Dr. Ortman has been serving Marin County since 1979.
Our Philosophy is to offer a variety of choices to the patient and to help them make the best decision, whether it is conservative or of a surgical nature. We offer techniques that minimize disability and maximize one’s opportunity to return to normal activity. We provide office-based surgery with safe sedation methods, relying primarily on local anesthesia, making the procedure safe and convenient. Dr. Ortman is on staff at Marin General Hospital and Marin Specialty Surgery Center, when their use is deemed appropriate.

Business Owner
Dr. Ortman was raised in Marin County. He attended Sonoma State University, graduating with honors in Liberal Arts. Dr. Ortman began pursuing a pre-medical career in the latter half of his five years at Sonoma State University.
After graduating from Sonoma State University, he accepted to the California College of Podiatric Medicine. While attending Podiatry School, Dr. Ortman’s internship rotations were completed at Stanford University and Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He also attended General Hospital at the University of Southern California. His Postgraduate training in 1977 and 1978 was under the direction of Richard Viehe DPM at Mercy General Hospital and Fountain Valley Community Hospital in Orange County, California. He returned in 1979 to start a private practice near his hometown in San Rafael, California.
Dr. Ortman’s interest has been primarily in general podiatry that includes foot surgery, sports medicine, pediatric and geriatric podiatry.
