This is a place located by my brother’s house in Richmond that we absolutely love going to. I ordered kra tiem(garlic beef and broccoli), cashew nut chicken, shrimp fresh spring rolls, pad kee mao(beef thick and flat noodles), and pork panang curry. The garlic beef and broccoli was really good. The meat could have been a bit more tender as it was a bit over cooked(a bit tough and dry) — but was still delicious as the flavors blended well together. The cashew nut chicken — my favorite! You don’t realize that the chicken is covered in a crispy tempura — until you bite into it and realized the sweet and delicious texture of sauces it’s drenched in. The shrimp fresh spring rolls were good — the dipping sauce threw me off guard as it was more of a citrusy type than the normal peanut sauce I am used to when I order fresh spring rolls elsewhere. But it was all still good! The pad kee mao noodles was good as always. The panang curry is always my favorite curry wherever I go — super flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The price is more on the pricy side for the amount of food you get — but it does seem to be that way in any Thai place I’ve gone to anyway so that wasn’t a shocker. I just wish they had more servings of their delicious cooking! Overall, I definitely recommend Blue Bay Thai Cuisine. Check it out sometime!

Excellent establishment! Order to go, the portions tend to be bigger. Yellow curry with pork and brown rice is my go to! Their crab wantons are on point, too! Friendly staff! Love this place!

This is my go to spot. Great Thai food with a «street food» spin. Curries are excellent, as are some of the noodle soups and appetizers.

Located in a strip mall but exceeded my expectations. There are a lot of Thai restaurants where I live so it’s hard to come all the way out to San Pablo but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Excellent service. Atmosphere is so-so to adequate. I was told there can be some crowds from the Casino San Pablo across the street but when we went it was not crowded.

Good and friendly service. Was surprised that they didn’t offer a lime with my pad Thai. I had the chicken but was confused that it had fried pieces of tofu(?) in it which I pushed to the side. Also tried the lettuce cups which were hard to eat. The lettuce pieces were small so it was very messy and not very lunch friendly without a bib. Other than that, nice folks and decent quality food!

Decided to try this place out with a friend since we were craving Thai food and saw this place on Unilocal.I’m so happy we did! The restaurant itself is a bit small but simple and clean. We came during the lunch hour specials and ordered the eggplant with beef and tofu green curry. It came with a starting salad which tasted very herby and fresh. It was actually really yummy. When the food came, the aesthetics of the plate was lovely. When a place puts in effort to make sure the food’s presentation is appealing to the eyes as well, you know they care. As for the curry itself… oh my gosh. So good! I started spooning it and eating it like a soup once I devoured the tofu and rice(which I had already drowned in the curry). Our server was very attentive and nice, so A on that aspect. Our bill came out to around 16 dollars, so with the lunch special and no drinks we each spent around 8 dollars. Which isn’t bad at all, especially since we left very full and satisfied! Definitely going to take family and friends here from now on! Also, another nice little touch is that they have pictures of all the items on a little stand. So you can see what you order before you buy!

I’m actually really surprised on the high ratings on this Thai restaurant. Pretty awesome that they deliver but the food is sub par. I’ve eaten at a number of Thai places, this is not a place I would recommend. Also, they take about an hour to deliver(at least for our order). My boyfriend and I decided to order some Thai food for dinner. We decided to try Blue Bay Thai. The pictures show some delicious entrees, but I was skeptical about the pad thai(some pictures were not appetizing — see the chunky pad Thai pic). We ordered chicken basil eggplant, chicken pad see eww, crab wontons, chicken wings, rice, mango sticky rice and Thai iced tea. Yes, I know, we’re fatties. Let’s start with the good stuff. The Thai iced tea s pretty delicious, a good balance between the tea and milk. The white rice was delicious too, not over-cooked, just right. The mango with sticky rice was yummy too. My suggestion is to order that but with less coconut milk. I get that the sticky rice is suppose to be soaked in the coconut milk but dripping in it? Now, the not so delicious part. I had the pad see eww. It had chicken, Chinese broccoli and basil. It basically tasted like sheets of rice noodles stir-fried in soy sauce. The soy sauce flavor was strong and the only flavor in the dish. I even added srirchaha and sauce from the wings to give it more flavor. Unfortunately, even the added sauces didn’t help cancel out the soy sauce flavor. My boyfriend loves eggplant basil and he was pretty excited when we saw the delicious entrée on Unilocal. We noticed that his portion was small. Okay, maybe the flavor will make up for it. Nope, the eggplant basil was bland and the sauce was not thick either. And real quick, the wings and crab wontons are okay. The wings were a bit more sour and tangy and needed more sweetness and spiciness. The crab wontons were a bit salty but tolerable. Final thoughts, we were overall disappointed with our entrees. Unfortunate that this was our first time and last time ordering from here.

