Just bought remodeled home in Marin this past summer. First heavy rains in December hit and we discover sump pump is not working. Forster was referred by another reputable moisture control company and they agreed to take a look at my sump pump the same week. Lo and behold the pump was ancient and corroded. Forster’s technician removed it and replaced it in less than 2 hours. Technician showed up on time and was very courteous(even to my inquisitive puppy). Very fair price for the work. I am vey satisfied.

Don’t even TRY calling them for any sort of appt.(assessment and/or estimate). I did, & not only are they not taking on new customers, but they said there are about 100 people on the Waiting List and about 50 jobs on the line-up. Apparently their reputation as being the best around has served them well, but for those of us in desperate need… forget it. I gave them 3 stars because I’m sure they’re 5 on expertise/work but 0 on availability!

Let me start off by saying that I have no doubt about the level of expertise offered by these guys. We had them do an initial home inspection before going into escrow and the owner was not only highly knowledgeable, but also had no compunctions about admitting when he didn’t know something, which is a rare and commendable characteristic. The hillside site for our house was particularly challenging, so he referred us to a soil engineer; something we are extremely grateful for. To top it off, he’s also a really nice guy. After our downstairs flooded during the heavy rains back in the winter of 2014, we decided to work on the last leg of our drainage project. Because our initial experiences with them were so overwhelmingly positive, we decided to hire them again to do a somewhat large and involved drainage project. The idea was to have the project completed by the end of summer 2015. Unfortunately, after attempting to work with them since March 2015, and having plans drawn up at their insistence, we are now entering September, and still no work has been done. No estimate. No nothing. Despite being in continual contact with them and them having come out to our house on at least two separate occasions, we can’t even get an estimate for what we suspect may be a 5-figure job. Repeatedly, we have been assured that the estimate will be coming, but still we have received nothing. Six critical months are now down the drain. Out of frustration, and with the specter of another El Nino flood this coming winter, we’ve been forced to go with another drainage company(the jury’s still out on whether they’ll perform). Because their reputation was so good and our early experience with them so positive, we had really hoped to work with Forster. Unfortunately for us, that previous relationship seems to mean little to them. i’m glad that business is good for them, but I guess unless you’re paying for a 6-figure job, you’re not going to be getting the time of day from them. In the mean time, we’re nearing the 2nd year with our downstairs living quarters in disarray & our brand new carpeting torn up. The major newspapers are predicting heavy rains this winter. Although it won’t likely alleviate our drought here, one thing can be sure: We’ll be flooding again this winter. Thanks Forster Pump & Engineering.

Forster diagnosed the problem with the 2 sump pumps for our house after we had the second(UGH!) flooded basement. They explained everything clearly and knew exactly what they were doing. They were on time, very professional, friendly and incredibly helpful. I most HIGHLY recommend them, and only wish I had found them earlier! Truly great in all facets of my experience with them.

I used these guys years ago to handle a serious drainage problem, and they were fantastic! They were very sharp, diagnosed the problem plus its root cause, and gave me a set of options to tackle the issue at various levels. I ended up putting in a French drain on the uphill side of my house, plus a retaining wall and ratproofing in my crawlspace, plus some concrete under a deck where the earth was eroding — so it was a significant job. One of the things that impressed me was the precision of the job — they had to cut through my concrete walkway, and it looked so perfect with sharp corners. They also were half the price of the other main contender. Best of all, the downstairs hasn’t ever flooded again. I am so grateful!
