Hi I’m Henry. I’ve lived here, in Pedro, my entire life and I love where I live. Go Pirates!

I am a Microsoft Certified Technician with over 10 years experience in the field. I have managed several small networks running lots of different systems.

I am also registered with the state’s Bureau of Electronic Repair.

I started out in 2001 doing house calls and location business support. In April 2011 my wife urged me to open Salient Computers storefront. We have grown from my wife, myself and our 3 kids to a full blown computer repair operation with multiple employees (minus the kids). Now we have the ability to offer so many more services, hours, and products at our downtown San Pedro location. We have state of the art equipment to diagnose and repair just about any problem you may have.

I was born and raised in San Pedro, attended Dodson & San Pedro High. Go Pirates!

I’ve spent a lot time working on the docks & container ships. I knew I wanted something more, so I traded my free time for Microsoft Certifications, Computer training, College, and field training.

In the beginning I took computer jobs by day and worked on the docks by night. The demand for computer techs who could break it down and put pc problems in laymen terms was one of my specialties. So, I took many jobs for the ILWU, as well as house calls, Dr’s and professional offices. They seemed to like my bedside manner & dashing looks or maybe it was because I fixed their computers. Hmm, which one could it be?

Anyhow, when I started my home business in 2001, I had no idea it would grow so large to where my wife urged me to open a store front in 2011.

We now have our own storefront in the heart of down town San Pedro. We are active members of the community and here to serve your computer, mobile,& tech needs.

Bad service. Aunt took her all-​in-​one dell pc and they told her the motherboard needed to get replaced. The entire service along with the motherboard was close to 600 $!! she declined to repair, thankfully and told me about it, which I repair PC’s as well. Took a look at her pc and found out she had a bad hard drive. Installed new hard drive with new OS, works like new, Everything on the PC works. I hate businesses that try to take advantage of the consumer. I’m opening up claim to the BBB. People please, get a second opinion when taking your PC’s anywhere.

PANIC! Desperation time! I was returning to school after a successful career as a dentist, for a Master’s degree roughly in the same field. Wow – things have changed in 35 years! Anyway, end of trimester stuff at USC for me were 3 narrated PowerPoint presentations, one for each class. I had uploaded them to USC’s platform days before, but the night I was studying for finals I thought I would check them again. NO AUDIO! Also no audio on my own computer anymore. The audio took me HOURS to put in. I was going to fail the first 3 classes of my program. I was shaking – could hardly talk! Luckily after a few hours of desperation my son who lives in San Pedro recommended his tech guy. Guy is not the right word – angel – comes closer. On a Sunday night, after 9:00pm Henry went to his office, took control of my computer remotely (in a good cyber way) and long story short found the problem, reattached the audio and saved my life! He was cool, confident and soothing to frayed nerves. Also, he didn’t call me an idiot! So here’s the deal you Don’t have to LIVE in San Pedro to take advantage! Henry can do so much remotely… sure if you need a new screen or a hands on hardware problem maybe… and even then it would be worth the drive. 5 stars just not enough! Go there, now… establish a working relationship. Everybody needs computer help at some point

These guys are great. Up front. Honest. Realiable. Knowledgeable. I took my Sony Vaio in for data recovery of all my photos (husband tried to do it himself & lost them) they took a couple of days & were able to retrieve many of the lost files. More than I came in to show with. Any future problems I may have (hope not tho) I will definitely come back!

These guys are great! A friend recommended them to me as I had recently had a bad experience at another repair shop in old Torrance… My iPhone screen had shattered and my husband replaced it, but it didn’t get signal or work after he put it back together… The first repair shop took it and returned it to me after charging me $ 50 and it still had the same problem…
Then I bring it to SALIENT COMPUTERS… they were very helpful and showed me what was wrong (also pointed out the missing parts that the other guys didn’t return to me… including 4+ screws, the antennae and a bracket!!!)
I highly recommend SALIENT COMPUTERS… they are a friendly, helpful, fair and honest business!!!

Took my Nexus 7 on 1st thursday. He said he could fix it, master reset, $ 75 I told him I tried that and still said he could fix. After 2 weeks and no call I finally called and he said he couldnt fix it and didnt know what was wrong!!! But before this call I had my Mom take her rinky dink HP notebook in as it was running poorly never called her to tell her what the problem was, she called and they said its ready! WTF? So I ask her to get mine while she get hers… Mine 45 $ for telling me he can fix what I told him wasnt wrong and 135 $ for Moms! Bad business, might as well call geek squad!!!