We have had multiple delivery orders from Blue Bay Thai, and they’ve *never* left me thinking«this is the last time I’m placing an order with them.» Their soups are an absolute must on those cold rainy nights(and you know how it has been over the first few weeks of El Nino’s arrival). The chicken noodle soup is both heart-warming, and tummy stuffing, both at the same time, for the both of us. Yes one soup at barely 10 bucks was enough to fill us both. The noodle is, thankfully, packed separately while the bountiful broth came in a quart sized tightly sealed container. The noodles were done just right and with the sprouts, the soup was fantastic! The spinach soup came with silken tofu, fish balls, and minced pork amongst others. This too was a clear soup that was delicious and filling, and had varying interplay of flavours and textures. The last soup was the Kow Tom; a rice soup with minced pork, shrimp, and daikon. Unlike a jook(congee), the rice was not cooked down to the consistency of a porridge. The shrimp pieces were sweet and reminded me of lobster. The mix of rice, shrimp, pork(and some greens) made this another three-pointer. The soups made you believe, ephemerally, that they do indeed come in threes! The green curry chicken with eggplant was delicious too. The flavours were all there and balanced as opposed to quite a few other places where either the spiciness or the coconut milk would tilt the«balance of power.» However, I wish there were more vegetables in the curry to balance things out; i.e. more bell peppers, bamboo shoot, and even possibly sprouts. But I’m sure most carnivores couldn’t care less about that. The basil eggplant with roasted duck was great. For some(but not me), the chewy texture of duck breast can be not very enticing. I personally love duck and this entrée was delectable! The cashew chicken was a revelation for me. It was simply absolutely delicious but not for those on a diet. It was Grease 3 on a plate. Ok not nearly that greasy but you can tell the crispy chicken couldn’t have been«air fried.» The lightly sweet sauce coated on the crunchy batter-fried chicken with the crispy fried cashew was fabulous! The shrimp spring roll was good but I wish they had used smaller shrimp that could have been more uniformly spread throughout the roll. It was delicious but not every bite was a well balanced as it could have been. The chicken satay was good too, but nothing to write home about. Lastly, there was the papaya salad. We opted to add shrimp, in a medium-spicy dressing. It had bold flavours but the heat level(for a «medium spicy») was threatening to go off the charts! There were chilli-flakes galore and both of us shed tears in our endeavour to finish it off. It was tasty, nonetheless and I would recommend this dish in the«mild spicy» version. Almost every poultry or meat soup/entrée/curry(save for the seafood) was within a buck north or south of a Hamilton. And each entrée or soup serving enough for two, it’s absolutely worth every penny when you consider that $ 10 – 11 is all it cost per meal, for two, delivered to your front door. Note that I cook jasmine rice at home instead of ordering from them. To summarise: their absolute bang-for-the-buck craft served to fortify my impression that they can be relied upon to deliver the goods every single time!

My go-to spot for Thai delivery in the El Cerrito area! Always delicious, generous portions and quick, friendly delivery folks. Their pumpkin curry is perfect(medium spice has a good kick), and the pad see ew noodles are saucy and divine day-of and leftover. Prices are on-point too! Dishes are about $ 10 each, and we always have leftovers. My only complaint is if you select Tofu as your protein of choice(vs. chicken, beef, shrimp, etc), they add SOMUCH tofu that it overpowers the dish. If you’re a vegetarian eater, just select«veggie» instead of tofu, and you’ll get lots more flavor and variety in your dish. I’ll be hard pressed to find a better, faster, more filling Thai option in El Cerrito. We’ve got Blue Bay on speed dial(read: bookmarked on the Unilocal app)!

I found this place to be quite average despite the amazing reviews it has. I’ve been to Thailand before and I think that’s where the problem was. The food here tastes too~ much like the food I’ve had in Thailand. And by that, I mean it’s too authentic. Before you say anything, yeah I know, I’m a barbarian. But I don’t care. It’s like when you go to Chinese restaurants in America and order Yangzhou fried rice. It tastes MUCH better than the fried rice in Yangzhou, China. Anyways, I thought their portions were awesome and the lunch specials were priced really decently. But it was a little too authentic for my taste. Maybe when I become more acquainted with ~real~ Thai food, I’ll like this place more. But for now, I think I’ll stick to my Americanized Thai restaurants.

