Cheese pizza at 6AM? YES! My hubby and I came here bright and early on Saturday morning to grab a couple slices of pizza, a couple dozen croissants, and a chocolate chip cookie… I know cut me some slack. The other dozen was for my coworker. LOL! This tiny bakery is nestled in a residential neighborhood. It has a small store front with a simple menu that is handwritten on a whiteboard. The lady that assisted us was very sweet. As for the grub, it was all so good! My husband and I loved the pizza. It was nice and cheesy with the perfect amount of sauce. The croissants are always a favorite. And the chocolate chip cookie… nice and fluffy loaded with chocolate chips. It was definitely worth getting up early for.

I grew up in Pedro and I spent a lot of time after school at this place. I recently came back and bought some bread and of course some pizza. I didn’t know whether to smile or cry. Everything took me back to when I was a teenager. I’m a fairly successful chef now and I can make bread and pastries but why bother when you can buy them here and they are beyond perfect. By the way, the people that work there are some of the friendliest yet professional that I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

There is no pizza that can compare even slightly to the pizza here. Same goes with the rolls, the cookies, and the brownies. Everything is freshly made and delicious, and the service is so friendly. You definitely need to call ahead though and reserve what you want, because early every morning they do sell out! A classic Pedro spot for an early morning treat

Came here for a quick lunch and I was pleasantly surprise! It is a little off the beaten path, but that actually makes parking a breeze not having to deal with all the typical traffic. The pizza is great and can be purchased by the square, half tray or full tray and you can’t beat the prices! Top off your lunch with one of their chocolate chip cookies — they are outstanding!

Come on Daig, this is Pedro in a slice. Some great homemade pizza. Either by the slice or a full tray can’t go wrong, and pizza for breakfast… come on!

Ok, so it was my first time coming here as I’ve been meaning to stop by for awhile now since I’ve heard so many good things about this little ma & pa bakery. I’m a long time Pedroan, born and raised – I have never heard of nor seen this place before! What a shame! Probably ’cause it’s tucked away in a Pedro residential neighborhood surrounded by apartment/condos and homes, smack dab in the middle of town. Well, let me tell you, I now see why I’ve been missing out over the years. I just got back a little while ago and I am now writing this review after shoving the last pizza slice in my face and sampling all the other goodies. It was around 12:30 p.m. when I walked in the bakery. I was a little concerened that maybe they had already sold out of everything ’cause the display case looked a little empty. I can see why reviews were saying to get there early. However, lucky, lucky first timer me was informed by the sweet mama behind the counter that the cheese pizza and chocolate chip cookies had just come out of the oven. Heck yeah, SCORE! I’m in nooo hurry! She put them in easy-to-carry pizza boxes, shoved my brownie, Italian almond cookie, and lemon bar in a bag, and I was off on my merry little way. Since they just came out of the oven, one pizza slice and one chocolate chip cookie never made it home. I devoured it upon entering the car. While stopped at a red light, some dude was looking over checking out my pizza slice with a smug smile. I really don’t think he was smiling at me… he was totally checking out my pizza! You know his a$$ went for pizza afterwards. Here’s my little note taking list: –Parking was easy, especially since it’s residential and to my knowledge, I didn’t see any parking restriction signs. –Cash or check only. –Prices are good. Think«bake sale» «fundraising prices». –Lady was so sweet, so excellent customer service. –Chocolate chip cookies were on the fluffy, cakier side. I prefer mine really chewy and dense, but they were still tasty and good. Pizza-yummo, I like that I can hold a slice with one hand and drive with the other, nothing slid off and it was nice and fresh! I prefer my lemon bars with no crust on top, just the ooey gooey lemoney stuff with powdered sugar. Theirs had a crust on top, but still tasty. I don’t know of any bakeries around town that even attempt to make lemon bars, so kudos to Joseph’s. Brownies, uh-ho, yes, yes, yes!!! Moist, chewy, dense, and with chocolate chips. Ok, so I’m not Italian, but I’ve tried this type of almond Italian dome-shaped cookie before and the consistancy and flavor is exactly how I like it. –Buy in bulk and take to a party or kid’s ballgame, etc. I can picture myself buying by the dozens in the near future. Yes, they also have pink bakery boxes for larger orders. –No frills bakery. Small menu. Grab-and-go kind of place, no seated tables or anything like that. Fantastic for us simpletons. The«In-n-Out» of bakeries. –Long time Pedroan so must support my Pedro community, especially ma & pa places! No, not giving 5 stars only ’cause it’s Pedro. If I don’t like a Pedro establishment, I just keep my mouth shut and don’t go out of my way to write a pleasant review. Two other people showed up while I was there… I can tell one of them was a regular for sure! –Next time I want to try the pepperoni pizza, croissants, and lemon Italian cookies(they didn’t have any yet and/or sold out). I think I have a little gem of a local bakery to frequent now. Pedro bakeries are all known for just certain items to go there for specifically. The pizza slices at Joseph’s alone will have me coming back for more. Just please don’t tell my man I ate his slice that was meant for him. Guess he won’t notice – didn’t leave a crumb of evidence!

