I ordered a 15yd debris box for $ 355 for some construction debris my contractor needed to dump after redoing one of our bedrooms. The box came as promised, real early in the am, and the loading begun. To our surprise, we didn’t even fill half of the bin. Unfortunately, people/​neighbors see half an empty bin, and decide that they too can dump their trash in it. I wish a cover of some sort, was provided, to avoid random trash appearing in your uncovered bin. Any who, I didn’t really worry about the additional trash that was not ours, since the gentlemen on the phone said just fill it up, when I asked what kind of debris could be put in the bin. I contacted Peninsula Debris to come pick it up and the pick up was great as was the delivery. To my surprise, I see an additional charge of $ 83.70 on my debit card a few days later. I contacted the company and was advised that since I signed the receipt for when the box was delivered, there was nothing they could do as in the fine print on the receipt, it states that there may be additional fees charged later. I couldn’t believe it! I was totally baited and switched. I have no complaint as far as their drop off and pick up of bins, that went better than I anticipated. I just wish when I booked the bin, I would have been advised of the potential «additional fees». I clearly asked the gentleman on the phone what can be dumped in the bin, and was advised «Anything, fill it up». That would have been a perfect time for him to let me know that even if the bin isn’t full, they will go by weight and there’s a chance you could be over their weight allotment and incur additional fees. I’m not one to write reviews, but I really felt taken on this transaction and just want to warn future clients to read the fine print, even if it’s 6am and you’re in your pajamas.

Price was good but they damaged my home when picking up their box which fell off the truck as one person attempted to load it. After 3 days of getting the runaround I submitted a claim with my own insurance company. They finally paid for the damage via small monthly payments. Not very impressive.

Our family needed a debris box in Foster City to clean out the parents house and yard. I called on a Tuesday to have it delivered on the following Friday – it was scheduled without issue. I called two other companies before Peninsula; one was a voicemail service and the other couldn’t provide a box the same week. I met the driver at the house; he was friendly enough and put the 30 yard box precisely where I asked him to. We spend the weekend filling it, but it was still half empty Sunday night. I called Peninsula Monday morning asking them to delay pickup until Wednesday – they said no problem. Neighbors and the family used the extra time to fill up the box and it was picked up full on Wednesday. It was a good experience with them all the way around. I would definitely use them again. We paid with Visa over the phone.

I have used their boxes several times for general household clean ups and they have been great. I got the box in the time frame they promised, and they picked it up pretty quickly after i called to tell them it was full. I did get an extra charge for it being heavy, but they had told me about an overweight cost when I ordered so i understood that going in. I will continue to use them and recommend them to friends

I didn’t do business with them but on 06.11.14 a truck from this company was littering 101 south bound around (Palo Alto to 85S) 12:15 p.m. with some small hard particles and the driver was like a maniac switching lanes. I got a chip on my windshield and am sure numerous other cars were also affected. Check their website and there is mention of them caring for your neighbors! Why don’t they have some sense to not be so careless. This company’s driver’s behavior was deplorable. With the number of people affected due to this company’s truck that day I would question their respect for others. Spend your dollars somewhere else.