After all these years of living in the East Bay, I had never thought of going North of Albany for Thai food. I was very impressed at this lucky gem in San Pablo. My partner and I have come to this strip mall normally to pick up some seniorita bread from Starbread bakery next door, but we had never once noticed this restaurant until a month or so ago in our quest for delicious thai food. We ordered via Unilocal and did a pick-up. Highly recommend if you want take out or can’t dine in.(There is definitely adequate amount of seating though if you do decide to dine in. We order several dishes including Pad Thai, Curry, BBQ Pork, and Pra Ram. All were well-made and served large portions. The Pad Thai in particular was thick, flavorful, and was one of the best I have had in the Bay Area. Definitely, adding this to our list of regular, good-eats take-out spots

Pretty dang good. This place is in a shabby little shopping strip by San Pablo Casino. This place is a semi-«hole in the way» but inside it is clean and doesn’t feel too small. I was able to sneak away w/o my little bear cubs. I like going places solo and listening in on other propels conversations :) I’ll be up front– service here is lacking in the attention department. The staff is certainly nice but I literally had to eye ball someone every time I needed something. That was a little annoying because they weren’t busy. Thai ice tea was great, I took that bad boy down in no time at all. Yellow Curry w/duck: great portion size, lots of sauce(just the way I like!!!), potato and carrot were tender, duck was flavorful and lots of it. The fried banana was super overwhelming. I wish the waiter would have said«lady– too big for just you». But… He didn’t and when it came out my jaw dropped to the floor. It’s kind of massive. A little too sweet for my taste but the ice cream was creamy, banana battered and fried was cooked perfectly. I would go again for some late night grub if in the area.

Blue Bay is one of the best Thai restaurants in the entire East Bay, for sure. They know how to do authentic Bangkok street food right! They have the ever-elusive dish that has been made popular by Portland’s Nong’s Khao Man Gai… it’s on the menu here… everyday! Boiled Hainanese-ish chicken, with rice cooked in the broth with a ginger, garlic hot sauce, and a bowl of the broth on the side. So close to what you’d get down your soi in Thailand. The pad Thai here is excellent, as are the wings and sticky rice. Cold day outside? Try their beef noodle soup. The service is impeccable! The prices are fair, and the food is excellent!

Would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area. It’s not the best Thai I’ve had, but it’s pretty good. Service was fast and friendly, and food was hot, hot, hot! which is what I expect from Pad Kee Mao. Portions were very good and lunch prices were reasonable. I had enough leftovers from lunch to have a light snack later. Only unfortunate thing that happened here was that when I while I was eating, the super spicy rice noodles went down the wrong hole, and it resulted in it being 10TIMESHOTTERTHANBEFORE. I was sweating like crazy, and coughing like crazy, haha, but i have to say I was wide awake sweating after that!

This was our first(but not last) experience with Blue Bay Thai. I took advantage of their on line ordering which happily was sponsored by Unilocal Eat 24. Ordering was simple, a minimum dollar amount before tax had to be reached in order to qualify for delivery. I was going to go pick it up, but when I saw what my 4 items came to I decided to save my energy and pay the $ 2.50 delivery charge. Before I get into the food, since I used the delivery service you should know that the estimated time on my confirmation email was 45 to 60 minutes from time of order to time of delivery. Seemed reasonable and I didn’t mind. But no! My order was at my door in 36 minutes! Almost 10 minutes early! So, easy ordering, convenient and quick! Now for the food. We ordered: ½ order Fried Egg Rolls, veg. Nice, flaky wrap and well cooked veggies. Not oily. Came with dipping sauce.
1 full order of Chicken Satay. Came with peanut sauce that we mixed with Egg Roll Sauce to spice it up a bit. Very, very good. 1 full order of Pumpkin Curry with Chicken added. Spicy. This dish was simply the highlight of the dinner. The pumpkin was cooked to perfection, lots of chicken sliced thin so easy to eat along with a variety of vegetables. Creamy sauce and the spice element was just right. 1 order of Pad Thai with Chicken added. Spicy. Another very tasty dish, made even better when we poured the left over pumpkin curry sauce over it. Blue Bay Thai is so far a new favorite. We will have to order from here again. I’ll probably use the on line order system since it worked so well and the cost is nominal. Also, I received a coupon from Unilocal Eat 24 for my next order. Win Win! Check out their menu on line. Super easy and super good food.

San Pablo with the Thai food– who woulda thought?! A large group came on a Saturday night, and there were plenty of available tables. We ordered a variety of dishes and liked all of them. My Favorites: — Pad Thai — Kaw Soi Curry Noodles — Garlic rice that comes with steamed/poached Hainan chicken dish Other dinner dishes we ordered– eggplant basil, chicken wings, mango salad, papaya salad(has a good spicy kick), and fried chicken rice. We ate everything and then decided to order dessert– coconut ice cream, mango sticky rice, and fried bananas w/coconut ice cream. Never have I seen a banana fried in a hard boiled egg shape. Check it– Service is friendly and attentive; waitress kept coming by for water refills, etc. This is a popular place for take out– customers were coming in and out. The location is in a strip mall across the street from Doctor’s Hospital, and there are some panhandlers in the area. I had low expectations given the area, so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Good place for a last minute meal spot.
