The way State Farm calculates their rates is completely asinine. I have a car that is nearing 5 years old with 19,600 miles on it. They changed my premium from driven less than 7,500 miles annually to driven over 12,000 miles annually. This was because they told me I could save even more money on my very rarely driven vehicle by reporting my odometer in their «Drive Safe & Save» program. I made my reports and happened to have one long distance trip in the very small timeframe between their odometer requests. Now my policy has gone up over 10%, even though my car was not driven even 6,000 miles in the entire year, including that trip.
I faxed them service records noting mileage of less than 6,000 miles in the last year and they are refusing to acknowledge it or base my rate on it.
My insurance has gone up substantially because I did what they asked me to do to save more money. I am infuriated.
I suggest their corporate office contact me directly to fix this problem as I have been a customer since I got my driver’s license and have never experienced anything this idiotic in all my years. My entire family and a large number of my friends and coworkers use their service as well and I feel strongly influenced to have everyone I know change insurers.

You don’t really know how good your insurance is until you make a claim. You pay the premiums for years, get good-​driver discounts, and WHAM, our beloved Honda got totaled, rolling-​over as our son swerved, avoiding a deer. It was a total loss.
Steve and his staff made us feel soothed and comforted that we would be carefully considered for the value of our 13-​year old, low-​mileage sedan. The settlement was far-​higher than I expected and even with the $ 500 deduction, I honestly feel like I can find a fair replacement for our loss. Steve has been a great agent and I highly recommend him and his staff. They were awesome!
