Luis is terrific! He came on time, fixed a nagging problem our contractor couldn’t fix with our chimney and did it all for a reasonable price, with humor and cleanliness. His assistant is also very competent. The service is great and Luis is my current hero. Thank you so much!

I called 4 local places, several had appointments 2 months out. Others were very over priced at twice the cost with written inspections. I wanted to get a hassle free chimney sweep asap so I could use my fireplace this winter.
Clean Pro’s came on time and they did good work and were clean and tidy too! We have added them to our household maintenance phone numbers and will be calling on them from now on!

I can’t praise Luis enough. His workmanship and manner were 5 star from beginning to end.
Got an estimate from Luis for chimney repair/​rebuild before finalizing an offer on a house. Bought the house and contacted Luis to do the job. He returned my call the same evening and scheduled to begin the job the following week. Luis and his helper were prompt every day — they were organized, conscientious and cleaned each day before they left. They did an outstanding job of rebuilding the entire fire box — from the inside, outside and underside (basement). And the price was exactly the price he quoted.
I highly recommend Luis/​Clean Pros Chimney and will call him again when I’m ready to rebuild my outdoor fire place or for any other fireplace/​chimney work.

I called Clean Pros Chimney Cleaning and I was able to schedule a chimney cleaning and inspection for the following day. They also offered the best rate that I found in the area.
They arrived one hour late, however, so that is why I’m only giving them 4 stars. When he arrived, there was no explanation or apology. Luis was very friendly and did an excellent job, so I definitely recommend them.

Luis and his very brave assistant came out and swept our chimney today. Unlike some other local companies who offer chimney sweeping I contacted Luis and his partner on very short notice and they appeared on short notice (I called Tuesday and they arrived Friday right on schedule). The other Berekely/​Oakland chimney sweeps I contacted (all of them) said they were booked for at least 4 weeks before I could make an appointment.
One comment in this Unilocal thread mentioned that these guys are not insured. If you have a common home insurance liability policy then of course you are covered. I suspect these comments were posted by competitors.
We have a scary very steep roof and the chimney top is three floors above ground level and no room (due to only three feet next to our neighbor’s property line) situation. Luis and his man figured out a way to get to the chimney and clean it without me needing to ask my neighbor to set a ladder up on their property (by accessing via our roof deck instead of from the ground). The whole job took one hour.
These guys are great. I’ve lit a messy fire with some not so cured wood as a test and the fire is burning with no smoke into the living space.
All this for $ 120.
Bottom line, I can not recommend these guys more.

I called three local chimney repair companies. Clean pros has an answering service so the call was taken promptly. Luis got my message in full detail and called me back within an hour. The fee for cleaning and inspection was very reasonable. I got a quote for a chimney top damper that was also reasonable. He and his assistant arrived on time at nine am and the whole job was completed by 11am and done well.
I have a 30′ chimney that protrudes through a steep roof. His assistant ran up the roof, crossed the peak and ran down the opposite side to the chimney. In seconds he was removing the spark arrest and brushing out the liner. Previous chimney guys were hesitant to climb up there– «we only clean from the bottom» «we have to come and tie off to the house next door” — not these guys. They went right up there and got the job done perfectly. I’m very glad I called clean pros and plan to have them back to tuck point in the spring.

I’m putting one star because I also checked the license number of this contractor. It’s not necessarily fake, but it is the license # for someone else, an electrical contractor in Oakland. I checked with the Contractor Licensing folks and called them to see what the deal is, and they said they too have been wondering why someone else is claiming this license. I’ll change the review if these folks can explain why they’re using this license. Could be as simple as typo/​mistake, but it should be addressed.

Luis is very professional, great guy overall. I found him through Unilocal and thought I would give him a call to clean my chimney since winter is right around the corner. He did a inspection of the chimney and got to work right away.

Not a Pro at all!
This service Company pretended to be licensed Contractor when they are not. The license number on their Business card, is fake!
Not safe to be sending this Contractor to clean the inside chimney from the outside of the house on the ladder and roof. God forbid If they Fall of the roof, the liability of their injuries are on the home owner!
They only have a business License to work in the city of San Pablo.
He did pretend and produced a fake inspection report with a poor English language that was worthless to us. Cleaned the fire box and changed the Ash dump Cover.
Do not Use this Company for Real Estate Inspections, they are more of a liability than asset for your home inspection purposes. Their opinion is worthless because they are uncertified, not a Licensed & Bonded Contractor, and they are not qualified to be doing any kind of masonry on chimney and fire boxes, and repairs to the structure of the Chimney!

