I loved this place. Great taste, creative and very filling(very, very filling) sandwiches, and a reasonable price. I was away on business for two months and found they had closed. Very disappointed…

Indeed, this is my new favorite sandwich shop. The place is immaculate, the service is excellent, and one genuinely feels like each sandwich is made with extra care. Currently wolfing the«Mt. Tam» which is what compelled me to review this shop on Unilocal. This establishment is now in my rotation and I could not recommend it more highly.

I am always on the lookout for a good sandwich, and the turkey sandwich is my measure of a shop’s quality. The turkey that Sandwishes uses in their sandwiches will haunt my dreams. Wet white balogna, piled high. Ew. Can’t vouch for the rest of the menu. Bread was great. Also, not sure if this is a regional thing, but I dont like lettuce on a hot sandwich. If the order taker offers a sandwich hot or cold, and I choose hot, that should then eliminate lettuce from my order, right? Does anyone like hot lettuce? The store was very clean, the sandwiches on the menu sound creative and yummy, and the gentleman who worked there was polite.

I love to support local businesses so we popped into Sandwishes the other day to give it a whirl. I was torn on leaving a 2 star review because the owner was super nice and service was great. I got the uncle turkey and I have to admit it was not good. The meat was such poor quality it really turned me off. Also it seemed that they might have forgotten the cranberry, unless it was the few red flecks in the mayo. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich and that was better but still not great. I would suggest they up the meat quality significantly to compete with the other sandwich shops in town. Until then I will not be going back.

Based on the reviews I was pretty interested in checking this place out. I love sandwiches but there’s a lot of pretty weak sandwiches out there. First of all I’d like to say I thought the service was great and it made me not want to post my review of the food … however … The Uncle Turkey sounded great(Cranberry sauce/sriracha/provolone). I got it on a wheat roll with everything. The wheat roll reminded me very much of the wheat rolls from Bordenave’s. Bordenave’s makes a great sourdough roll. Wheat is not really their cup of tea. But it was nice and warm. The cranberry sauce was ok but not super. All the toppings were fine. Only problem was the meat. I wasn’t sure what to expect as far as the turkey meat was concerned. I had this sort-of assumption that it was going to be some sort of in-house roasted turkey, which would have been my first choice. Second choice would have been some supplier provided turkey that looks like chunks of turkey breast. Next I’d take that turkey in a pack you get at Costco that looks like sliced turkey breast. Next I’d take something like a quality sliced turkey deli meat like Boarshead. Somewhere below this would be something like a low end deli meat. Finally somewhere further down on the list you’d have some sort of school cafeteria molded rectangle process turkey something that has no resemblance to any meat I’ve ever seen. Guess which one I got? However, there was a lot of it for sure.(see pic). Unfortunately once it was heated up it was even worse than I think it might have been cold. Whatever was used to hold the block of meat together sort of dissolved so the remaining meat was now a warmish sort of slippery kind of rubbery kind of melt in your mouth not in a delicious way. I didn’t try the potato salad.

This place is pretty darn good. Being gluten intolerant I took a chance going to see if they had gluten free bread. Not only was the sandwich good but it was on gluten free bread that was good. AND they didn’t charge extra for gluten free bread. Which lets be honest is amazing because most places do. This is my new go to spot for a sandwich. I hope this place sticks around and keeps up the good work.

Delicious!!! My husband brought me here for the first time today and ordered the«High Maintenance». Really yummy. Small place and great service. A little pricey but worth it. Will be. Coming back to try some others.

Came in and asked the owner if there was gluten-free bread-there was none. A week later, BOOM Gluten-free bread available.

I made it back today — this time I had the Uncle Turkey. Cranberry sauce and siracha seemed like a weird combination, but its a great mix of sweet and sour. Bread was just as yummy as the first time and service was great. See you again soon!

I had the uncle turkey and it came with cranberry sauce, sriracha and provolone. It was delicious. I also had them cater to my business. We ordered 40sandwishes. All came on time, well prepared. Their potato salad was to die for. I highly recommend.

Wow! The uncle turkey sandwich is amazing! Genius ingredients… Great personable owner… So many yummy choices. My mission is to try all forty something sandwiches on the list! The price is really good for the size of their sandwiches and the amount of meat and other goodies stuffed in there. I also tried the potato salad and was very pleased :-)

Sandwishes offers 17 different kinds of «sandwishes» numbers start at 1, end at 49. choice of toasted French, wheat or dutch crunch roll. all come with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and pepperoncini.(the all come items overpowdered meat flavors) eats: #35, «Ike’s Favorite»(8.49) –pastrami, salami, swiss, veggies –sauce a little spicy, yummy sauce isn’t, more like gooey –Ike has strange taste, yummy sauce tasted like a mix of salad dressings. –salami bits hard like rock –huge sammie, most of it is bread. –10% off with coupon or free soda. took 10% off. 3.5 stars, realistically 3 stars. poor flavor scheme. crumbs –sauce et al overpowdered meat flavors, so it doesn’t matter what you order it will also taste the same –large amount of onions, some pickles, thick bread makes it bulky. –pleasantly everything fresh except for the hard salami. –wouldn’t repeat, yummy sauce isn’t. –only a few tables present for sitdown.

Yum! This is now my favorite sandwich spot in downtown San Rafael. The«Ike’s Favorite» is sooooo delicious. Wow, incredible. The beef salami is so flavorful with the pastrami + mushroom and swiss cheese adds a nice flavor profile. They have so many other sandwiches that sound amazing but I have a problem, once I find«the one», it’s so hard for me to try out the other sandwich options. Although, I think I am going to be pleased with a lot of the other sandwiches at Sandwish. My boyfriend tried the«Go-Father» and he said the bacon was incredible. He loved the flavor of the French dressing with all the different components. We will DEFINITELY be back to Sandwish. The restaurant has a cute charm and a very welcoming feeling.

I went and had a latte from Starbucks and noticed a new sandwich place across the way. I hadn’t had lunch yet, so I decided to check it out. It was a bright and colorful atmosphere for a sandwich spot. My favorite thing upon arrival was the name, Sandwishes :)). I love it already! The cashier was friendly and upbeat. The place is organized with phrases and signs that are really cute. And the sandwiches come with all kinds of funny names :) I ordered atom ant, which has pastrami and french dressing and more pastrami, along with Swiss cheese. My sandwich was oozing with flavors! I plan on becoming a regular here and trying other sandwiches as well. They also have salads. One is called the marinite :) Thanks for coming to San Rafael Sandwishes., we are happy your here :)
