Mills-Peninsula Health Services

Just came back from my appointment at Mills-​Peninsula Travel Medicine Clinic and am very satisfied with my experience. Since I was paying out of pocket, I did a bit of research to determine where the cheapest place would be to get the needed prescriptions for my upcoming travel, and Mills-​Peninsula was the winner. The travel clinic is located within the health center, which has 3-​hour free parking in their on-​site parking structure with validation which was easy to obtain upon arriving at the reception desk.
I arrived early for my appointment, and after checking in was called in shortly after, which was nice because I was called in earlier than my originally scheduled appointment. Once in the office, I was helped by Christina, who was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about verifying what I would need for my travel, and laying out different options for me to take. She gave me the pros and cons for each medication, and didn’t try pushing any unnecessary immunizations. The prices for the immunizations there are right in line with everywhere else I called around. I decided to purchase my typhoid immunization there because she was not able to provide me a prescription for that (I would have to go through my primary care doctor, which I didn’t want to bother with). For everything else I needed, she recommended I try Costco, which was sound advice because it turns out Costco is cheaper than everywhere else I called! Christina made sure I had no more questions or concerns before I left, and even provided me her card to call in case I thought of questions later.
I would definitely recommend this Mills-​Peninsula location to anyone who has travel clinic needs!

I am writing as a guest. The new hospital is overwhelmingly big, and beautiful. I was only on the first floor for a short while to attend a meeting hosted by my local APIC chapter. If you are in a hurry, I do not advise trying to score parking in the multi-​level garage; you will definitely be better off leaving your car in the hands of the complimentary valet. (I spent the better part of an hour searching for an open spot). Besides perhaps inadequate parking for such a large demand, I was greeted by a very helpful volunteer staff in a beautiful facility!

My mother-​in-​law was a patient in the acute rehab unit after her leg amputation. She received much needed teaching to help her as her journey unfolded. The location allowed our family to participate and keep her spirits up. The teaching was for us too. This is a vital community service. The Acute rehab is moving to CPMC Campus next year. A sub acute rehab will be in the skilled nursing facility by the hospital. This will affect the family centered care for our patients.