Very friendly, thorough and clean. I hired him last two weeks ago to check and clean my chimney. After checking the chimney he told me it is pretty dirty and may cost me $ 100. I know that chimney hasn’t been cleaned for at least 10 years. The prior two owners of the house didn’t use it at all. I told him, I’m ok with the charge. He also told me that there’s a crack up and it will cost me $ 40. I knew that crack. My house inspector told me to fix it before the rainy season. I’m glad it only cost me $ 40. Luis told me his fix will last for about 15 years or so. :)
I would totally recommend this guy!

My call was answered promptly. This was the first good sign and indication of how the rest of the project woudl go. I was able to have an appt within two days. Luis came out and cleaned the two flues. He observed some other work that need to be done and let me know about them. I proceed with the additional work; at no time was there pressure to proceed.

Luis is the best. He came out to diagnose a problem with a smoky fireplace, and identified the problem as nothing more than a flue I hadn’t opened all the way, and a need for an inexpensive smoke guard.
Some professionals might have gouged me for a cleaning I didn’t need, but Luis made sure I only paid for what was actually necessary — and mercifully didn’t make me feel dumb for not opening the flue properly.
It’s a pleasure to hire someone who’s a craftsman that takes pride in their work and delivers such professional results!

I bought a house last year and found during the winter months that the chimney was probably in desperate need of a cleaning. Smoke coming into the room, difficulty keeping the fire going, and the ash trap was full with years and years of old ashes.
I called around and got a number of quotes, some reasonable, some VERY unreasonable, and Luis gave me a quote I was happy with so I made an appointment.
He came out, was a really nice guy, and got to work. He’s like a ninja! The man worked crazy efficiently, cleaned the hell out of that chimney, answered all of my questions, and even had an extra ash trap door in his truck (Which I needed and had trouble locating online… and was inexpensive!).
When he was done, they place was cleaner than when he’d gotten there, I had a new ash trap door, I had quotes for other chimney services I needed, and I was charged what I was quoted with no hidden fees. This man rocks!
I will definitely be using him for my other chimney projects, he’s earned my loyalty!
Oh, and by the way, fires in my chimney are great now! The smoke goes straight up and not meandering into the room, and thanks to the door, the fire starts easier and is easy to keep going.

Believe the 5 star reviews! Luis is responsive, friendly, and skilled. Cleaned our chimney and installed a new damper (roof mount), as our old (interior mount) damper was stuck open. Showed up on time (actually early, which was fine), did a great job. Pointed out some brick repair that should be addressed down the road as well. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend this company — Luis, the owner, is friendly and dependable. He came the very next morning after I called at 8:30 am on a Saturday, which was perfect for our family. I can’t speak to the price because I didn’t call anyone else, but he cleaned our chimney, removed the fake logs and rocks, and added a cap to our chimney for $ 220. We had our first fire in our seven years in our house, so thanks, Luis!

Luis is the MAN!
I was getting quotes from other companies that were depending on what type of wood burning stove I have. They were ranging from $ 175 — $ 225. Luis shows up and and says, «no problem, $ 150».
Right on time, plastic over everything. When they left the room was cleaner than when they arrived.

Luis is great. They called beforehand to confirm the time, showed up on time, gave me a quick and honest assessment, and completed the cleaning & repairs within an hour. Now I have a clean, working fireplace with a new damper.
Also a big plus that this is not a company that sends a random guy over who cares more about where he’s going for beers later than the job. Luis is the face of the business and stands by his work.

Update 2012-​09-​10: Luis came when he said he would, installed a new cap for our double chimney, and as a bonus added bricks between the two chimneys to keep the smoke from being pulled down one when the other is being used. He was concerned that our TV antenna would have to be removed but managed to work around it. He’s a thoughtful and skilled guy — recommended highly.

Luis came over to look at our chimney last week and will be returning to put on a cap. He was friendly, sincere, and professional and clearly knows his work. I’ll update this review after the cap gets installed, but I just wanted to get it started today while I’m thinking about it.

Found Clean Pros on Unilocal and glad we did. Luis did a great job. He made a reminder call before our set time and arrived on time, used drop cloths on the carpet and walkway area to keep from tracking soot did a quick inspection and found a large crack in the mouth of the fireplace leading up to the chimney. The crack would have allowed smoke and/​or stray embers [had we made a fire] to escape between the living-​room wall and the interior chimney (!) He patched it quickly and now our chimney is ready to go! He’s also very pleasant and professional and the cost was very reasonable.
