Gilbert is like family. I’ve been taking my car here for years. Gilbert is all about honesty and communication. He will explain everything he needs to do and make sure you understand and approve before he proceeds. Also, when you come to get your car, he’ll do his best to show everything he just did. He is fair with pricing as well. He often will do little things for free when he can.

Most trusted mechanic in San Mateo. Been going to this place for a few years and never had any reason to not go to him for my car issues.

Perucho is very nice guy. He helped me to change a new thermostat. Just after that, he found my temp sensor is broken and he helped me change a new one with no charge.

There’s always that feeling you get in your stomach when you enter an auto shop. «What are they gonna find wrong with my car now and how much is this gonna cost?» Oh the anxiety with cars!
When I USED TO bring my car in to the City Toyota in Daly City for keeping up with maintenance and oil changes for my 2005 Toyota Corolla CE… City Toyota always manages to point out something they «find» that needs to be taken care of right away and slap a $ 400 bill to it. All the while, you can’t help but wonder how truthful these dealership auto shop places are with you. I refused to pay for something that I believe did not need to be done. When I brought my car in for Gilbert to check out… he said I still had a LONG time before I needed any of the stuff City Toyota said I NEEDED done right away. My car is still alive to this day.
I just recently had an oil change & tire rotation done by him and I watched him do it the whole time (which he didn’t seem to mind at all). It’s important you see what your automechanic is doing to your car right? It’s not right to deprive yourself of knowledge you should gain about your car that you drive on a daily basis. City Toyota would take my car & hide it behind a curtain & supposedly run all these tests that may be inaccurate because they’re done by a machine or who knows what. Whatever happened to good ol’ «gettin’ your hands dirty» mechanics? If Gilbert finds something is genuinely wrong with your car and you need it done right away… he’ll tell you. If you don’t need it done right away… he’ll tell you that you don’t need it done! Simple as that!

Well where do I start?! I drove up from los angeles a few weekends ago and my car was making a funny noise. I hate going to the dealership to get my bmw checked out! So I Unilocaled the nearest auto repair shop. My 325i was making a noise everytime I went over a bump and I could not stand it any longer. Gilbert diagnosed it as my control arm bushing and now it doesnt clunk! Gilbert is my go to guy for my bmw in San Mateo! Nice guy too! THANKS GILBERT!

The place is still run by the same nice guy but it isn’t the same and he’s rather pricey now.

Gilbert helped me when the catalyctic converter on my Honda 2002 needed replacing, the price was really reasonable. On top of that he he helped me fix the rubber on my window by ordering the part for me and did not charge me on labor for replacing it. Thanks Gilbert On my way there today for my daughter’s car.

I’ll agree! I live in Fremont and I will drive to San Mateo to get my car serviced. He will tell me only the things I need to get done and will tell me the things I don’t need to get done, but he will tell me when I should get it taken care of. Most shops I go to will only tell me what needs to be done, he will tell me what needs to be done as well as what is next up. Most big-​named corporate mechanics are only out for your money. Gilbert is kind and a good hearted person.
