Great Price — We have a great special running now. We will smog any car 1996 or newer for $ 34.95 total for labor, plus $ 8.25 for the state certificate and DMV fee. Trucks or Vans add $ 5.

If you car is 1995 and older the special will be $ 20 more.

We are a Smog Test Only Station and we can smog test all vehicles: Regular Smog, Test Only, Gold Shield, Out of State, Diesels, and Hybrids.

We provide State Certified Smog Testing.

We do not do repairs so there is no motivation to find anything wrong or charge you extra.

We are conveniently locate across from the Marin Civic Center on the corner of N. San Pedro and San Pablo Ave in San Rafael. We are right next to the gas station on the corner.

History

Established in 2008.

We are now a few of years old. We have State licensed equipment, and experienced State certified technicians to perform your smog testing services. There isn’t much on the road today where we don’t know the emission control system inside and out. The business is founded on core business principles; to be honest, professional, accurate and reliable. Our goal is to provide you accurate, honest, and timely smog test results at reasonable prices.

Been here twice now, both times super fast in and out. I think I asked if they price match both times (definitely asked the most recent visit) and the guy told me they don’t (even though their website says they do) but their price is «lower than the other guys», which it was, so touché!
I just rolled up, no appointment. The same guy has been here both times and was pretty friendly and laid back. You can come here even it you don’t have «test only» on your DMV registration, but they can’t do any repairs if you end up needing any to pass.

BEST place in both Marin & Sonoma Counties! They’re open until 6, which is awesome. I talked to Dave on the phone earlier yesterday morning, who was super cool and assured me someone would be there to help me at 5:40pm…rolled up at 5:40, the technician (Hamed Parsa) was cheerful, helpful, polite, and great with customers. He needs a raise; what an excellent employee you have there!
I paid just $ 43 and was out of there about 15 minutes later. Super convenient, right off the freeway, excellent customer service, and even better, I loved that Dave personally called me back and told me he could fit me in after 5:30pm.

It’s in the middle of a hot, dusty nowhere, but it gets the job done. Who knew this would be end up being one of the last times I dog-​sat in Marin?
I don’t know what the ALL CAPS is about, but it doesn’t annoy me as much as it normally would. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age, or maybe I don’t want to waste any more time on a three-​star smog-​check-​place review.

Went there early on a Thursday and there was no waiting. Ed the technician was pleasant and helpful, and knew his stuff. My 1999 Honda CRV passed and I was out of there in 30 minutes. Used a mailer coupon and bought the $ 10 for $ 5 voucher and the whole thing was under $ 35 including certificate.

These guys here were probably the most help smog guys I’ve ever dealt with. My car was an out of state purchase and I needed to make updates to get it CA ready for the smog and they helped me figure out all of the steps I’d need to get my car up to date and CA compliant. I would have had to spent hours on the computer researching car parts, etc. Super helpful and will definitely go back again and recommend anyone else I know.

As other reviewers have said, do whatever you can to come on a weekday to see Ed. He is the man — helped me figure out what was wrong with my car so I could get it fixed and pass! No offense to the guy there on the weekend, just never worked with him! Make sure you bring the coupon from their website and if the Unilocal deal is going on, buy one of those!

Taken cars in the past here no problem but always an hour or more, they advertise 20 minutes (but everyone does so big deal). Took car in the other day with note to call when finished, go back after an hour and a half to find out their equipment failed and car was not tested. This is especially aggravating, having taken kids to the park on an ankle with a torn ligament (very painful) for an extra long time that was unnecessary had these people with my car called. Not complaining about taking my kids to the park, just saying it was really inconvenient for such a long time that I would not have spent otherwise.

Well, no one answers the phone day after day — even during business hours. The recording says «just come by». Today I drove to San Rafael as I needed a «star» smog station. 4p and they are closed!
If you are going to not answer your phone, don’t have a recording saying you are open and not be there. It screams we don’t care about customers — they bug us on the phone so we don’t answer it — and I’m going home before I’m supposed to just because my time is more important than my customer’s.

I had been taking my cars there for a few years and originally gave them 4 stars. A few months ago I went there two days in a row after 5:30 to get a car smogged. Both times the place was closed even though the official closing time was 6 pm. I therefore down-​graded my rating to 2 stars. The owner just contacted me with a sincere apology, so I decided to bring my rating back up to 4 stars.

You know, its quick and easy. In 20 mins they check all the essentials including CO, O, NO. You can sit in the shed while they are testing your car, drop off your car, or grab some groceries next door at the Santa Venetia market where the checkers are hot! Oh and Rocky’s next door also makes a great sandwich but the butchers’ are not so hot unless you are into young men.
