My meal arrived ahead of my dining partner, the waitress was quite surprised when we asked where the other meal was. it seemed she forgot to place the order… sent mine back and requested it not be cold or dry when they brought our meals out… wasted words…25 minutes later our meals returned… ended up sending mine back and was told it would take too long to prepared filet. The salad I ordered did come promptly… very disappointed as we have been regulars but that is in the past.

I ordered Scrod Milanese, «scrod dipped in a light egg batter then sauteed with caramelized onions in a lemon butter sauce with a hint of white wine.» The scrod was served raw, translucent and cold to the touch. When I mentioned this to the waitress she explained that this was the way the chef liked to prepare it and I should have asked to have it cooked through. Seriously, who eats raw scrod. Even though my meal was inedible, it was still on the bill… so basically, we really got scrod.

Was deliciously surprised with this very authentic Italian restaurant. The service was excellent and attentive without being rushed. I had the braised steak tips with risotto medium rare. Perfectly done a slight crispy glaze and tender melted in my mouth. Portions were large. Started with a Ceasars salad which is my benchmark for an Italian rest. Croutons were perfectly seasoned. Dressing was delicious and the shaved parm was very good quality. Excellent experience.

Decent selection for remote Cape location of Sandwich, MA. The only Italian American cuisine restaurant in the town. Acceptable seafood selections for the price. Best restaurant in Sandwich, MA.

this is one of the best restaurants on Cape Cod, It is busy all winter(that s a big compliment on Cape Cod) Great Bar and realistic prices. .Its specialty is Italian food, real good portions and great wait staff., be sure to check the whole menu out., lots of other dishes, its location is out of the way so it has to be good. My favorite is a clam sauce on Pasta, Really good place .If there is a wait, Hey it means people like it.

Party of 6 with a reservation arrived close to 10 minutes early and waited more than 20 minutes for our table. We ordered cocktails which included 3 Martinis, 1 Bloody Mary and one vodka cranberry. The Martinis were not served in individual shakers at the table but poured at the bar. The vodka cranberry was a vodka tonic(wrong). Bloody Mary served without garnish or ice in a martini glass(wrong) plus a small amount of martini was spilled on a guest and her menu. No apologies. Appetizers were ordered, came to the table in a timely manner and delicious. In the meantime one martini was made so strong the diner asked for a tall glass with ice, a glass of lemonade for dilution and never once did the server ask if a drink replacement or something would satisfy the diner. Meals were ordered. Baked stuffed lobster at $ 37 was fair. Veal Parmesan had copious amount of heavy red sauce. Just alright. Veal Francese was nothing special and sauce was non existent. Never was party even asked if any dinner was good. No server follow up. Overall food would be rated at 50% and service would be rated at 30%. The locals in the party would likely not return nor recommend this restaurant.

I love this restaurant!!! Best Italian food on the Cape. There is also live music, really good live music. The owners are always there which is an indication that there is passion and commitment behind their business. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, they have great food specials, and to top it off the Martini and wine prices can’t be beat. If you want great food, great ambience, great service, and just a great night out on the Cape go to Tomatoes. But make a reservation… the locals know where to go. ;)

I recently came here while on vacation as I saw this was one of the best Italian restaurants on the Cape and have been craving some good Italian food. And this place did not disappoint. Everything from the complimentary bread and dipping oil to the entrees was excellent. I had the gnocchi, chicken, and sausage pomodoro and my girlfriend had the butternut squash ravioli. We both loved our dishes as you could tell they were not simply unthawed in a microwave. The atmosphere was nice, we were there on a Friday night and they had a live singer. The service did seem to take awhile, but I believe that’s due more to the amount of patrons than to the wait staffs ability. This place also seemed more formal and the prices reflected that. If you’re on the Cape and looking for some fine Italian dining, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I had Nonna’s Sunday Sauce with meatball, sausage, pork rib, pepper and onion over rigatoni. One of the very BEST Italian meals I have ever eaten. Not fancy but genuine. Every once in awhile you need to back off the trendy and chi-chi and just eat plain, good food! Bravo Tomatoes

I am from Ny but have to work year round on cape. This place kills it. Absolutely spot on Italian food. Thank u. Makes me feel more at home. I had the veal Parm. Veal was tender and portion was terrific. Pasta was cooked well What stood out for me was the arancini and calamari. True Italian dishes and done to perfection. Round it out with a friendly staff. This one is a winner.