This was my first time using any debris box service. I originally was hesitant of using this company b/​c of some bad reviews that said they randomly charge and also overcharge. I even expressed my concern to the woman on the phone, but she said she actually dealt with the one bad review herself and insisted this was not a usual case.
I ended up ordering the 15 cubic yard box for some construction waste. It was $ 355 normally, but with a $ 25 web coupon, for a total of $ 330.
The delivery of the box itself was great! They gave us a three-​hour window and just made it at the tail end, but made it nonetheless. When I was done, I left a voice message on Sunday that they could pick up ASAP and on Monday morning, they were there taking it away. So from that perspective, I thought it was really good. (The folks on the phone — which by the way vary each time I called — aren’t overly friendly, but weren’t outright rude either, so all in all, what I expected and was pleased.)
However, then I got the bill and that’s where I got a bit frustrated. First, I get a Paid invoice for a total of $ 355, not the $ 330 I was quoted. I almost let it go, too lazy to call, BUT then I look on my credit card statement and what do I see? Like other reviews, I had a separate, unknown charge (for $ 66). If i didn’t look at my statements, I’d never had known. What is this for? I finally called and the woman said that 1) they forgot to give me the discount (so she would credit $ 25 — thanks), and 2) that I went over my weight limit and that was the difference. What frustrated me wasn’t that I got charged for exceeding the weight (if that’s the case), it’s that you should let your customer know you are about to charge their card. They sent a paid invoice for the original order — why wasn’t the overweight info on that as well? Or why didn’t they send a separate overweight «paid» invoice with proof of the weight from the junk yard? I didn’t see anything. Was it really over? I’m not sure. It was full of wood with a small amount of brick, which based on the description shouldn’t have gone over. But if it did… that’s fine. I’m okay paying. Proactively let me know you’re going to charge me, and give me a receipt with the proof. That’s all. It would have prevented the frustration.
And that’s why the 3-​stars. The box service itself was pretty good, but the invoicing experience was annoying. (If the billing went smoothly with proof and receipts, I’d probably rate this higher.) Would I use them again? Perhaps. But I think I’ll try Redwood Debris Box Service next for comparison.

I was so happy with my experience with Peninsula Debris Box Service. Michele was so professional and courteous and addressed all of my needs. The driver showed up as promised to drop the box off and showed up on time when my contract was up. I had many questions during the time the box was at my residence, and Michele could not have been more helpful to me as a first time debris box renter. I would highly recommend Peninsula Debris Box to anyone looking for this type of service.

Got my debris box within a half hour of ordering. The person on the phone was friendly and helpful deciding the box size which was right for me and they were spot on. No issues with anything these other had. Definitely not my experience. The delivery was smooth and put it exactly where I needed it. Not sure how often I’d need another box, but they will get my business if I do. Thanks.

I searched and searched for an inexpensive concrete debris box and these folks were by far the cheapest. I completed the on-​line form, they responded and more importantly the box was delivered right on time for my job.
This is a company that does what they say. Michele, who was my contact person, was absolutely delightful and has a great sense of humor and the driver who delivered the box was as nice as could be. I will definitely use them again!

This was my first experience with this company. I was a little hesitant after reading the Unilocal review but my contractor recommended the company and had used them previously.
I gave them a call and it was pretty quick. The person that took my order was friendly. He basically asked the size, address and my cc number. I asked when is the earliest time that I could receive the box and they said in the afternoon. The box came in the afternoon as promised.
When I called for them to get the box back, they remove it as promised on the same day. I thought it was overall pretty good.
The only reason I couldn’t give it a higher were two things:
1. Never receive a receipt for the billing
2. Had two separate charges on my account.
I think these were major issues that people using their service should really be aware of. You are always unsure of their pricing policy. What they quote you over the phone may not be what you are actually charge. It would be a reasonable courtesy for them to call you first and indicate the additional charge and why you are being charged. No response, no receipt, no call…

I have used Peninsula Debris Box for several jobs in the past, and they always do a professional job that is timely and at the best price. There are not too many business left that let you do everything by 1 phone call, but Peninsula Debris does the job with 1 call. In addition, they support local schools and charities, which I find impressive in the current economic climate. Keep up the good work.

If Unilocal would allow 0 stars, it would be 0 stars. I have rented a debris box from them last year to hold concrete for demolition from my backyard. At the time, they quoted a flat fee and dropped off the box. 2 days after they picked it up full of concrete jack-​hammered from the backyard, an additional $ 500+ charge shows up on my AmEx card. Call to inquire, and it’s for «the overweight charge because the landfill charged us so we are passing on the cost to you». THIS WAS ON A FIXED-​PRICE AGREEMENT!!! And they failed to give me any paperwork whatsoever. After briefly arguing with them and realizing that this was not going anywhere, I disputed the charge with AmEx and they did a charge back. After a few letters, they took me to small claims court over $ 500. How slow can their business be if they are willing to spend so much time pursuing a few hundred dollars??? The judge eventually split their fee down the middle. Needless to say, they are not getting any more business from me or my friends and connections!