The pizza here = my childhood. I actually forgot all about Joseph’s bakery until I saw it mentioned on Unilocal.I can actually think about the pizza and taste it, even though it’s been about 10 years since I’ve had it. Next time I visit San Pedro I’ll treat myself to a slice.

PEDRO! We were looking for a bakery close to the office. It was about 8:30 a.m. and we stopped at this place. UGH! There were a handful of cookies and some bread in the showcase. That was it. We drove up to Polly Ann’s on 8th and got what we were looking for — an actual bakery with pastries.

Joesph’s Bakery is pretty much a San Pedro institution. Its hidden on a fairly small street among a few shops but mostly apartments and homes. A very small but inviting storefront with the bakery in the back. The food there is absolutely delicious. They’re best known for their«breakfast pizza»… cheese or pepperoni pizza that you can get almost as early as you can dream and their glazed muffins and croissants. They also have the usual assortment of cookies and goods. On my last trip I had something there I had not had before. I tried their lemon bar, which was probably the best lemon bar I’ve ever had. It was a bit tart but sweet, soft and gooey with lemon. A perfect flavor in every bite. If you live in the Harbor or South Bay area and haven’t been to Joseph’s you are truly missing out. You have to get up early though, if you go even as late as 8 they are usually already sold through most of their display. This is one place I am willing to get up early for and I don’t like mornings. A+ for Josephs’s Bakery!

This bakery is easy to miss, and can be under rated based on the outside appearance. However it’s truly the BEST. It’s not a typical bakery, as they don’t have cakes, however I don’t think i’ve ever gotten anything that I didn’t like. My favorite pastry/doughnut is the twist with crystal sugar. The customer service is exellent! The lady/owner will go out of her way to give you the freshest and best selection they have. As many have said they do sell out pretty early, so get here before 8:00am!

I’ve been going to Joseph’s for a few days now and I’ve basically tried everything they offer, which is only about 10 different foods. It’s a small bakery in a residential area, this place has great customer service, whenever I go in I’m always greeted with a smile from either Rosa or Joseph. They’re both very happy people and enjoy working there. There chocolate chip cookies are the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had! they sell out of chocolate chip cookies pretty fast though, Once I called at 9AM and they didn’t have any so be sure to call before going to make sure they have some cookies. I always call a few minutes before or a day before and ask them to save me some cookies. This bakery definitely deserves 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Favorite place to get cookies! I came in this morning and the cookies were fresh, they were fluffy and gooey which is perfect. I also got pizza brownies croissants and lemon bars, it was really good and I would wake up at 5:00 am everyday to get these cookies, was really cheap too! Also, it has a retro look to it which makes it even more awesome!

I tried their pizza today, fresh dough, tasty cheese and a great tomato sauce. Simply put this is one of the best pies in Pedro. The crust is not too thick and it’s actually light considering that eating a paper thin cracker with a topping is not an option, or as tasty! The store hours are somewhat nebulous, so give them a call before dropping by. Their various assortment of baked goods are not to be overlooked, cookies, bread are delicious. I enjoy patronizing mom and pop establishments and I urge you to. Enjoy and honor the Carbs, you can work them off! Always stay Feral, Bunky.

Omg!!! I finally came on the day they’re open! Tiny little mom and pop shop. I came to pick up treats for a work event i was having at my job. I purchased the brownies, peanut butter cookies, almond and lemon cookies, and the chocolate chip cookies. Their baked goods are incredible. My Co workers were fighting over them. The cookies are so soft and perfect. The peanut butter cookies are off the chain. THEBROWNIESARE Perfect chocolatey and the glaze on the lemon almond cookies are killer. I want to come next time for the pizza. You definitely have to try this place out.

San Pedro local flavor. Was able to snag the last couple slices of pizza at 2:40pm on a Tuesday. Chocolate chip cookies were sold out so this is based solely on the pizza. The taste of the pizza was very nostalgic, and not in a good way. The stringy neverending mozzarella on that rectangular slice reminded me of my public elementary school cafeteria pizza. I would come back for the cookies or sweets~
