Dr. Levinson, Chiropractor- Sandy Springs

Similar to the review given by Rebecca, I was referred to Levinson chiropractic by a coworker and I had a positive experience for the first month or two of treatment.
Originally, I had some pain in my hip and leg from L5-​S1. Dr. LeFranc was working on me and I was healing up nicely. Then, Dr. Levison jumped in one session to work on me when Dr. LeFranc was not there. She did my usual adjustment plus one additional move. Needless to say I was in extreme pain within 15 minutes of leaving their office and had to return the next day where Dr. Le Franc straightened me out and the pain started to subside. I didn’t think much of it. The pain subsided and I returned to work with minimal pain.
Then at the end of that week Dr. LeFranc was out again and Dr. Levinson worked on me. She did my usual adjustment plus one extra move as before. Again, I did not make it home and my partner had to help me get back to their office that next Monday and Dr. LeFranc started working on me again. Another couple weeks passed and the pain was starting to subside but I still couldn’t work. Dr. Levison jumped in one last time did the usual adjust me plus her one extra move that Dr. LeFranc had never done on me… and that is when the pain really hit bottom.
I am now in the most severe pain I have ever felt in my life. Dr. LeFranc tried to adjust me but the pain was not subsiding. Dr. Levision made an appointment with me at Highfield MRI and I had no problem getting my x-​rays from Dr. levinson to take to that appointment. I went to get an MRI and discovered that my L5-​S1 had turned into 2 slightly bulging discs and I had a new L4-​L5 injury. The original xray did not show any involvement with my L4-​L5.
I wasn’t getting better still and kept getting told «it takes time.» Still, everything was all good and they were friendly until I told them I had gone to see a spinal doctor, a sports medicine doctor, and had started physical therapy at a well known hospital.
After telling them this, I tried to obtain copies of my medical records from Dr. Levison and they refused stating that «as an associate that he did not own the records and they’d have to ask Dr. Levison.» Then they voided my payment and rushed me out of their office under the guise that they didn’t want to inconvenience me with waiting. The next appointment they still didn’t produce my files. I had to come back a third time to get the notes and x-​ray.
The next couple appointments after I told them I was going to see doctors for other opinions was when the issues started. That was when the pressure was put on me to get Vax-​D. Next, they tried to sell me on Vax-​d to fix this horrific pain I am not having. The cost was $ 3000 and they said my insurance wouldn’t cover it. They were very concerned about what the physical therapist was planning for me or if there was a plan. They told me that no surgeon would touch my injury to fix it!
I was being shoved into Vax-​D without knowing the cost. Then being told afterwards. I have low vision so I couldn’t read the contract they put in front of me so I told them I had to take it home. Then they started with… well do you want to make the minimum $ 1000 payment today. I told them after being out of work for 3 months that I didn’t have that kind of money. At which point they settled for $ 100 payment for the Vax-​d they gave me that day which I didn’t even know the cost of a single session.
Later on I sent an email telling them I wouldn’t be signing up for vax-​d. The next time I went to the office no one said hello to me… they asked me what I wanted for treatment… it was just weird. They didn’t use ice packs like they had been using on me. The whole behavior was strange.
Then, my appointments ran out and no one bothered to consult with the doctor as to the plan for my care. The receptionist said. well lets do Monday and Friday so you can come back after you go to your doctors appointment. I had every intention of coordinating my care with them until the receptionist, and Dr. Levinson got attitude with me about the doctors appointments.
I do not recommend this place to anyone. I’ll be lucky if I can ever go back to teaching dance again… the pain I have now is incredible. I hope that my new doctors can fix my original and new back problems.
I must say that Dr. LeFranc is very talented and knowledgeable. He deserves better than where he is working. I would like to continue seeing him but I think that the Levisons control what he does and it would be detrimental to my care. It’s a shame because he is really good at what he does. However, he can’t undo what she did to me when he wasn’t there.

Dr. Helene Levinson is perhaps the most professional, kind, and not to mention proficient chiropractor I have ever encountered. I have a very physical job that requires a lot of physical strength and mobility. Over the course of the last 5 years, Dr. Levinson has: 1) corrected my improperly aligned spine, 2) helped me to regain my flexibility and movement in my neck and shoulders, 3) put the sciatica in my right leg into remission, 4) stopped my lower back pain w/​a round of Vax-​D treatments, and 5) kept me moving w/​ease by way of a regular adjustment every 7 – 10 days. I would recommend Dr. Levison, and her very excellent staff, to every new client looking for the best chiropractor in Atlanta, or otherwise difficult cases that require intensive experience, thought, and healing hands:)

I found Dr. Levinson when I was at my worst and barely able to walk. She has helped me so much and I am forever grateful. I am in the medical field and didn’t really believe in chiropractic until I was forced to face the fact that back surgery was the only alternative available to me through mainstream medicine. Once my back was against the wall, I began to research other alternatives and found Dr. Levinson. She goes above and beyond to help me and is always available when I need her. I couldn’t ask for a better doctor. She has my highest commendation.

I went to Levinson Chiropractic on a recommendation from a coworker, and was immediately impressed by Dr Keith Riggi. Unfortunately, I was nowhere near as impressed by Dr Levinson. Dr Riggi is no longer at the practice, hence the lower star rating.
When I first started going, I was told that I had some hefty issues with my lower back. My insurance didn’t cover chiropractic, so they set me up with an awesome payment plan to get the treatments they thought I needed. So at first, all was AWESOME. Three days a week I went in and got adjusted, 2 of those with Dr Riggi. The third day I was with Dr Levinson. Don’t get me wrong, she seems knowledgeable and all, but her strength just isn’t the same — and I’ve had much smaller female chiropractors adjust my back in the past. But I could live with that.
What I couldn’t live with, however, was what happened when I asked her about my progress. I had been going for about 3 months, and when I asked her about how things were looking I got a very vague «well, it takes time…». Basically, keep spending your money on me, we’ll see what happens. At least, that’s how I felt. I loved everyone else in the office, but I couldn’t justify continuing to put money into a practice where the primary caregiver gave me an answer like that — I just plain felt cheated.
That would be the end of the story. I found out a few months later that Dr Riggi had left the practice and started his own, and I go see him now and then, and he’s wonderful. However, its not the end, because trying to get my records from there has been a huge pain in the butt. I’m trying to file a VA claim, and even after being assured that it would be taken care of, it took a trip into the office and face to face chat with Dr Levinson to make it happen. Fingers crossed she sends them like she said she would…
All in all, if you just need an adjustment now and then, this place is fine. But if you’re looking for anything further, I’d go elsewhere.
