History
Established in 2005.
Back in 2001, Patrick Ragan and long-time friend and former sparring partner, Paul Ferrari, were working on a management and training deal with NABF Heavyweight Champion Obed Sullivan, along with other top prospects. In addition, long time friend, «Irish» Pat Lawlor, contacted Patrick looking to make a comeback and had asked him for help to make that happen. This sparked the need to set up a training camp in a well-equipped facility. Not many options existed.
With no boxing gyms located in San Mateo at that time, Patrick had a vision of opening a boxing gym and elite training center in San Mateo County. This soon blossomed into a bigger vision of making the facility open to the public so that anyone can reap the benefits of a boxers’ workout and train along side of the pros. The idea of bringing the first and only boxing gym and elite training center to San Mateo County, motivated Patrick to move forward with his plan and search for the proper location to house ‘Westside Boxing Club’
