Mary and Mike are great! Besides being down to earth caring people, I can tell they do a great job.
One of our two dogs is a rescue, and naturally doesn’t trust people. When we bring him over for boarding, he is now excited to see Mary and Mike.
Our second dog gets a little moody if she doesn’t get enough attention. After bringing her home from a week stay, she (and our rescue) were tail wagging and content. Obviously cared for.

We found Canine Works last August before we went on vacation. My dogs are VERY spoiled. They truly are part of our family. The thought of them staying in a metal run at the vet with no one there overnight made me cringe. Other places charge a fortune for boarding that provides service equivalent to a home atmosphere. Our oldest dog has a minor medical problem & sometimes needs to go out in the middle of the night. They watch her on the cameras & they can see if she needs to. That’s SO reassuring to me! Our middle furbaby goes ALOT bc we dragrace and he is absolutely TERRIFIED of noises. It’s an extreme fear. He was a rescue so we dont know if something happened before he became part of our family. They’ve even taken Fred in on short notice when I’ve needed it. Hes even gone to their house on July 4^th & Halloween! We decided we wouldn’t try to take him to the track anymore bc it’s not worth traumatizing him & the panic it creates. He’s comfortable at their house so, if that’s where he’s happiest, then that’s what we ensure we will do for him. He is SO happy when we pull in. Not ONE SINGLE TIME has he been skiddish or scared to go in. He tries to get out of the SUV before I can! He flashes a BIG smile when he sees their house. He started doing this goofy thing at home where he’d back up against my legs and just wait while turning his neck to look at me. We figured out that’s how he gets his belly rubbed while there! I love that they have a sofa & TV setup in the building where Mike sits with the dogs bc that’s what our dogs do at home. I love that I can text Mary at anytime to ask how they’re doing & she sends me pictures of them playing. It’s a unique setup that we haven’t found elsewhere. They charge a flat rate for a day stay or an overnite stay. They don’t nickel & dime charge for «extras» like playing with them or letting them out extra times. The dogs can go out in the yard by themselves or with other dogs depending on my preference. We have 3 dogs now & I’ve never once had a problem with the care or treatment they have received while there. I’ve even called her to ask her advice before on several things & she’s always willing to help me. I honestly could NEVER leave my dogs anywhere else when we are away from home. They’re amazing people running a great setup!

I am compelled to warn others of Canine Works. I DO NOT recommend this place to board your dog if you want them to be fed properly, walked, and cared for. I visited the property and left my dog for a brief overnight stay the first time. She said that she let him sleep in their bedroom. I did not consent to this as she has other dogs and I didn’t feel comfortable with him interacting with unknown dogs. The second time I left him in their care for 3 nights. My red eye flight arrived mid afternoon and went to get my dog without advance notice. This didn’t give them time to hide the abuse they were putting my poor dog through.
When I walked in, he looked anxious, miserable and significantly older. I noticed his tail hair was yellow – it was saturated in dry pee and on top of that he did not have any water in his crate and a bowl with scattered food. This is very concerning since I was told that the dogs are taken out into the backyard every 2 hours for potty relief. Also, my dog has a history of pancreatitis so it is crucial for him to eat his own food. I know something was given to him to entice him to eat because he had diarrhea and loose stool. Upon further notice after getting him home, he had a deep crate line on his nose that took a couple of weeks to go away.
Lastly, the dogs naturally get excited anytime someone comes in so they start barking in their crates. The way that Mary yells at them to «shut up» is APPALLING and unprofessional. They try to tell you that the dogs they care for become comfortable with them shortly after the owner leaves. Almost every dog I saw looked anxious. This is no way that a person who loves dogs or animals would treat them. Please do not bring your pet here if you want them in a caring and trust-​worthy environment while you’re away.

We needed pet service quick, fast, and in a hurry for these two lovelies right here. Polyurethane, humans, and fur babies are not a good match… so to the hotel we went and to these caring, experience, and dedicated people they went. Mary and Mike establishment is nice, clean, neat, and guess what… the fur babies have their own, secured, ac/​heated home. Along with a nice private backyard. We were very impressed. CoCo and ChaCha came back from their over night stay happy, frisky, and excited. Thanks Canine Works.