This place is great! My boyfriend and I have been twice and have enjoyed it both times. I would recommend a reservation because it seems to always be pretty busy. The service is exceptional, espresso martinis were to die for. We started with the mussels and aranchini which was one of the best I’ve had. I was torn between the steaks and ended up with the filet which was delicious and cooked perfectly. This place is doing a great job, we will definitely keep going back.

All I have to say is, AUTHENTICITALIANCUISINE! I came on a Friday night. Walking in, the impression I had was another fine dining Italian restaurant. But when I tried the food, OMG! Mouth watering awesomeness! Best tasting meatballs on the Cape. My hat off too the chief(also the owner, Mark). YOUARETHEMAN! The evening music is a live 3 person trio. The music sets the atmosphere. The music had a relaxing, soothing sound which sets the mood to dine-in to getting down on the dance floor and releasing your inner groove. With a very nice size bar, this place had a large selection of wine, beer & spirits. All and all, for a good relaxing nightlife with GREAT food, GREAT music, and good people, come to Tomatoes.

Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Had family in from out of town recently and decided to go here instead of our normal ‘go-to’s’…great decision! Our server was on point, super attentive, great with the kids. And the food, all around, was delish. Penne ala vodka is to die for!

best food in sandwich and best espresso martinis on earth! we not only love the food, but the company and the owners. I love that the owner, Mark, is always there on weekend nights walking around the restaurant and checking on all of his customers. We have never been disappointed with a meal there! Try the colossal meatball appetizer!

Being from RI and more specifically the Providence area, there is obviously no shortage of quality Italian restaurants to choose from… so I was very excited on a recent trip to the Cape to discover this restaurant which delivered on both quality and portion size. The restaurant itself was quite large inside and we were able to be seated rather quickly. Their menu was actually quite extensive and had typical Italian fare, along with some different non-traditional items. To start, I tried the oysters(which I found out are brought in fresh every morning). You could tell how fresh they were and before I could blink the plate of them was gone, thats how good they were. When it came to my dinner selection I went with the risotto di mari. While the prices are a little bit on the higher side, I was very happy to see when my meal came that the portion sizes were very generous. The risotto itself was the perfect combo of creamy and delicious and I loved how they topped it with various pieces of fresh seafood(mussels, clams, scallops and shrimp). And while all of it was so good, the scallops were easily my favorite… on the larger size and cooked perfectly. I’m glad we grabbed a bite here during our stay in Sandwich. The service was very prompt, there are plenty of different dishes to choose from, and while the prices might be high, the food itself certainly will not disappoint(in taste or portion size). I would certainly come back again for a meal if I’m back in the area.

I am quite impressed that a Cape eatery can be so spot on as an authentic Italian restaurant. All around a great place; Atmosphere, service, and of course the food. (This is my «food snob from NY» attitude talking, but it truly is authentic Italian style.) Hearty tomato sauce, rich and creamy alfredo, everything down to the Rat Pack pictures on the wall and Sinatra on the speakers really made me forget I was in a Sandwich plaza with a Dominos next door. Take it from someone whose childhood neighbors grew tomatoes and grapes in the backyard and made wine in their cellars, this place is the real deal.

What a pleasant surprise! I have been meaning to do dinner and a movie for the past 5 months here but never made it. After watching a movie on a Saturday night, I finally made it in for dinner and yummy! Very glad I did. The little necks, mussels and calamari in white wine and garlic over linguine was absolutely delicious. We couldn’t finish the dish so we asked the waitress to pack it up and make sure she packed up all the sauce. YES, it was THAT good. I got the chicken scampi. The pieces of chicken we very tender and perfectly cooked. Sauce was very good and not too heavy. This is definitely a treat. To finish we had the chocolate moulten cake. Perfect ending of warm hot fudge with vanilla ice cream. Can’t wait to go back.
