Dr. Glafkides is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Hand Surgeon who is dedicated to the overall health and well being of his patients. Of Greek decent, his philosophy is based on the Greek word Arête, which stands for excellence in performance, good character and personal virtue. Dr Glafkides is known for his attention to detail in his work. He sets realistic expectations for patients and works towards achieving the best possible results based on their desired outcome and what is physically realistic.
History
Established in 1990.
His extensive training includes graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in 1978 and completing his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School in 1982. He performed his general surgery training at the University of San Diego Medical Center from 1983 — 1986, and plastic surgery training at St Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco from 1986 – 1989. He continued his studies in reconstructive microsurgery and plastic surgery as part of a fellowship with the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia from 1989 — 1990.

Being a breast cancer survivor allows me to share first-hand what to expect with being a patient of Dr. Michael Glafkides. Thankfully, he was my Reconstructive Surgeon and he did a beyond excellent job!
10 years later, I am lucky enough to work as his Patient Coordinator and help newly diagnosed women get through the process and feel empowered.