I took my laptop to the store since it keeps shutting down. I needed help fast for job searching/​interviewing and needed my laptop every day. Henry was very accommodating and worked with me despite the initial miscommunications. He and his staff are good people. I would highly recommend the store.

I am a CPA and completely dependent upon my computer. Recently, the hard drive froze up and could not be accessed. To make matters worse, I came to find out that I had not been backing up my data properly. I thought I had lost years of data. Needless to say, I was horrified. I actually had a couple of sleepless nights. I took my computer to Salient and, long story short, they were able to recover virtually every single bit of data and restore it onto a new hard drive. They didn’t save my life, but they definitely saved my business. Plus, they showed me how to properly back up my data to an external hard drive so that I won’t ever have to lose any more sleep worrying about losing data. Furthermore, although the service they provided was priceless, the price they charged was very reasonable. I wish I could give them more stars. I guess five will have to do.

I broke a keycap off my laptop and couldn’t get it snapped back on to save my life. I tried everything, including going online and following explicit directions. After an hour of trying to wrangle it back on, I called Salient and learned the owner, Henry would be the one to evaluate a mechanical problem but that he was leaving in a few minutes. I rushed down, expecting to be too late and resigned to checking in my laptop for at least a day. However, Henry was nice enough to delay leaving to work on and eventually fix my key — it hadn’t helped that I’d put one extremely small plastic part in backward — but he got it sorted out for me and the charge of $ 10 was a bargain for how urgently I needed to get on with my day. I admit this wasn’t a super-​sophisticated issue but I was glad to have it resolved timely at a reasonable price.

so my 7 y/​o compaq laptop dies one day.
Registry not found it says. My buddy says «oh man its dead. you cant fix it!»
So rather than taking his word for it i took it in to Salient Computers.
they explained their process and pricing to me. Basically you have nothing to lose by bringing them a «dead» computer. After they diagnosed the problem (a worn out hard drive) they promptly contacted me to discuss options I had in the repair process. I approved the repair and they got right to work on it. The technician «Sean» who worked on my machine contacted me often to keep me informed on how the repair was going. When it was finished the bill was exactly what they said it would be. No extra charges no surprises.
I got my laptop home and turned it on and boom! all my files (music, pictures, etc) were there. Not only that the computer worked faster and more reliable than when I first purchased it. Truly worth the money to fix.
A week later I noticed that the power cord had a split in it. So I took it down to see if I could have it replaced. They replaced it free of charge, immediately. Apologized for any inconvenience and I have a «new» laptop!
I highly recommend Salient Computers! They did a great job.

I have been here a couple of times and I won’t hesitate to recommend this little store in the heart of downtown SP. Great customer service, affordable rates and you can even track the status of your repair online. They will tell you right from the start how much it will cost and they explain in plain English what is wrong with your PC. I am good at operating a computer but I am hopeless at sorting the files on it. They have a decent selection of refurbished computers and monitors for those on a tight budget. My only beef is the parking meters but I just drive around until I find one with credit on it.

Avoid this business. I took my new PC in to find out why it was running so slowly. The person who checked in my computer acted like he had never seen a computer in his life. I was told that it would cost $ 40 for them to check out my system. Later they changed this to $ 90 and then also decided that I needed a new hard drive. They quoted me a price for this and then raised that price by another $ 40 when I went to pick it up. I spent nearly $ 300 and the computer still runs very slowly as if they did not even tested it out. I tried to return it to them but they said there was absolutely no warranty on their work, that I would have to contact the manufacturer of the brand new hard drive to get service. It took them well over a week to fix what should other firms can do in a matter of hours. Avoid going here!!!

My very old Compac laptop had «slowed down to a crawl.» After doing my Unilocal research I took it here. Wow … a few days later I picked it up and it’s old health had been restored. The service was excellent and the price was fair.
Why can’t more businesses be like Salient? AND what would we do without Unilocal

I was about to board a cruise ship down the street and realized I’d left my laptop power cable behind. I had to complete a couple of days of work on board before I could enjoy the trip and was in a panic. I called around, received no help («we don’t stock cables,» «you’ll have to come down to see if we have one,» etc.), and then found Salient. Fortunately, they are only a mile from the cruise terminal and a quick stop before time to board. More importantly, the staff there were extremely helpful and professional and literally ran around the store (yes, ran) to find the right power cord. They even offered to sell me a used cord at a significant discount, but I opted for the full deal instead. A great experience and highly recommended!

I had my mac laptop repaired here at salient computers. Henry the owner/​tech was very helpful and friendly. I don’t know much about mac computers and he helped me understand what was wrong with my computer and what needed to be done. The cost of the repair was very reasonable. I will definitely be choosing salient computers for all my computer repair and purchases.
