Route 2 Language

I found Route 2 Language at a time where I felt helpless and hopeless. They have worked wonders with my son. He’s been going there for 2 years now, and it’s the only place where I feel I can see the real little boy, the smart little guy underneath the autism come out and play. The patience and devotion of the therapists at R2L is refreshing and remarkable. My son has made great progress, and the therapists there are willing to put in the time and effort to really develop a relationship with the kids. That relationship is the key to success and it worth it for me to drive from Mountain View to San Mateo through horrible traffic to make sure my son gets to every session. It’s sometimes the highlight of the week, for both my son and for me. I can not recommend them highly enough. And excellent balance with play, work, breaks and social skills building, I couldn’t be happier. Thank you R2L!
Also, they are very good at organizing their invoices in clear terms to help with correct and quick insurance reimbursements. A huge help to a busy stressed mom!

We found Route 2 Language after having an unpleasant experience at another local speech therapy clinic. At that time I was looking for the exact opposite of what my son had been receiving in the way of speech therapy. We found what we were looking for with the therapists at R2L. Right off the bat, everyone was warm and welcoming and made a point of working with my son at the speed and in the direction that he chose. No one ever made him fit into a cookie cutter/​therapy box. Since my son first started his weekly sessions at Route 2 Language he has lengthened his attention span, increased his ability to focus and attend to tasks, and the best part… he has gone from basically being nonverbal to completing full sentences! Our entire family is grateful for Route 2 Language and all of the help and support that the therapists have extended to us.

R2L is a place where my son, who has autism and epilepsy, looks forward to going. It’s his place where he can be himself, be safe and be listened to. The clinics focus is communication. My son is met where he is. As he has grown to a young adult he has come to trust the therapist who understand that trust is the basis of a healthy relationship. Communication comes with ease when trust is present. More importantly, my son enjoys the interaction and time that he spends learning and just being himself. The clinic is located close to downtown San Mateo, facilitating learning in real life environments. Outings also give the community an opportunity to have interactions with individuals with autism and experience first hand the issues faced by each person. Overall, R2L is truly a client centered clinic.
