this place doesn’t work.

The staff here is efficient and gets the job done well for a very reasonable price. As an Asian guy who’s not looking to spend a lot($ 16) and just wants a «good enough» cut(no shampoo), I haven’t found a better place. Now the best cut I ever got was at FSC Barbers in West Village NYC(great recommendation from my pastor at The River), but that was $ 40. Anyway, people at Mayfair are nice, which I appreciate. They can be busy, so call ahead to set up an appointment. And it’s good that they have a parking lot in the back — I wouldn’t advise trying to parallel park on busy El Camino Real.

Get Emily. She’s the owner and the best. I always call months in advance just so I can get her on specific dates I want. My hair is really fine and straight. This means my hair gets weighed down and becomes FLAT without layers. However, having too many layers makes it thin and shaggy! Emily knows what to do with this, and her cutting techniques make it easy to do my hair without needing much product or styling in the morning. The haircuts I get usually grow out nicely too. They don’t rush through shampooing and conditioning your hair before the haircut — I appreciate that, and the head massage is nice. I knocked off one star because scheduling can be difficult — but that’s the tradeoff for someone who listens to what you’re looking for and gives you a style that suits your hair. Also, this isn’t a «spa-like» place as some people may prefer for salons, though I personally don’t mind! This is my go-to place. By the way, it’s cash only here.

Went in for trim and highlights. Got all over dye I didn’t ask for, and highlights that were so poorly done they leaked into other pieces, making my hair look horizontally striped. Got 3 inches chopped in «layers», when I asked for no more than ½ inch trim all the way around. My stylist’s friend came in, so instead of finishing washing my hair, she left me there for 30 min to cut his. The blow out looked ok, but later that night I cried.

My mom and I have been coming here for the past few years to have our hair cut by Tiffany, and she’s always done a nice job at cutting and styling it exactly how I want it done regardless of whatever condition my hair is in when I walk in the door. And trust me, over the years I have done a bunch of interesting things to my hair(bleached, dyed purple, dyed magenta, dyed brown, etc), but she’s always been patient and careful in making sure it looks great when I walk out the door. The place is a small, typical Vietnamese-run salon in a convenient location with a great, low price. It’s only $ 25(+tip) for wash, cut, dry and straightening of my long frizzy hair, and Tiffany does a good job in a timely manner! I have never had a problem booking an appointment with her with only a day’s notice regardless of the day of the week. The salon is clean, small, and simple, and all the staff seem pretty friendly regardless of the slight language barrier. Parking can be a bit tough during mealtimes since Silver House is right next door so try to make an appointment during alternate hours, and look for a spot in their little back lot first!
